I now have to waste a trip to the dealer (who's an asshole in my opinion) to find out IF mine will be fixed by them or me.
Then I have to go back AGAIN to get it fixed.
I'm just glad it isn't a ford at this point.

I was driving to Atlanta to pick up my brother when it seemed like I was speeding like crazy. Well after I came to a complete stop I figured out that my speedometer working working properly. I then had to drive 2 hours home with traffic hoping I wasn't speeding. I haven't really had any problem with my truck but I've only got 38000 miles and change on it. Come on are you serious? What a pain in the ass.

chevy has had a constant problems with their speedometers in2003 thru2004 but it seems they don't have a recall for the 2005silverado. I only had the truck for about a year and I need to get it to the shop before I get a speeding ticket. The digital portion of the speedometer works. But the needle portion does not

My speedometer started to act up around 80,000 miles, I took it to the dealer and they said my truck was beyond the warranty period and told me what it would cost to replace. I was talking to a friend of mine about this and he remembered getting a letter from GM notifying him of this very same problem on his 2004 Silverado. They said to take it to the dealer and have it fixed or they would reimburse him if he had already had it corrected. Well my speedometer went out totally around 100,000 miles. I wrote a letter to GM and sent them a copy of my friends letter, they actually called me and said that the defect had been corrected in 2005 models. I bought my 2005 in January of 2005, ya think it was mfg in 2004????? Anyway I had to pay to get it fixed, the mechanic ordered the new part from the dealer and guess what - the new one has about 5,000 miles on it and is already making the noises the old one made before it started acting up. GM fixed the problem and they aren't taking any responsibility!

Of course it happened after the warranty was done . Its very hard to drive without knowing how fast your going ,and my mechanic says its very expensive to fix.

My speed odometer stopped working at about 80,000 miles. I have had so many small problems with this truck that my next truck will be from Japan !!! I love America but I cannot continue to pay more and receive a inferior product, that dog don't hunt.
