Strong fuel smell coming from vehicle while engine isn't running. Googled and was told it's a safety recall issue with this model car and that I should file a complaint.

I filled the car up with fuel, parked it in the garage. Next day I come out to start it, and a very very strong fuel smell was coming from the vehicle. No visible leaks on floor or vehicle from what I could see, but even in the cabin it smelt horrible. I am very concerned about it being a fire hazard and possible result in death. I know for sure there is a technical service bulletin in regards to this amongst C6 Corvettes but mine has expired since my vehicle is a 2008, and it only covers 10 years or 100,000 miles. Although I only have 46K miles. I went on the corvetteforums and to my surprise there have been thousands of people with the same exact symptoms and issue.

After filling tank with gasoline there is a leak. The fumes from the leak are very strong in my garage, requiring me to ventilate the area to prevent an explosion. I do not overfill. The auto-turnoff at the pump won't allow that. Apparently the leak is where the two tanks are connected.

Parked car in the garage after a short drive. I came back into the garage about 2 hours later and there was a very strong odor of gasoline. I wheeled out my power washer and law mower but the odor remained. I left everything out of the garage but the 2008 Corvette Z06 for three days and the odor seemed to be worse. After inspecting the 2008 Corvette Z06, the fumes were coming from the rear drivers side of the car. The fumes are so strong that I cannot trust any ignition source in the garage, so I moved the car outside but pushing the car out of the garage. The 2008 Corvette Z06 was parked in my personal garage the entire time until I pushed it out into my driveway.

My car for several months had been emitting a very strong gas smell that I noticed when it was parked in the garage. When I took in my car for a regular oil, lube and filter they detected that the smell was coming from the driver side fuel tank that was wet on the top and leaking all down the side. When the dealership called me they said they would need to replace both fuel tanks and both fuel pumps with level sensors a gave me a quote of $3,468.89. I inquired if there was a recall on this safety issue with this particular model or covered under an emissions warranty. They told me that it was not a recall or under an emissions warranty. I incurred the cost of the replacement of both fuel tanks and both fuel pumps. Last week a friend of mine had mentioned that this issue should be covered under some safety/emissions warranty or recall. Upon further research found that this has been a problem for several C6 Corvette owners and people were able to get reimbursed for the costs incurred due to manufacturing issue. Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint and considering reimbursement through GM for the gas tank and fuel pump leaks. Thank you.

Gasoline smell when fuel tank is above 1/2 full. Fills the garage with dangerous gas fumes when car is parked inside. This is a common problem for the 2008 Corvette. The plastic on top of the fuel pump cracks with age causing a fuel leak. Fuel then runs down side of tank onto the exhaust. A very dangerous situation! please recall!

I continue to smell a strong odor of gasoline coming from my vehicle, inside and out. It smells particularly strong just after refueling but never really goes away. I don't see any fuel leaking onto the ground beneath car when I look for it. When I park in my garage, the smell is strongest and on many occasions it has been necessary to open both my garage doors and turn on a fan to air out the odor. Of course I am concerned that the fumes will fill up the space and become ignited by an ignition source and blow up my house or other place where I park my vehicle. My Corvette is never driven hard or raced on a track and has never been in an accident that may have dislodged fuel lines or otherwise damaged the fuel system. I have read in articles and other reports that many other Corvette owners of my vintage are experiencing or have experienced this problem where it has become serious enough to complain about. In my opinion, this is a factory production defect and must be the subject of a vehicle recall for the make and model of this year Chevrolet Corvette. Lets not wait until someone is seriously injured or even dies due to this very dangerous issue.

Upon filling the fuel tank, there is a very strong odor of gasoline while parked. This odor does not dissipate quickly. The odor is present outside the vehicle and inside the vehicle as well. I fear that this will cause a fire or an inhalation issue for the occupants. I purchased this vehicle recently from the original owner. It has 49,000 miles. I cannot locate the source of the odor. The fuel cap was tested a few days ago during dmv inspection and was not defective.

I purchased the vehicle used approximately 12 months ago. Every time I fill the fuel tank there are gas fumes that come out of the top of the the driver's side fuel tank and the entire garage smells like gasoline. I am concerned my house is going to catch fire with the gas water heater in the garage and all of the gas fumes. It appears to be the connector on top off the fuel tank where the fuel pump inserts. It is my understanding GM knows about this issue. Has a recall been issued for this serious safety issue" will the manufacturer repair this problem"

Car smells like gas around the driver side tire, in cockpit also under the gas tank when the car is filled up, noticed a few small drops of gas the other day under said location. GM as stopped fixing this, I believe this should be a full recall.
