The ABS brake system had failed without any warninig or indecation, I had my mechanic check the system out and he foun tha the ABS pump was malfunctioning. But it did not produce a fault code to the computer nor did the dash light come on. He also checked with other meckanic in the area and they also have had the same reports from their customers about the brakes failing. The quick fix is to disable the ABS system and run the brakes in the manual mode. There seems to be a problem with (96-97 ) systems. The repair cost for ABS range from $900 to $1500 dolllars to fix. At that price there probably a lot of people riding arounrd with the ABS system desabled. I think this should have a top priority to be checked out. Had I needed the brakes in a real emergency or panic stop I don't think I would be writing this letter. Thank you for yor time in this matter john T nuttall 24 B street lowell, MA. 01851.

Many problems are continuing. Currently, the front suspension needs repaired, the brakes were replaced at 18000 and are now gone again, the rear seals are leaking damaging the rear brakes, the drive lights still flash intermittently, a smell of gasoline is in the vehicle after refueling, the engine pings no matter what fuel is used. Nothing the dealer has done has solved the multitude of problems. Seat belt problems on passenger side, interior trim fell off, on and on.

Vehicle was put in for recall on ABS system. A short time later, the ABS light came on again. Was returned to the dealer and was checked again. Some time later the light was going on again and was brought back to the dealer. They hoocked it up to the computer and they said there were at least 10 different codes in the system and they would need to start with the first thing and work through to find out the problem. The light seems to go on when the truck is in reverse and when you step on the brake hard at 5 mph then put it in drive it seems to go out. Is there a way that this can be checked out without the truck being taken for a week or is it the whole computer system that is faulty?
