I have had the ignition switch repaired under the recall thinking this might help the problem. I will be driving down the road when the steering will lock up and the car slows and cuts off. I have had several near miss accidents with other cars and am literally afraid to drive the car anymore. I have taken the car to several other dealers and they claim they are unable to determine what is wrong or how to fix it. It is only a mater of time before I have an accident and injure myself or others.

The consumer stated the key fit the same way it did prior to the repair; it still had play in the fit and it was not secure. Secondly, the ignition switch itself still had the same amount of play in it, after the so called repair.

During freezing rain the rear window defroster quit operating making visibility out the rear window little to none. After troubleshooting, the problem came from a wiring harness below the fusebox on the passenger side of the vehicle by the passenger foot area. The wire for the rear window defroster had melted at the point inside the connector melting the plastic, and is a fire hazard. After researching this issue, many newer Chevrolet Impala have encountered this issue, and it should be addressed.

Our 2008 Chevrolet Impala is under the recall for the ignition switch. We have the letter. Car was at the dealer for 4 weeks and they didn't fix it. They said to take the remote off the key and only have the key in the ignition with nothing else on the key and no other fix is available. We feel the car is unsafe to drive at highway speeds should the car shut off. The dealer is fowler Chevrolet in tulsa, Oklahoma.and they refuse to provide us a loaner car. What are we to do?

After going through a small puddle, serp belt slips, lose power steering, cant hardly control car. If it happened with my wife driving in traffic could be very bad. Went to beard Chevrolet a month ago (this has been happening several mos) and was told it's normal, and in new cars they went to electric ps because of it. That doesn't console me with an otherwise perfectly running car. I had replaced the tensioner and serp belt already before going to the dealer.

I have been having a problem with the ac vent trying to close when I shut off the car. It makes a loud sputtering clunking sound after the car shuts off. I was told it is the vent trying to close and would have to replace a motor for $2-300 plus labor. Anytime I start the car up, it makes a high pitch squealing sound under the hood and stops when I back out of park.
