Timing belt failed within two years of the first time being fixed. First time was when vehicle was purchased used at approx 123K, second time it has failed is approx 179K. There is an ongoing oil consumption issue with the vehicle. I have heard that there is a recall on the oil issue that was not publically announced and I would like to find out why it wasnt if in fact this is an issue. Timing belt should not fail twice. Took vehicle in to shop after vehicle began shaking violently and jumping while stopped at a light, in drive with the breaks on. When I went to drive, vechicle would drive but had severe loss in poer and was vibrating the whole time. Upon taking to the shop and having an engine diagnostic test done, it was confirmed that the timing chain was indeed stretched out and would need to be repaired at a cost of $2500. This repair had been made two years prior as well, having had to replace the chains and such due to this recurring and ongoign oil issue

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (dave white Chevrolet, 5880 monroe St, sylvania, oh 43560) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle made abnormally loud winding and knocking noises. The vehicle stalled and the check engine indicator illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil. The contact stated that the oil dispenser was empty and more oil was added to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the timing chain/belt needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 107,000. The VIN was not provided.

Wiper blade motor stopped working in a heavy downpour. I was on a road I know so was able to pull off safely. If I didn't know this road I am positive I would have had an accident. The manifold was changed in 2013. Today is March 22, 2018. Last week I had the manifold changed again. Cracked again. There were fumes coming into the passenger area. The car is in the repair garage again because the fumes are even worse. The car has always had a loud ticking sound. It uses a lot of oil. I complained to the dealer before the warranty ran out. They did an oil consumption test and said the oil use was within normal range. How can this be normal range when I put a couple quarts of oil every 200 miles. This car is junk.

The 2011 Chevrolet Equinox I own started to idle really high then really low and made the car speed up and then the idle speed would drop to a point where the engine would die. You would have no pedal control at all just rolling along on a city street. It happened out of the blue and was very scary in busy traffic. I brought the car to the Chevrolet dealership and was informed that they had special coverages on the vehicle that I was never notified about.(even though I owned the car at the time the special coverages were released). The dealership told me that Chevrolet was well aware that this car has a problem with excessive oil consumption. (I already new that with oil changes and having to add a quart of oil every 1000 miles). The dealership also informed me that Chevrolet, new that the timing chain on this vehicle would break and be very dangerous to the engine. The dealership said they would also fix that on special coverages. I told them to go ahead and fix these two issues. They took the engine apart, and informed me that because of these 2 issues that GM and Chevrolet were well aware of, it had scoring in my cylinders. The vehicle was extremely dangerous to be driving because it would idle out of control and shut itself off out of nowhere. The dealership was confident that the scoring on the cylinders was a direct result of the two issues that were covered under the special coverages. I was never notified of any of these special coverages from GM or Chevrolet. Chevrolet customer service told me they had my address correct but could not confirm that the notices were sent to me for the special coverages. My family and I were in danger driving this vehicle, and Chevrolet new all about the dangers in driving this vehicle. I now have a car sitting at the dealership with a blown engine and Chevrolet won't do anything for me. There should have been recalls.

I just had to replace the exhaust manifold for the second time in 2 years on my 2011 Chevy Equinox due to very large cracks. The car has around 90,000 miles on it and I realoze it's 7 years old, but I tale pretty good care of it and get regular maintence usually at an actual Chevy dealership. The first time I expressed my suprise to the mechanic when he yold me there was a very large crack in the exhaust manifold. His response was that Chevy equinoxes are widely known to go through manifolds quickly and frequently, again this was at an actual Chevy service station at a Chevy dealership. The second time less than 2 years later when the check engine light came on again I took my vehicle to th aaa certified care care center and again same thing, manifold large crack must be replaced and aaa tech told me same story, Chevy Equinox manifold are widely known not to last. Only this time in addition to the manifold, the cracked manifold had somehow caused damage to the catalytic converter which is now broken and must be replaced. So my question is, if these are widely known defects among 2010-2011 Chevy equinoxes, why hasnt Chevy issued recalls for manifolds and caralytic converters?

Ever since I have bought this vehicle it is a lemon. I have all the receipts as well as research that GM needs to recall this vehicle due to safety issues and everyone has the same problem as myself. From the oil consumption and still having problems and even smells like burning causing odor which is very strong, stalling issues where my car has even stopped in the middle of the highway after a new engine was put in, the engine ticking still does and stalling even with new engine put in have video of the sounds it makes that they can't seem to figure out what's going on after all this time and the clattering noise when the car is started. I have contacted GM numerous times because I do not feel safe with me nor my children in this car. With all the complaints online and they still won't recall the vehicle and be concerned for the safety of the customer. I have all my receipts as well as all the research I have done and even the dealer keeps giving me the run around with everything wrong with it and says it's something different all the time just to try and get more money and still having to take it in the shop but this time was told oh it's not safe to drive but yet tried to say it was the tires this time which it wasn't because there is brand new tires on it. So I hate driving this car even to work let alone with my children because I don't know when it will stop again and cause me to wreck or get hit or even the fumes causing problems which they don't need to inhale. GM needs to recall this vehicle because of all the issues I have had and still continue to have and provide me with a safer vehicle. I have already filed with the BBB and will be speaking with state attorney general as well. If need proof of receipts I can fax those.

I own a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox ls AWD with roughly 86,000 miles. While driving back an appointment this morning, the vehicle began to sputter and the "engine reduced power"/"service stabilitrak system" lights turned on. I was on the interstate with morning traffic that was going 70mph (the speed limit) and higher. The vehicle's RPM reduced suddenly and drastically, and I was only able to sustain 40mph. I was alone. I coasted off the highway as quickly as I could, stopped at the multi-lane intersection, and the vehicle completely shut off. I could not restart it. It was 9 degrees outside with snow on the ground, and the heat stopped working in the vehicle, too. The power steering shut down. I had to wait outside to direct traffic so that I would not get hit. It was a frightening experience. After the tow to the dealership, the mechanic notified me that the entire engine needs to be replaced, quoting me between $2300 for a used engine and $6500 for a new one. Corporate has only offered 10% cost share for a new engine. This is unacceptable and a known issue based on consumer complaints I have read. The complaints are consistent and point to engine failure with total replacement in the range I was quoted. I do not have the money to replace the engine, and it is a shame that a vehicle with so few miles and years needs this type of repair! furthermore, I could have been severely injured or worse, as has happened to many others! this vehicle has had no collisions, no major damages, and I have kept up with all recommended maintenance. Now I have no vehicle, no possibility to recover its value, and I am devastated about the financial blow.

Engine failed due to excessive oil consumption. I was in the process of working through an oil consumption test with the dealership but was unable to finish. My car failed thankfully while it was stationary in my driveway. It is my understanding that this failure could have happened at any time even with my kids in the car or on the highway. I've been told that due to the vehicle consuming excessive oil between regular oil changes it results in issues with the timing chain which eventually lead to engine issues and ultimately failure. There is currently a technical service bulletin released by GM for the known issue but no information was even sent to me about the issue so that I could be made aware of it and monitor the problem.

"takata recall" my vehicle is have problem with oil consumption, exhaust fumes coming out of the heater and a rattling noise. I took it into the shop in the car mechanic informed me that that the problem is not worth fixing because the year make and model keeps giving problems. He said he worked on the same type of vehicle multiple times in every 2011 Chevy Equinox has had the same problems. He said it's not worth putting the money into and that that year was a faulty car and to find out if there was a recall because of the negative reports. I looked online no recall so I'm wondering why multiple vehicles are having the same situation. He said he spoke with my car dealership and they said that this problem is very common. And just today my vehicle engine started smoking. I'm working on getting a problem.

In 2014 failed oil consumption test got work done on engine replacing piston and etc now I had (1/2018 ) vehicle shutting off at stop signs or lights.took vechicle to personal mechanic it was down a quart or oil but wasn't due for another oil change till 109.000 miles.car was at 106,000 miles at this time. Was told that I needed an upper fuel pump, cam shaft, timing chain set.and plugs misfired. After calling GMC I was told that I had no warranties left. So I called the Chevy certified dealer who perform the engine work in 2014. I was told that their warranty only last for a year and that I have special coverage still left that may aplly but would have to be inspected by their specialist and $100 fee.now mind you my car was already being worked on at my private mechanic.after paying $1375 for all the issues listed above my catalyst converter is bad. I been having ongoing engine issues with this vechicle.

Without warning my check oil pressure light illuminated. I had less than a block to get to the side of the highway before my engine failed. After having it inspected by 3 different inspectors, it was determined that my PCV valve froze and caused my rear main seal to leak all my oil very rapidly. This in turn caused my engine to seize. This pvc issue is a known issue and no recall has been issued. This is something GM needs to take owership of and correct! this is an extreme safety hazard!
