Colorado

I have a 05 Colorado. Extended cab 4X4 w/ 14,200 miles. I am the original owner. More than once I have had trouble with the driver side window won't go down and the door locks do not work. This problem is very annoying, frustrating and time consuming. It is not an uncommon problem, check out the on line forms related to Colorado's. my dealer checked for recalls and tsbs with out help. I am very disappointed in GM as they know this is an issue, but they don't want to or seem to have an answer. Four years ago I had the option to by foreign but bought american instead.

I have an 05 four door Colorado. In my years of owning it, I have S had several episodes in which the driverside window won't go down and the door locks do not work. This problem has taken up to a month or so for the truck's computer or what ever to work out the problem and start working normally. I have been to the dealer and they say they can't help except for a new switch which costs $200. I have also checked out various automotive forums and found multiple people having the same issue and having it multiple times. I have checked for recalls and tsbs with out help. GM knows this is an issue, but they don't want to or seem to have an answer. I paid good money for this truck and did not expect a four year old to have multiple electric episodes like this.

The NHTSA item number for this problem is 10013546 my 05 Chevrolet Colorado truck has a fan speed setting of 0-4 with 0 being off and 4 being high. About a week ago speeds 1-3 stopped working leaving only off or high. This told me it was the fan resistor. Once I found the resistor I noticed the pigtail connector and the resistor terminals were melted. I assume this is from excessive heat. After a quick search online I noticed there were others having the same issue. The only replacement parts for the problem are the same parts and have not been re-engineered. Which will eventually lead to the same problem down the road.. this is defiantly a fire hazard and malting is only 1 step away from the flash point of plastics. To this moment GM has not issued a voluntary recall on the vehicle. Chevy refused to pay for the repairs but did offer to send me a service certificate worth $200. That great but it doesn't fix the fire hazard, nor the recurring problems.

2005 Chevrolet Colorado 2wd pickup with 3.5 litre engine and manual transmission. Regular cab. This vehicle is poorly designed and supported. There has been a hesitation and backfire since it was new in May 2005. Numerous attempts to have GM fix it have met with stoney indifference and total non suport of their (GM) suposed warrranty. It also has a foot operated parking brake and this on a manual transmissioned vehicle is in my opinion an accident waiting to happen.

Colorado 4WD 5-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles
Truck has push button 4WD controls. Three times it has switched to 4WD from 2wd I was at slow speed once in reverse and each time I was turning the steering wheel to the right. Had the truck into the dealer for a defective power steering pump and reported that to the dealer, they said they could not duplicate the situation.

Colorado 5-cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 1,000 miles
Left power window, power door locks, clock radio, dome light quit working randomly. Dealer cannot duplicate problem. Onstar doesn't work sometimes. Battery seems to go dead if it sits more than 5 days, remote for door locks range is horrible but they say it's normal to have to stand right next to the truck to unlock / lock it.

About 1 yr. And 1 month after I bought a Chevy Colorado, the thing shut off on me. The first time it left me on the side of I-55 and did not want to start. It did though, but the engine light was on, it soon went off. The dealer reprogrammed the computer. It has shut off on me 4 more times. The dealer will not fix the truck B/C it is not storing "codes". also, the traction control on the truck seems to engadge itself at the oddest of times when there is really no tire slippage and this has me sputtering and jumping while I'm trying to drive in traffic. At first start up, the truck has always made this rattling ping noise out of the muffler. Every time I step out of the truck, I shocks me, I beleive due to the nylon in the fabric seats. The turn signal will only "tick tock" when it wants to. The hood on the truck will "bow" or "bubble" in and out while driving, usually on the inerstate when there is some little wind blowing outside. The alarm on the truck has gone crazy on me a few times. I can unlock the door, it will go off but the radio inside the truck will be playing. If I were to cranck the truck up, turn the engine off, get out, and lock the door, the alarm will be going off about five minutes later. This cycle will keep going on until I reset the computer by pushing the gas pedal three times. All the dealer and GM wants to offer me is an extended warrenty, which the warrenty I have now is doing me absolutely no justice, I refused it. They told me that they cannot work on the truck B/C they cannot duplicate the problems at which they drove it twice, and the computer is not storing codes. This problem seems to be compleately spurratic and unpredictable. I have invested alot of money into this truck and still owe on it. I refuse to be forced to pay for and drive a hazzard.
