I own a 2002 Chevy Malibu and I am experiencing an intermittent clicking noise coming from somewhere in the dash. I took it to the dealership and their diagnosis was "small intermittent voltage bleed from the turn signal switch. Needs the switch replaced." Although I referred the to the defect found by the ODI, GM refused to replace the switch at no cost because their internal policy is that they will only replace the hazard switch. When I showed that the report listed the components as the hazard switch and the turn signal switch. They still declined. They stated that although the two exhibit the same symptoms, their policy states they only cover the hazard switch alone. They recommended replacing the turn signal switch at my cost. Then "if the problem persists, which it may, then replace the hazard switch." Which at that point, I would be eligible to replace the hazard switch at no cost.

I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu. It has the turn signal/flasher problem that was covered in PE05055. The dealer installed the new flasher per the service letter but this did not fix the problem. Dealer wants $94 to diagnose the real problem plus possibly hundreds to fix it. Chevy customer service will not do anything until I pay for the diagnosis, even then they will not give any assurances. A quick internet search indicates that many others have had similar experiences. I think that you closed your investigation prematurely.

The seal on the back lights gets bad and allows moisture to get in and short out the brake, turn signal and back up lights. Repairs are over $200 and they cannot guarantee it will not happen when the lighting housing is replaced. This should be a recall, because living near atlanta, brake lights and turn signals are very important. I never know when they are working. This is very dangerous. Come on GM, make drivers of your vehicles safe!!!!!

My car is a 2002 Chevy Malibu. I am experiencing turn signal failure and hazardous emergency light failure the turn signal works on occasion only. There are times when it does not work at all ( many occasions ). an average % of how often it works is about 5 %, the other 95 % of the time it doesn't work at all. My emergency lights won't come on sometimes. There is a clicking noise being heard within the car almost all of the time. The sound appears to be coming from the hazard emergency light switch. Also, my remote keyless entry is not working. It won't unlock the car doors or the trunk. I have to press it at close range at least about 10 times maybe more before it will unlock the car doors or open the trunk.

Turn signal failures, emergency signal failure & theft system my car's signals work off and on. When I go to use my turn signal sometimes it does not work sometimes it does. What I usually have to do is activate the turn signal and then hold down the emergency hazard button which may or may not activate my signal to work. If I can not get this to work then I am unable to use my signals at all. The theft system activates on the car causing the car not to start until I allow it to sit for 10 minutes to correct its self. Sometimes the car will not restart after the 10 minutes that the manual says to wait. My car is a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu.

In 2002, I bought a 2002 Chevy Malibu. Since then it's been giving me a lot of problems. The first problem was the water found in both tail lights; this was under warranty. Then there was water coming in the driver side window, the brakes, and the torque needing to be reprogrammed. Then it was the headlights going out and I got them replaced at a walmart; mind you, since the 1st problem, none of this has been under warranty. Now it's the airbag gone bad, cooling system gone bad, and the brakes again, along with a fuel pump. The calipers have to be replaced still, the airbag needs to be checked out, and the car is in the shop now to diagnose what is wrong within the fueling system that makes the car not start. Oh! I almost forgot, I purchased a battery 2 weeks ago because that went out. I always stay on top of my service for the car. This car is 3 years old and I bought it new off the lot. It sucks!

I bought my Chevrolet 2002 Malibu brand new and have owned it for three years, just two months ago it started having intermittent turn signal problems. I have tried little things like manually using turn signals and turning them off prior to turn completion, restarting the car, and using my hazzard lights to trigger the turn signals to work. Sometimes these things will work momentarily, other times they have no effect. Also I am noticing my hazard lights do not always work, and sometimes they will interrupt my turn signal from working and other times my turn signal will cause the hazard lights to turn off! this has almost caused several accidents for me, is a very dangerous situation. The dealership will not help me, my car is just past the warranty period and they want to test it for a rather large fee. Although my research on this problem has told me that GM has not fixed the problem in 2002, but possibly in 2001, and 2000 models. I am very disappointed, and will not own a Chevy again.
