Several times in the last month, while driving at various speeds, the power steering light and the stabilitrak light come on and I loose power steering. Twice this has happened at higher speeds and on a curve, making it very difficult to control the truck. I drove to dealer, but they indicated no codes were present for the check engien light. I explained it was not check engine rather the other two mentioned above. I have had this happen 6 times now, and the quick cure is to shut the truck off and restart. This resets the electronics and the truck is fine until the next time. Lates occurance was 8/23/22.

While driving on the highway "service stabilitrack" warning suddenly appeared. The warning went away, but the light on the dash stayed illuminated as if I had manually turned off stabilitrack. Dash then indicated traction control was turned off, speedometer, rpm gauge, and temp gauge all started bouncing around and fuel range indicated "--". Also received a warning that power steering is not functioning. Vehicle would not appropriately change gears (automatic transmission), causing issues maintaining speed. I have a video of the gauges (taken by my partner while I was driving) that can be sent via email, or screenshots can be uploaded upon request. An online search yields several forum posts indicating this is a repeated issue for this model year, causing significant safety issues and leaving individuals stranded. Within forums I discovered a service bulletin regarding the issue, but it appears no one felt this was important enough to issue a recall or notify owners. I have not yet been able to get to a dealership for repairs, as this occurred on a weekend (while I am 14 hours away from home), but I will be contacting a dealer Monday morning.

my power steering will stop working intermittently. this can occur when first starting the vehicle or it can occur when traveling down the road. putting the vehicle in park and shutting the engine off then restarting and sometimes the steering comes back and sometimes it doesn't. lost steering again last week, drove approximately 10 miles and stopped by a local store. came out and started the vehicle and steering came back but the stabililink system light stayed on and the truck pulls to the left traveling down the highway. the problem is intermittent. the chevy dealer told me can't be repaired because they cannot replicate the condition. even though the service codes are set in the ECU. this has been going on for approximately 1 year or longer. extremely dangerous to drive this vehicle. no help from dealer

While driving the truck randomly loses power steering. The display screen states that the anti-lock brake system needs to be serviced. Once I turn the truck off and back on it seems to reset and work as normal. The dealer will not fix due to the truck not having any check engine lights on. This is very frustrating and a safety issue that Chevy needs to look at.

My car intermittently will display "Service power steering, drive with care" upon starting the car. If I turn off the car and let it sit for a couple seconds and restart the issue goes away. It seems to be behaving the same as N202325410 which was for the 2015 version of the same truck.

The vehicles power steering system has failed on at least six occasions while being operated over the course of the past 30 days. When the power steering system fails the vehicle display gives two warnings: First, steering assist is reduced drive with care. Second, service stablitrak. This puts the safety of the operator and others at great risk as the vehicle becomes extremely difficult to steer, especially at low speeds, as well as limits the driver's ability to drive reactively to their surroundings. This extreme loss of control has lead to uncomfortably close near collisions on two occasions. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or any other entity. There were no other warnings lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. However, the problem is highly common and with the use of a search engine one can easily come to the conclusion that the manufacturer needs to be held responsible for their faulty craftsmanship in reference to this issue.

While driving the Colorado without warning and unexpectedly will lose power steering and lock as I-??m driving. It has happened over 10 different times and most recently this past Monday 6/6/22 as I was driving and about to make a right turn. It almost caused an accident because my truck couldn-??t turn. Two service engine signs will display on the screen and after I pull over and turn off the truck then turn back on, the screen will reset and power steering works again. The Montebello Chevrolet dealer won-??t fix it because they said the check engine light is not on. This is an imminent danger on the road and needs to be fixed.

My 2016 Chevrolet Colorado power steering suddenly failed while on a winding canyon road and I received 2 error messages on my dash. One error was for -??stability track-?? the other was for -??power steering service-??. The vehicle was extremely difficult to steer and nearly impossible to turn the steering wheel if the truck was not in motion. When it was safe to do so I pulled over to check if there was a power steering leak, which there was not, I restarted the truck and the power steering came back and the error messages were cleared, making it seem like it was an electrical issue. I luckily was able to control the truck and not crash, if my wife was driving I do not believe she would have been able to steer the truck.

The power steering failed while driving at highway speeds. I was able to steer, but it became very difficult. It made it very difficult to make turns when exiting the freeway. It has happened twice since I have owned the vehicle. I have not had it checked out by the dealership yet. It flashed a brief message to he affect of "Steering Assist is Reduced Drive with Care". Then what I believe to be the Stabilitrak symbol remained illuminated until I was able to pull off of the freeway and shut the truck off for a little while.

Vehicle randomly, intermittently loses power steering and stability control. This happens at random. I took the vehicle in to a GM dealer service center, they could not find any issue and said a repair had looked like it had been done already for this issue. The issue happened again several months later, and would not go away. Before, turning off the vehicle would sometimes re-enable the power steering. This time, it did not for several days. Now I am being told the entire power steering unit must be replaced as the sensor inside is going bad and cannot be serviced and quoted $2700 for repairs! This is the same issue as was detailed on the prior year (2015) model and was recalled. This is a major safety issue and an unreasonable repair cost for customers to bear! Please recall this and demand replacement from GM!
