This was a huge problem that Chevrolet should have fixed for everyone. I guess they were too busy spending their bail out money from the federal government. This is what bail outs get you.....no customer service.
Better Business Bureau here I come.

This is a piece that is up against the firewall and should not break on a 6 year old vehicle. Obviously this is a definite manufacturer defect and the repair costs should be paid for by Chevy. This is my daughter's vehicle and the estimated cost is $1500 to fix it. My husband is a mechanic and the average hours to fix this is 15-24 hours. At a shop rate of $85-$105/hr it could be anywhere from $1500 to $2400 PLUS the cost of the parts! If this is on the firewall, the manufacturer never intended for it to break but obviously the part vendor that sold it to Chevrolet has a problem with their product. Chevrolet needs to do an investigation NOW and get the vendor of these parts to replace these parts.

The heater stopped blowing hot air. I live in a state where it snows 6 months out of the year. The repair shop told me they couldn't fix the problem and said I had to take it to the dealer.

NO heat opened a call with GM customer support and they offered to pay 25% of the cost on 623.00 plus tax. I told the customer care rep that I would take no less than 50% and I had told him this earlier. The dealership offered 25% I told them that for $300 you are willing to let a return customer 3 times in the the last 10 years I said ok then see ya later.
The is the last $@#!#$@! GM I will buy. I hope they go Bankrupt again and this time no TAXPAYER Money to baill them out, when thye produce crap like this and they know that they have an issue but just keep backpedaling hoping we will all just go away.....

I have 2006 chevy equinox that has no heat because of a plastic blend door failure. I have done some research there seems to be alot others out there like me . I work full time to pay for this piece of junk and in order to fix it ill have to do it myself becuase i can not afford to take it to a dealer to fix it for 1200 dollars. i think this part should be recalled , how can they think its not a safety issue when u have to drive it to work in the snow . snow - [ no heat ] = not safe at all .RECALL IT GM

My heater stopped working a year ago. I have a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. I called the dealership to ask them to fix it. They told me they could only help if I took the car to a local dealership and have them find the problem. I did and it cost me 95.00. I call the corporate office back and gave them my claim number and they would not fix it. The only thing I was told is they would mark my claim as an unsatisfied customer. I have research this problem and my car is not the only one with this problem. I have gone through two winters without heat. Thank God! it has not been so cold yet.

The mileage is approximate, I didn't look at the odometer when it happened. I was quoted an estimate of $1400 from a mechanic/garage I trust, and $1500 (approx.) from the local GM Dealership Service Center.
The fact that GM won't recall this part/problem is completely irresponsible on their part. Why was it considered a serious enough defect to be recalled in the 2010 models and not the 2006?
This vehicle was purchased brand new at my local GM dealership, and will be paid off in just a few months. With what it is going to cost to fix it, I could pay it off, but I am not able to get into another car loan right now.
Despite the other small "glitches" this vehicle has had (cruise control working only when it wants to, fuses in the power outlets constantly blowing, both which were deemed "no problem found" by my local dealership service dept), I really liked this SUV. I was actually considering purchasing a newer model. I have been a loyal GM customer for years, but their refusal to recall this defective part makes me seriously rethink that loyalty.

Very upset with cheap plastic that Chevy used for a part that is so complicated to replace. The whole dash has to be torn apart down to the firewall.I am unable to drive my vehicle because it blows cold air in cold weather and hot air in hot weather. If Chevy does not make this a recall, I will NOT BUY ANOTHER CHEVY!

most of the cost was labor. the door was 30 something part. no other mechanic would touch it, liability to disconnect the air bag.
