I am driving at night all of a sudden my lights go out and will not come back on..... come to find out the fuse box gets to hot and the wires inside are affected causing it to fail the dealer says its not under warranty and I think this should be a recall.this almost caused me to crash into someone. If I did get hurt because of this I would file a law suit.

This is in regards to the recent recall on 2005-2007 Corvette head light assembly. I have a similar problem though the electric short in the light harness caused my right blink to not function. The GM dealership that I took it to stated the whole light assembly had to be replaced. My Corvette has not been recalled as of yet and when I contact GM they don't see to understand my claim. From my understanding the harness that is causing the low beams to not work is the same harness for the entire light assembly. I had this repaired already and looking to help to get some compensation back.

Transmission is locking in park. Safety requires pressing the brake to start engine, then interlock should allow the car to be placed into drive or reverse. Instead the shifter lock is preventing the car from being placed into any gear. The shifter is locked in park.

Intermittent problem with the column lock. The lock will not register as disengaged and will not allow the engine to start. The only thing that will rectify it is pulling a battery cable for sever seconds and reattaching it. This resets the lock and allows the engine to start. The problem occurs regularly (approx 2 to 3 weeks).

In my 2005 Chevy Corvette, driving North on highway I55 near the Louisiana/ Mississippi line at 10 pm my lowbeam headlights stopped working. Used hi beams to return home. When car sits for several hours and engine compartment cools off low beams work normally. When engine compartment heats up during normal operation lights extinguish again. Researched on the Corvette forum and found this to be a common problem. The issue is in the fuse box located in the engine compartment. A wire in the box breaks at a bend. I have made the suggested repair as per the forum but felt it important to report the problem as it put me in a dangerous situation.

Vehicle will not shift from park to drive. Vehicle shift lever will not allow movement from park. Vehicle is unable to move. Repeating the following procedure, repeatedly, will eventually allow shift lever to move from the park position to drive: Exit / re-enter vehicle, wait 10 seconds, place foot on brake pedal, press ignition switch, move shift lever, repeatedly until shift lever moves or place vehicle in "accessory" mode and attempt to move shift lever. All steps may be need repeated attempts. No force, beyond typical use or pressure to move shift lever, is applied. Problem is present in any type of weather, time of day. Surface is flat and level. Vehicle not parked on incline surface. Vehicle is not abused, raced, or driven in high-performance manner. Vehicle is not driven on a daily basis.

Driving at 1-35 mph engine and electrical will shut off, all lights and engine shuts off. Put car in park, engine starts right away. In 2014 GM recall of 2005 cobalt and Pontiac for same problem, it was said that six people died. I have the same problem. This almost happened to me. I am afraid to drive the car. Called GM and talked to a specialist named scott at 1-866-790-5600 ext. 31087. I was asked to take the car back to the dealership, so they will look at it for the 3rd time. This has been going on since May 08, 2013 -- almost 1 year. Please help me before something happens to me or my family. The car is at jack schmitt Chevrolet, 127 regency park drive; O'fallon il 62269 (618) 628-2500 www.jackschmitt.com.

While driving my vehicle at night, my headlights suddenly turned off. I pulled over and restarting the car hoping it was just a minor electrical short etc. However, the headlights did not respond. I was forced to drive 20 miles in the dark with my fog lamps and at times, my high beams. I am aware of an existing investigation relating to this problem and it appears that this problem is widespread. Clearly having your headlights turn off without warning when you need them poses a significant safety hazard to myself, any passengers and other motorists. I hope the investigation will continue resulting in a conclusive outcome and a resolution identified. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you.

I started to have issues with my low beam headlights turning on in my 2005 C6 Corvette. The switch was turned to automatic and would not turn on. When the switch was turned to manual mode the low beam lights would still not turn on. The high beams and fog lamps work with regular success. When the car sits for long periods of time and the car is cool the low beam lights will turn on and stay on for a short period of time, but as soon as the car is brought up to operating temperature the low beam lights fail to work. I did some research and found out this is a major problem for 2005-2007 C6 Corvettes and the NHTSA along with Chevrolet should file an immediate recall before lives are lost. It's a easy fix with replacement of the fuse box in the engine compartment.

Water leak in 2005 Chevrolet Corvette caused very strong mold/mildew odor in the car and destroyed the passenger carpet and insulation, which were removed by technician 122 at sun Chevrolet in mcmurray, pa on 1/25/2012. Since driving the car without carpet or insulation, the metal on the passenger side does get extremely hot and could cause serious burns. This problem should be remedied immediately. Recently a rain storm caused more water to leak inside and collect under the passenger seat and almost damaged the electrical components located on the passenger floor while driving. Luckily I had a towel with me and quickly absorbed all of the water and returned back home to vacuum the remaining water before anything electric was damaged. This problem is still occurring and has been determined by a Chevrolet dealership that it may be a faulty weather strip causing the water leak. If I had been going faster at highway speeds this could have caused major damage to the cars electronics and may have even caused the car to shut off which can lead to a traffic accident and cause major injuries or death. The weather strip should be recalled and/or replaced and the leak repaired by General Motors llc at no cost because this is a safety hazard and a factory defect. I spent a lot of hard earned money on this car and did not expect any problems like this. This issue alone has already cost me $235.85 and hours of my life that I will no't get back. The problem was never resolved in 2012 and only got worse. The cost of the carpet and insulation, that were damaged and removed, is almost $1,000 for replacements and labor. General Motors llc is responsible for the leak and should provide these items at no cost as well as a replacement weather strip that does not leak as the original is a factory defect. This water leak has been documented and diagnosed by sun Chevrolet on 10/8/2013.

Driving on the freeway in traffic at night, my low beam headlights shut off and my only option was to use my hi beams. People were flashing their bright lights and I was blinding other drivers. The next day the headlights came on, then switched off 5 minutes after driving. For the last few days they have rarely even came on, and when they do, they will turn off quickly. I drive my Corvette every day, and this is very unsafe. A police officer stopped me and gave me a verbal warning last night when my lights switched off and I had to turn my bright lights on right in front of him.

My car started having intermittent low beam outages as I was driving. When I say intermittent, I mean not every time I was driving would the low beams go off. But when they did go off, they stayed off until the next day. Luckily my side lights and high beams continued to work. However, within the last three months, they go out probably 99% of the time. I recently googled this problem and saw where I'm not the only one having this problem with the 2005 Corvette.

Low beam headlight stop working after cars engine comes to running temperature. I have spent many weeks looking online and speaking with other owners and the information coming back is consistent. Fuse box under the hood is faulty and will require replacement. No running headlights is a very serious vault in my book and thought I should report the issue. I contacted GM and they were of very little help. I am still trying to work with them in regards to resolving the this matter.

Since shortly after the car was new, I have had repeated problems with the airbag malfunction indicator lighting up. I have taken the car to various authorized dealers numerous times to have the problem repaired. In all cases, the problem seems to get corrected but then reappears anywhere from several weeks to several months later. It's my understanding that when the airbag malfunction indicator is illuminated the airbag system is non-functional.
