Problem: I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt that is leaking fuel from under the car at the gas tank. I called the parts department were we purchased the car to see were the fuel filter is located. He told me that just yesterday a customer came in who owned the same year and model who also had a leak at the same location at the fuel tank. The parts person told me that the fuel pump is in the tank. The smell of gasoline in the car is extremely bad. It almost smells like it is leaking into the car. Question: Is this a problem that other 2007 Chevy customers are having" what can I do about this dangerous situation"

Purchased a 2007 Cobalt Aug 13, 2007; 1 year later and till date had to bring car in for all issues pertaining to the fuel system of the car. I have broken down as a result of the fuel system in my car, have had to pay for rental car's and miss time from work. Dealership and GM does not feel my car should be replaced.

Yesterday I filled up the car with gas and I smelled the gasoline. I checked out my car and I found out that my gas tank was leaking from the connector that connects the gas tank to the rubber hose that leads to the metal pipe that you insert gas from. This happened two times after filling up completely. It appears that the weld process that seals the connector to the gas tank was not sealed properly and started to crack. Today I had to replace my gas tank for the first time and I don't believe I am going to be the only one with this problem. Personally I think its a problem Chevrolet has had for awhile. I also heard on the radio that the new version of the trial Blazer had a recall on their gasoline tanks for leaking problems too. My purpose for my complaint is to prevent this from happening to anyone else and notify Chevrolet of the problem so they can fix it. Yes I do still have the old part.
