My windshield wipers were engaged while I was driving and they stopped working. I can hear noise from the wipers but they won't move. I can easily move them eith my hand.

While driving down the road on March 9 2020 the windshield wipers stopoed working. You could hear the motor part running but they were not moving abd it was raining. Very scary. We were able to get to an auto part store and buy rain X until we could get to a shop. Mechanic reveal the bushings were worn and popped off. Busings could not be replaced so a new transmission had tobe replaced total $186

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving during inclement weather, the windshield wipers became inoperable which limited the visibility of the roadway. The driver was able to coast into a parking lot until the rain was over. There was no warning lights illuminated. The contact called jim price auto group located at (2150 seminole trail, charlottesville va 22901), and a diagnostic testing appointment was scheduled. The contact was informed that the link ball socket in the wiper transmission separated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 80,583.

I was driving on I-285 in atlanta during a heavy rain storm on my way to work at 6:15am. As I was approaching the I-20 East exit my windshield wipers got stuck. Please note, the I-20 East exit is located on the far left lane of the I-20 expressway. I quickly tried turning the windshield wiper on/off to see if it would reset, but there was no movement. The heavy rains/storm completely blocked my visibility. I used my right side view mirror and rear view mirror to cross five lanes across I-285. As I had made my way to the right side of I-285, there was not a shoulder lane. I had to stop the vehicle and turned on my intermittent lights to prevent from being rear ended. When the rain slowed down and I quickly got off the next exit on I-20 West and parked on the shoulder lane as I exited off the ramp. My husband picked me up from the highway because I was nervous and scared. My vehicle was parked until the rain stopped 2.5 hours later because it was not drivable due to the heavy rain/storm. I checked if there was a recall for my vehicle and could not locate any recalls for windshield wiper problems for the year of my vehicle. There were recalls for previous model years. As soon as the rain stopped, my husband took the car to the dealer where they confirmed there were no active recalls. I was also not informed by Chevrolet about the potential issue. After my experience, I did some research and discovered noticed multiple complaints regarding the same issue via this site and other chat groups. The dealer replaced the windshield wiper module and I was not charged for the service. I am reporting this incident because owners / drivers of the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox should not learn about this safety hazard the same way I learned about it. The experience was a scary one that I am thankful did not turn into an accident or a tragic event.

I received a notice from GM on my 2015 Chevrolet Equinox on 2/6/20 stating that there may be a condition where a link ball socket in the wiper transmission may separate. If this were to occur, the driver would experience a sudden loss of wiper function! after talking with GM and the dealer, was told this does not constitute a recall. I strongly disagree!

2015 Chevrolet Equinox. I was driving on the highway at 60 mph when sunroof shattered. I heard a loud noise and did not see anything that could have hit my car. I pulled the cover back on the sunroof to see if I could see what happened. The only thing I could see was glass cracked into a million pieces. The sunroof shattered out of no where. Glass flew off the top of my SUV while other drivers were behind me, which put many drivers in danger. First my wipers stop working out of the blue and now my sunroof shatters. These vehichles are defective and not safe to drive. Recalls should be issued for the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox in the United States before someone is seriously injured or looses their life.

I was driving down a two way road when it started pouring all of a sudden like it tends to do where I live. I turned on my wipers and they only worked for a couple of minutes before the passenger side wiper turned past the windshield and got stuck in that position. I could not see a thing and had to pull over until the rain stopped, this is way too dangerous. I'm lucky this didn't happen while on the freeway. I tried to turn the wipers on and they would not move. Why hasn't GM addressed this issue? I read that there was a recall for 2013 models and in Canada they recalled models up to 2016.

On Sunday, August 18, 2019, about 7:30 am while driving on a 3 lane highway going about 55 mph during a heavy rain downpour, my windshield wipers completely stopped working. They suddenly stopped moving while in motion, one extending off the windshield, the other stopped in the middle of the windshield. I instantly had zero visibility and was in danger of crashing. There were many other vehicles driving on the highway. I was terrified but somehow managed to maneuver my vehicle to the side of the road by rolling down my window and sticking my head out to see just enough to pull over safely. My ordeal was not over because the side of the highway was not that wide and due to the nature of my job, I was fully aware that it is extremely dangerous to be on the side of a highway, especially during bad weather, because other drivers might not see you and completely crash into you going full speed, thus my life was in serious danger. I frantically located and called for roadside assistance while watching traffic anxiously in my rear view mirror. I was in complete panic mode and could barely Focus. I decided that it was too dangerous to wait there for emergency help so I got out of my car and manually wiped the windshield clear and began driving on the shoulder slowly to the nearest exit which was about 3/4 mile away. I made it off of the highway and drove cautiously until I made it home. My ordeal was traumatizing. What made this entire nightmare worse is that after going online to try to find out what could have been the cause of the wiper fail, I saw that this exact same problem had happened to many other owners of the same vehicle and Chevy has yet to recall the wipers. I had my wipers fixed by a Chevy dealer in homewood il., the repair mechanic had seen my problem many times. This is an outrage. Does Chevy care about their customers lives?

I was driving about an hour and a half away in December in Indiana on the interstate going 70 mph and it started to snow/rain. I turned my wipers on and they stopped working with the wipers still in my view. I had to pull over and move them to see and the car was not drivable due to the weather conditions. I had to find a parts store that had the wiper blade transmission linkage and spent $170 to fix it. I feel like this is a safety hazard while trying to use the wipers in the weather conditions because there is nothing you can do to fix it right away!
