The fuel module return fuel line as referenced in the recall numbered 12V459000 had broken off the module and leaked fuel at the some point on my way home from work in the St louis metro area. I live in belleville, il.

I am writing about the recall for the 2007 Chevy Cobalt that I own. Plastic parts connected to the fuel pump, could crack especially if exposed to high temperatures, and if the crack gets large enough, fuel could leak out of the vehicle and cause a fire. I am concerned because this is a regional recall, and only covers 07 Cobalt"S originally sold, or currently registered in AZ, ca, fl, nv, or tx, because GM says its warranty data indicates that the problem is far more common in hot-weather states. I bought my Cobalt brand new in 07 from a mi dealer and immediately drove it to edwards air force base ca, in the mojave desert. This is one of the hottest places in America. My plastic fuel pump has been exposed to higher temperatures than most Cobalt?S anywhere, yet I am not eligible for the safety recall because it was not originally sold or registered in ca. This is a serious and dangerous oversight. With the safety recall, all recalled vehicles must be repaired, regardless of whether a problem has appeared, and there is no time limit on the repair, and that is what I should be entitled to. If I take my Cobalt to the dealer under the ?special coverage? letter that I received, I may not leave with a replacement fuel pump, and they may charge me for the inspection. Plus, this ?special coverage? is only good for a limited time, so if my car survives, I will have to pay for the repairs myself. Why would you give a free replacement fuel pump to a person who bought a Cobalt in ca and moved to mi, where they are probably not in any danger of a fire. But not to a person who bought in mi, now lives in ca and has the danger of a fire. Don"T allow GM to ignore vehicles like mine when they get these selective geographical recalls. I called GM customer service twice, but they don't seem very interested in this predicament. For my safety, I want my fuel pump replaced for free.

Check engine light with the code 0410. On Friday I took my car to a shop because my car started to smell like electrical wires were burning and that is when I noticed the my engine light was on. When the shop checked it had a code for 0410. I looked this code up and I had said there was a recall on this code but I noticed that my car was not on this list.

I have owned nothing but Chevy cars for 35 years. I had 3 cavaliers that I can't say one bad word about. This Cobalt started causing me problems in 2012 and it seems to be getting worse steadily. I started smelling a strong smell of gas for a few weeks and could not figure out where it was coming from. When I finally took it to a mechanic, they told me the fuel tank was leaking and very dangerous to drive. I had to take it to the dealer because no one else would fix it. It cost over $800 and I have never had to put that kind of money into a vehicle. Now my stereo speakers and turn signal blinker are shutting off for a few days and then coming back for a few days and no pattern on how long it stays or goes. I went online to see if there was a recall for the stereo and to my surprise I not only found a ton of complaints worse than mine about the stereo (cars 2005-2007- you think they would have got it right after 2 years) but there was a recall in Nov. 2012 for the fuel tank module (just 3 months after mine went up). I'm not sure what to do at this point other than contact GM but according to other complaints they won't do anything. This really has changed my mind about Chevy. I see now this form requires a phone number so hopefully someone will contact me on these issues and convince me that I will buy another Chevy. Thank you for having a form to place a complaint.

I constantly have problems with my 07 Cobalt, every time it rains, or it's wet out, the engine starts to shake violently, and gas starts spewing out of the tailpipe causing an immense amount of smoke to come out, but when it dries up, the problem stops, only to restart again when it rains. I've been to the dealership, and also private shops, and called G.M customer service, and no one has any clue as to why this keeps happening. This is fuel related, and im worried it could cause harm to me, and my family if not resolved. Somehow, water is getting into the fuel line making this happen and nobody knows how. It even happens when I run the a.C, when the moisture from the compressor drips down. It has been very costly to find no solution, any advice, or repairs that were done to fix this would be very appreciated and helpful.

I had the fuel pump replaced because of this leak but GM won't reimburse me, despite the fact that there have been several recalls on the fuel pump systems in Cobalts. The autoshop said there is a severe fuel leakage, and they found fuel leaking from the fuel tank, and the source of fuel leak was the fuel pump module. This could be very dangerous, and there was indeed a recall for the car model, however, it does not cover car registered in my state. I suggest they include this state, and reimburse my repair.

My husband and I purchased the vehicle in question in April 2007, at approx. 50,000 miles my car started to miss, then began to accelerate on its own and lunge as I was coming to a stop. We brought the car back to dealer where purchased, we were then sent on "wild goose chase, " first we were told it was a fuel pedal sensor, nxt they replaced the computer, followed by the wiring harness, this however, did not fix the problem, we took it back for a fourth time and the ended up rebuilding the head on the motor, car has not ran correctly ever since. We tried to file a lemon law claim but needed four receipts to prove warranty work, we had three and after the fourth when picked up car the dealer would not release fourth, that was a year ago. My car now has 88,000 miles on it, it is beginning to idle rough again and when I put fuel in it, the car does not want to start, at first it will not do anything, and then it will try to turn over but will not start I then have to slam the fuel to it in order to get it started, once it starts it will idle rough and I have to keep giving it fuel in order for the idle to smooth. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned, I will be hard pressed to ever buy another Chevy!!!!!!!

The vehicle was brought in for a recall to replace fuel module for fuel odor? well the module was replaced with the new module kit(3.107). Before this replacement we had no problems with the car and fuel odor/fuel gauge. Now that we had the recall down there is a strong fuel odor and the gas gauge will read full at times and when the car is shut off and turned back on after driver.7 miles the gauge will say its only got a 1/4 tank of gas and we switch the car on and off a few times and it will finally go back to full but after driving it about 3 miles the gauge will go back down to a 1/4 tank and we have to stop and cycle the key on and off at least 4 times for it to give a somewhat accurate reading but after driving a couple miles the gauge will go to empty. Even when the tank is empty the gauge will say there's a half tank of gas, I have even got stuck multiple times thinking there was gas in the car. Anyway point being that this module kit 3.107 gave me all the symptoms of why it was being recalled and messed up my fuel gauge and the dealer refuses to fix it as warranty so because the fuel gauge isn't part of the recall. So I further investigated on multiple online forums and it seems everyone that gets this recall down has had major problems with the fuel gauge and a fuel odor they didn't have before the recall. So im hoping the NHTSA will further investigate this issue, this could be a huge safety issue running out of gas in the middle of the road/highway/dark long dirt roads with no gas stations for miles. So please read this and check your Cobalt by cycling the ignition and you will see after module replacement the fuel gauge is erratic/gas odor is now present. Chevys cheap recall is just not cutting it and they need to look into recalling the fuel level sensor with the module cause this problem seems like it happens to every Cobalt I have seen with this recall.
