I read an article about the ABS problems on buses. I have had "problems" with the brakes on my truck, and I have talked to other people who are leary of the ABS brakes. Once I have an experience (uneven pavement, railroad tracks, gravel) where the brakes act funny, I will try to avoid applying my brakes while traveling over the conditions where I have had "problems". I will go through a yellow/red light when I know I have enough room to stop, due to the pavement/road conditions.

The first failure of the ABS system occured about 1 week after I purchased the vehicle in January of 1999. My daughter was driving the car and tried to stop on the ice and snow to avoid hitting a stopped car in front of her and the braked failed to stop her and she hit a bus stop pole. I personally have had 2 more failures of the brakes going from ashphalt on to dirt and the brakes would only allow about 10% of the full peddle. I would like to know if there is any way I can collect damages from General Motors to cover the repairs on the vehicle since the problem was obviously there F ault!!

Traffic was stopped for road construction. Traffic began to move. Vehicle in front of me started and slammed on brakes when another pulled in front of her. I had to brake quickly - I heard a noise and my vehicle continued into hers without even slowing down. A recall had been serviced on 1/04/00. I feel that the ABS brake system is a failure. I have had many such instances but luckily this was the first accident as a result of the brake failure.

Anti-lock brake warning indicator light came on. Took to rothrock Chevrolet, springfield, pa. They stated that the ECM module needed to be replaced and stated that it would cost in excess of $1,000. No problems prior. Is this related to the recent recall regarding the anti-lock system computer possibly?

Was driving 45mph on wet road when another vehicle cut in front. Applied brakes & slid into rear of vehicle. Upon impact with other vehicle, air bags failed to deploy. Problem repaired. Second time, road dry & applied brakes quickly. Heard squealing of brakes & tires. Brakes (ABS) failed to stop vehicle. Ran into ambulance. Once again air bags failed to deploy. Went to emergency room for treatment.

Brakes seemed mushy when short stop required. Had brakes checked and they checked out ok. Shortly thereafter the ABS light came on. Dealer determined that the ABS sensor module was bad and had to be replaced. How a sensor could cost over $1000 seemed ridiculous. This coincides with campaign 99I006000. Can I be reimbursed for this repair?

Both O2 sensors have been replaced (at seperate time in past 4 months). Upper/lower ball joints are in need of replacement. According to dealership (desantis Chevrolet) should have never passed inspection in April. Have had problem with ABS since purchase of the vehicle. First recall did nothing to fix problem. ABS can't tell difference from wet & dry pavement. ABS will kick in when slowing down on gravel at 20mph, but not at faster speeds on wet pavement.
