The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming more fuel than normal. In addition, the vehicle lost acceleration power and a gasoline fuel odor was present in the vehicle cabin. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle was leaking fuel. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 09V419000 (fuel system, gasoline: Delivery: Fuel pump). The failure and current mileages were unavailable.

Noticed a fuel smell in the car for about 3 days. Disconnected the fuel tank and noticed fuel leaking from the fuel pump. Upon further inspection it was the plastic sending line on top of the fuel pump that had developed a crack, resulting in fuel leak. Replaced the fuel pump, now no fuel leak or fuel smells.
