Driving on us 441 engine shut off and the pass lock light came on. Had to steer off of road with no power. Restarted after stopped and happened again coming back up mountain but no where to pull off road nearly hit by another car. Dealer says this is a security system tied to the ignition switch and fuel when the car is started but shouldn't shut off fuel while driving. Admitted this is a common problem they experience though. If the pass lock system fails to work as designed and shuts off the fuel supply to the engine while driving it's very dangerous. Should be a recall to replace the security system with a system that works as designed.

The vehicle will not start. The engine turns over however the vehicle will not start. After fifteen to twenty minutes the vehicle starts. Today my 17 year old daughter is at a friends house some distance away and the vehicle will not start. I have taken the vehicle to my mechanic and have discovered that this is a known issue with this vehicle. I am surprised that there has not been a recall for the ignition switch by Chevrolet. I would like to know what if any options I have other than to take my vehicle back to a Chevrolet dealer and have them install and re-program the computer system to the new ignition system which by the way per all of the similar complaints I have recently found on the internet is definitely defective. I am also wondering if this is the Prelude to the current ignition problem the G.M refused to recognize after numerous complaints that unfortunately ended in causing numerous accidents and truly unfortunate deaths which all were uncalled for. I have researched my vehicle on the internet and have found no recall other than that of a child car seat issue which does not apply to my vehicle as I have two fold down seats in the xtra cab.

The passlock system has become more of an issue with this vehicle. The vehicle will not start almost two to three times a week. Not only does this come at the most un-opportune time after 10 minutes or more to wait for the system to reset. After reading this post, I see that I am not the only one with this problem. I have had to wait up to 30 minutes sometimes to get the truck started again. His has become more of a problem.so far there has not been a dangerous situation where this problem has happened. But it gets to a point that your afraid to turn the engine off, for fear of being stranded somewhere. The truck had been to the dealer many times for this problem they were unable to fine out what was wrong.they replaced the ignition switch, inside the steering column and the problem stopped. The fuel pump on the vehicle failed and the vehicle was leaking gas and that had to be replaced and the vent valve on the gas tank just failed and had to be replaced (76,000 miles). Thank you for your consideration.

The passlock system has become more of an issue with this vehicle. The vehicle will not start almost two to three times a week. Not only does this come at the most un-opportune time but now happens more often when I have less than a half tank of gas. When I put gas in, this does not happen as much. After 10 minutes or more to wait for the system to reset. Sometimes the lock light stays on after I start the car. My mechanic has had the truck in 4 times and has not been able to find what is wrong. After reading this post, I see that I am not the only one with this problem. I have had to wait up to 30 minutes sometimes to get the truck started again. His has become more of a problem. I have not have any other major problems and have over 90,000 miles. So far there has not been a dangerous situation where this problem has happened. But it gets to a point that your afraid to turn the engine off. Thank you for your time. Updated 1/23/2015

Vehicle purchased new on 05/2006. Less than a month after purchase the vehicle would not start due to passlock system believing the car was in the process of becoming stolen. Owner would unlock vehicle with key fob and place key in ignition to start, but red lock icon on dashboard would blink and engine would not turn over. Original key and original key fob used at all times of occurrence. Owner would have to wait ten minutes and try again if vehicle would not start for passlock system to disengage. While under warranty, customer brought vehicle into GM dealer multiple times and the problem could not be verified. This left customer stranded in multiple locations at times and in situations that could have left owner in a dangerous situation based on area. At one point, customer could not start vehicle after a half hour, he than called GM and had the vehicle towed under warranty, the GM dealership stated problem was fixed or corrected. Now, no longer under warranty vehicle has same issue occurring intermittently. Cost to replace passlock sensor is too costly for owner to afford. Other vehicle maintenance is properly done according to owner's manual by local mechanic. Owner has uploaded video of issue experiencing; please visit youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=mfdjho_hiy4&feature=youtu.be.

On occasion, my vehicle will not start. It appears that the anti-theft system comes on and will not allow the vehicle to start. Letting the vehicle sit for ten minutes tends to fix the problem. My vehicle has approximately 65K miles and this occurs roughly six times a year. When the dealer tries to identify the problem, they cannot find anything wrong with it.

I purchased this vehicle new, and for too much information the vehicle is a piece of junk. About a couple of months ago I unlock my vehicle using the remote opener. Get in the vehicle, put key in ignition, try and start vehicle. Vehicle will not start, the engine will turn over, but will not start. I noticed during this time, will trying to get vehicle to start, that the anti-theft lock light has lit up on dash board. To no avail the vehicle would not start. At this time I was not aware of any problems with vehicle, so I think here we go another trip to the dealer to get piece of junk fixed. After I hitch a ride home, I search the web for any reasons vehicle will not start. I found articles from individuals who also had this same problem. I learned from one that for some reason the vehicle's anti-theft system thinks you are trying to steal your own vehicle. I also learned that if you wait 10 minutes after your first failed attempt at starting vehicle the anti-theft would reset itself and vehicle would start. Try to start the vehicle the next morning, and it starts. I think okay I will stop using remote and not lock vehicle, see if this stops problem. It does not. I get in vehicle about 2 days ago and again the engine will turn over, but will not start. There is the anti-theft light lit up on dash board again. This time I wait 10 minutes and the vehicle will start. I have called the dealer and GM, from both I hear there is no solution. Can't by-pass the anti-theft, and for service dept. To find problem, vehicle has to experience same problem at the time of repair. Since the problem is intermittent, a solution is unlikely. There appears to be a problem with this type vehicle, built around the time frame as the purchase of the one I bought. GM should be made to find a solution. I do not like being stranded, and selling the product to someone else is not an option.

The passlock system is an issue with this vehicle. The vehicle will not start on occasion, or in my case several occasions. Not only is it inconvenient, but I ask, what has happened to people who have stalled with this vehicle at stop lights or in other situations? I live in an area where the weather can drop to -30 (F). 10 minutes to wait for the system to reset can have detrimental effects. How many fatalities and injuries will it take before GM and the NHTSA act? this is a safety issue and it needs to be addressed. Our tax dollars bailed out GM, I expect a product that will not put me in a dangerous situation. Thank you for your time.

I own a 2006 Chevy Colorado extended cab. The air bag readiness light stayed on after starting the vehicle. According to the manual, if the air bag readiness light stays on after you start the vehicle, it means the airbag is not in working order. The airbags may not inflate in a crash or they could inflate without a crash. This is a safety problem. I am concerned that the airbag would not deploy if involved in a crash. I am also concerned about having the air bag deploy under normal driving. There is a wiring harness that travels through the hinge of the rear door that appears to be a problem. The opening and closing of the rear doors has caused the wires to break. This rear door gets opened maybe 1 out of every 10 times the vehicle is entered/exited. Since the problem involves the airbags I thought it would be best to take it to the dealership for them to repair. Since there has not been an recall issued, I have had to pay for this myself.

After my vehicle gained 67xxx it began to have issues with the anti theft system. When I turn my vehicle off, and turn it back on the anti theft light blinks. This has stalled my vehicle. When I attempt to turn it on the engine will crank and the lights flicker on and off. After doing some research I have found that numerous people have also encountered this issue. The only fix know at the moment is to wait 10 minutes and then the engine will start. This can become a nuisance and a danger. I had recently encountered a nail in my tire. I had to pull over on the highway to check what was happening. When I shut my engine off I was stuck on the highway due to my anti theft light blinking and my engine not starting due to this anti theft issue. I have addressed this with GM and also the local dealer with no success for assistance. It was suggested that I do a diagnostics test, but that would run me upward of 400+ to figure out what is going on. I find this to be a manufacture issue. Numerous people have addressed this issue online.

As I see I am one of may people with this issue, I am having almost daily problems with the passlock/no start for the past few weeks. This happened one other time back in June 2012 but has not done so since. Then about 3 weeks ago, it started doing it daily. I attempt to start it (whether it has been sitting for hours or only a few mins), but it only will crank not start. I have to sit in the truck for about 10 mins with the key turned to the on position and then it will start. This is ridiculous. With so many people having this problem, GM should be forced to put out on recall on the passlock/security and fix these known problems!! this could be very dangerous if something were to happen where you need to move your vehicle in case of an emergency and it won't start.

I was driving home from work during the night-time hours and both headlights quit working. Now, the left headlight continues to go out but I can touch it and it will come on. I have replaced the light several times and nothing works. Also, 1 week ago, the ABS failure message appeared. There are multiple complaints with this problem and frankly, both of my issues are safety concerns. GM has installed defective parts as usual and now the customers are bearing the cost of repairing their failures. These are safety concerns that need to be recalled. I have recently had the intake valve seats replaced because of a GM defective part. This ABS failure concern is my number 1 concern as I have very small children.

This vehicle has an intermittent crank no start issues, as I have researched these vehicles have problems with a security system known as passlock, as I see there is known issues with this faulty system, you attempt to start it, but it only will crank not start. The only thing you can do is turn the ignition key to the on position for at least 10 minutes and let the security re-learn codes before you can start the truck. I think G.M. should be forced to fix there known problems with this, as it could be dangerous based on a situation where you need to move your vehicle in case of an emergency and it wont start.

The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Pass lock anti theft system intermittently engages, preventing the vehicle from restarting for a period of 10 minutes. This problem is a safety issue if the vehicle were to stall while operating on a freeway or major highway and can not be restarted.
