While turning left on a major intersection the check engine light and stabilitac light with a warning of reduced engine power came on. The car could only go 5 mph which was caused me to slowly go through the intersection. Two on coming cars had to slam on their breaks to avoid me. The dealer found a defective throttle body. They said the car is program to go into reduced engine power mode when the computer detects this issue. The safety issue is this come on with out warning, in the middle of intersections. Search the web and you will find that many with this type of car from GM are having this issue. I think there should be a recall for the defective throttle body for those not replaced yet and a reimbursement for those already paid. I had to pay $400.64 for this safety repair so I could a avoid future accidents when turning at intersections. The repair details are on file at the dealer.

When accelerating to pull onto highway, engine stalls with no response from accelerator pedal and sometimes engine completely shuts off and you have to restart the vehicle. This is an intermittent problem that happens often. My vehicle has been to the dealer several times for this issue but the dealership has yet to find the problem. I have also contacted Chevrolet customer support about this problem and told them of my concerns of having an accident because of this issue. I have researched this problem on the internet and found owners of 2010-12 Chevrolet Equinoxs all over the United States are having the same problem.

My car began chugging, losing power and eventually stalled as I came to a stop. This began when I slowed my vehicle on three separate occasions (once when I slowed to turn a corner- 2012, once when I slowed to stop at a light-3/2013 and the third time was when sitting idle with my foot on the brake-2/2013.) each time my gas tank was less than half full but at different levels at each occurrence. My check engine light came on after the incidents. After the car stalled, I turned it off and was able to start it back up without incident each time. The car rides rough and is now making a rattling/rubbing noise. I have had two code checks; one returned as an issue in bank one with 3 potential issues: Oxygen sensor, fuel injection system or ignition misfire. The second code check was code PO172, fuel too rich. After the first code check, we replaced the O2 sensor and the car stalled the next day so the codes were checked again after my check engine light came back on. Other issues: *driver side lumbar support broke. Chair rocks a little but is still usable (albeit probably not safe): December, 2012 jerks/shifts roughly when slowing down or shifting from second to third. Also, when you turn off the cruise control, it slows down significantly and abruptly. (current issue and an issue since the day I bought the car in August, 2009. *climate control stuck on high (documented recall that I was not notified about.) *weather stripping on the inside of the passenger front door stuck to the door and pulled off when the door was opened (unknown month, 2010) *driver side bottom part of seat cushion came unattached from seat base when I pulled it to the side to get an item that dropped down near the console (unknown month 2010) *constant knocking in the engine (been an issue since shortly after I bought it).

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the engine and the stability lights illuminated followed by a dinging noise. The vehicle slowed to 20 mph and then stalled. The vehicle was merged to the shoulder and was restarted after fifteen minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on more than one occasion who stated that the fuel pump and throttle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was awaiting a return call. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 82,000.

I purchased a brand new Equinox from Chevrolet in 08/31/2010. Since 10/30/2010, I've had ongoing issues with this vehicle. Two incidents of which, I almost had near-death car accidents. This is the third time I am in a rental car, totaling to about a month so far in rentals. First incident in October, I had to drive with my hazards on to even get to the dealership. My speedometer and tech would accelerate, however, it felt like I was in neutral. It was serviced for about 2-3 weeks and they said they fixed the problem. Then 2 weeks ago, I had just got off a 3-lane 65 mph highway, when my vehicle stalled on me. I remember looking down at the dash while I was driving, the speedometer said I was going 100 mph but I wasn't moving. I was nearly rear-ended being on a highway. Luckily, I was able to get over a lane and pull over. The car wouldn't allow me to move or reverse. I was in a rental for about a week while they examined my car. Chevrolet/GM said they were unable to find anything wrong with my car and forced me to return the rental and drive my car. I have written documentation stated they were unable to find anything wrong with my vehicle. Now the third incident, I was driving in philadelphia on a way to a wedding. My car stalled multiple times, causing me to pull over on broad street about 4 times, just to turn my car off and on to attempt to move it. It was a hazard to myself and on the road, I almost got hit multiple times. Chevrolet said they found the problem with my car, but how am I suppose to trust them when they never trusted me when I said something was wrong. This car is brand-new and this is the third occurrence of the same issue. I feel completely unsafe driving this vehicle and my confidence has plummeted. Please advise me of what to do.

While driving on level pavement at 65 mph, with my cruise control on, all of a sudden, the vehicle downshifted 2 gears, and the tach rose to 5300 rpms. I tapped the brake pedal, and it disengaged the cruise and proceeded in a normal condition.
