I have been having an issue with a strong fuel smell and witnessed a large puddle of gas leaking under the car. Looking under the car I found corroded fuel lines on a plastic chassis bracket. Since the lines come from the pump running forward under the passenger side, this is a real fire hazard. The fuel lines are only a few inches from the exhaust pipe. Upon ignition this could ignite a fire. Several online complaints have been made to recall forums mentioning the same issue with the Cobalt model.in the passed their has been a recall, but only for the fuel pump, not including the fuel lines. Also, many including myself have went to the Chevrolet deal to get this problem solved. The problem is that they refuse to fix any unless I pay $600 or more for the fuel lines.the fuel lines are not even included into any warranty, yet the fuel pump is. Since there has been a major issue with this life threatening issue, the materials are obviously problematic and need to be recalled or revised.

I have a serious leak in my fuel tank. The location of this leak is on the passenger side near the rear tire. The fumes are so strong it can be smelled over 50ft away from the vehicle. I have literally had gas leak onto a friends hand when they leaned down to check for a leak. I myself am a 24 year old female, my passengers on a daily basis include a 24 year old male, and two children one of which is my four year old son and a five year old girl! this is extremely dangerous and members of our families as well as friends are extremely concerned for our safety! I am extremely concerned for our safety as well! you have a previous recall for the year make and model of my vehicle but only limited to a few specific states! this is a serious problem, I have read reports of many others having the same issues as me with this car. Something needs to be done and it needs to happen before something horrific happens to someone who is either in or near these vehicles!

Our 2006 Chevy Cobalt VIN was took in for repair in Nov 2013, we were told we needed a starter but never why, it was because there was a gas leak, we found out in Aug 2014 when it caught on fire. Again Oct 2014 the auto did the same thing we were told the rest of the recall parts were in and to bring it in, all the time we were driving a unsafe car nd was never told. We took the car in Nov 2014 with only the battery light on a new battery (less than 48 hrs old and the 3rd one in a year). When got the car back the engine light was on, the power steering light was on and the T/C lights were on the speed odometer nor gas hand works, nor A/C and heat, but they replaced the fuse when we took it back. The car will not change gears and is really loud. They has us to bring it back and did not again do a diagnostic test just say in his opinion the auto needs a new power steering monitor (power steering after recall replacement went out, drives sluggish like it is going to stop in traffic like it did before the recalls but worse. It is as loud as a 5th wheeler truck, therefore it is hard to heard emergency vehicles. None of these safety matter or issues were occurring before the recall parts were put on. The car would stop but would start up and drive however it had none of the problems. The auto we are told if we drive less than 15 mph will be uncontrollable. We cannot control the speed now therefore it now drives at the sluggish gear. We are seniors and are afraid of the car. We did not know the danger of recall because the cards only stated the name of the part. The car as I previously stated would drive but in no way has these problems. The starter put on last year is am example of the safety issues that are hidden from us they replaced the starter we paid for it and never told us it was cause by a recall gas leak until it happen again in Aug 2013. I submitted a complaint this time and the last time and they are not interested in recall issues.

The vehicle started to emit an odor of fuel when parked, not running. A few days later a visible puddle of fuel was under the body of the car. This has been recurring every day since the first occurrence. Now a visible leak from above the fuel tank can be seen dripping fuel at an accelerated rate.

My car has been mildly having problems when you would stop at a light or pull into a parking spot it acts like it wants to cutoff. I got the letter on the recall and it definitely gave me anxiety driving the car especially since I have to travel 180 miles quite often for my kids. I had the recall fixed and yet still had the minor problem. I say minor only because it did not cause anything bad to happen at that time. Also noticed that my car was not acting right with the two keys they gave me sometimes it would start and sometimes it locked up. But not every time. About two months after that I went to lunch and my key got locked in the ignition and the car would not start. Figuring I trust be the battery I went bought a new battery but the car still wouldn't start. I had it towed to GM dealership and they told me it coded for the ignition switch and the fuse box. But then called me back and said it was the fuse box and the body control module and the fuel pressure censor. I tried to trade it in and the value of a car I bought just a year and a half ago for 11,999 is now only worth $3000 even to the maker of the car I would be stuck paying on a car that is unsafe still and makes it to where I cannot get a new car because of the amount I still owe on the vehicle.

Gas leaks from top of gas tank, can cause fire, and throttle switch causes engine to loose power, I have had it cleaned and it works, but now I have second Cobalt, and it does the same thing with throttle switch causing car to run under 20 miles per hour. The power reduction can cause engine to overheat and the leaky gas tank can catch fire. Someone should look into this issue asap.

Hi there about two three weeks ago I started smelling fuel every time I got out of my car. My husband checked and it looks there is a hole in the gas tank that or the tube that allows the gas to flow is cracked. I saw that there was a recall for this but only in vehicles that are in Nevada, Arizona and Texas.I am not driving the car currently due to safety reasons. Every time gas is put in the car you can hear it leaking out the bottom. I am not sure what to do to fix this. Can some one help me?? thank you. I have been smelling gas inside and outside of my vehicle. I was told it maybe a gas leak, but no gas residue was found on the ground then I was told my gas cap may need to be replace. So I went to autozone and had it checked out and was told my gas cap, transmission and battery was good. You can walk pass my car anytime of the day without it been cranked up and smell gas. I done did some research and seen their was a past recall similar to this but was told it was fixed in the past. (I guess way before I purchased this vehicle) but now im also seeing im not the only one with the issue, what can be done about it and since so many people are having the same problem why not do a recall on it? I done put so much money into this car and only had it 16 months, this is ridiculous, frustrating and definitely not safe. Pretty sure not good for me and my kids health and this is my only transportation as well.

I have the smell of gasoline coming from the car and find that it is coming from the area of the gas tank. After further investigation I find that certain Cobalt models have been recalled for this matter. Where the seal around the fuel pump cracks and leaks. However I am told that for some reason my Cobalt model is not in recall for this situation. Why not. If some of these vehicles have been recalled for this problem then obviously the problem should be corrected with this vehicle as well. I would like to know how I go about getting this problem resolved with this lemon of a car.

I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt. I have had issues with every part that has been issued a recall so far and then some. The latest issue is that my car is leaking gasoline under the driver side door. I see that there was a recall issued for this in 2009, but only for vehicles in certain states, in which I do not reside. I have also had issues with my ignition for several years, so it is good news that a recall has come up for it. Before the recall was issued for the power steering pump, I had no power steering for six months prior. I think that it is repulsive that GM can manufacture this car and just issue recall after recall with no consequence.

My car was part of the GM recall for the incorrect ignition switches. It was returned to me on July 23rd, fixed or so I was told with a new ignition to fix the issue. However within a week of having the car back, it was doing the same as before the recall fix was done. Slipping into accessibility mode and not giving me any option to hit the gas, only pull off if I was able, turn the car off, then back on and go. This happened a couple of times when I was going upwards of 40 mph. The last few times this has happened was pulling from my street into a busy street with traffic going upwards of 55 mph. I had to pull off as quickly as I could onto the shoulder and turn off the car, back on again and go meanwhile hoping to not be hit. I contacted GM again and was told that my recalled part was fixed and this had to be another issue. However, it's the exact issue that happened before my car was fixed. I'm 7 months pregnant and often drive with my 16 month old son in this car with me. I do not feel safe driving it and cannot just go purchase a new car. I feel like this needs to be looked into further to find out if there are more issues after the initial recall fix.
