The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the hydraulic antilock system failed. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign id number: 05V379000 (service brakes: Hydraulic anti lock) January 19, 2007. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that they would not be able to assist with any further repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage and failure mileages were 130,000.

I have been having several brake issues with my truck within the last year. My latest problem has been the ABS engaging at a near stop around 5 mph. This happens several times within a short trip. After researching this over the internet it appears to be a problem with quite a few Chevy truck owners. I work for a major auto parts retailer and have asked several mechanics of a fix or solution. There seems to be quite a few diagnosis mentioned. I would just like to fix my truck properly and not have to worry about getting into an accident with my wife and kids in the truck.

ABS actuates at slow speeds when brakes are applied. Wheels are not locked or skidding when ABS actuates. This issue is recurring and has caused the truck to have excessive stopping distances while the ABS is engaged. Multiple times we have almost his something because of this problem.

When applying brakes suddenly to avoid hitting another vehicle, brake line ruptured causing loss of brakes. Was able to apply emergency brake before running off road. Took truck to meineke dealer and had ruptured brake line replaced and all others inspected. Mechanic reported ruptured brake line was severely corroded.

The parking brake on my truck will not hold as it should, thus causing vehicle to roll down driveway. There is a recall for Silverado's with manual transmissions, ( defect investigation # EA04011 GM recall #05042 NHTSA campaign id# 05V161000) mine is a automatic, but the auto and manual use the same parking brake set-up. I have done some reading on-line Chevrolet truck forums and there are allot of Silverado/SUV GM owners with automatics that have this same type of brake system that are having the same issue, not holding due to premature wear out of parking brake shoe lining. There is also a GM tech serv bull for this matter as well, but not a recall for the vehicles with auto transmissions, what are the owners of automatics less important. The tsb has the dealers replace the spring retainer clip just as the recall does. I think the tsb needs to take a hard look at the parking brake issues on the trucks/SUVS with automatic transmissions as well.

On 11/09/11 I brought my truck in for state inspection. Two minutes after giving the keys to the mechanic, he came back and said that the truck had no brakes. The hydraulic brake line ruptured as he attempted to bring the truck into the garage to inspect. The hydraulic brake lines are all completely rusted to the point that they all need replaced. This is a serious safety issue. Not only should this be recalled and repaired at GM's expense, , more importantly the material that future hydraulic brake lines are made of, need to be regulated as to be a rust free material.

I am having problems with my 2002 Chevy Silverado anti lock brakes. Brakes activate at speeds lower than 5 miles an hour, and extends my braking distance, which has almost caused several accidents. This is the same problem that is occurring under recall bulletin 05068B, but my vehicles VIN number is not listed in the recall. Can the recall bulletin be revised to include my VIN number, due to my vehicle is experiencing the same problems? I have spoke with chvey corporate customer service and the dealership, about covering the cost of the repairs or at least partial cost, both refuse to cover anything because the VIN # is not listed in the recall bulletin.

Hit a shopping cart stand at a shopping center because as I was turning into the parking spot and applying the brakes so control the vehicle speed the anti lock braking violently pulsed the brakes and not slowing the vehicle down. Although I tightened the turn I still made contact with the upper rail causing damage to the parking light before coming to a complete stop. Had the brakes functioned properly the vehicle would have not been damaged. Because of the low speed, no other damage occurred, just broke the plastic.

My Silverado pickup has had two problems that caused low-speed inappropriate activation of the ABS, lengthening stopping distances. Once, about five years ago, and again this year. On both occasions the front wheel bearing hubs had to be replaced to remedy the problem. The bearings are sealed and not serviceable, and when they wear the air gap under the anti-lock sensor starts varying, causing erroneous signals to the ABS. The first symptom is dangerous application of the ABS at low speed. (I nearly hit the building I was approaching while parking.)

Rear brake line failed due to corrosion at bracket just above rear end, after replacing that line a second line failed 12 inches in front of ABS controller below driver compartment, this was also due to corrosion. When the failure occurred the truck was nearly unstoppable, I had to swerve off the road into the ditch to avoid a left turning vehicle.

I had all the brake lines replaced with stainless steel lines from classic tube, I hope you mandate that GM pay for all repairs with submitted bills and $ $2000 in compensation for the aggravation.

After leaving my house I attempted to stop at the end of my street only to find that my brakes had failed! I turned around at the next street to return home. I had about 20% brake function so I drove at about 5 miles per hour. On my return home a little dog ran out in front of my truck, I was unable to stop and consequently ran over her. She died immediately, I felt horrible. The emergency brake was applied but too late! the truck has a stainless steel exhaust system but rusty brake lines (poor engineering or cost planning?). incidentally I was on my way to I-75 where I would of been traveling at 70 miles per hour. If the failure had occurred then, who knows what would of happened? I also have a 1997 Blazer that lost its brakes due to brake line rust and fluid leakage. This happened at 55 miles per hour, but I was left with approximately 50% braking power. The difference in braking capacity after failure was dramatic. Also there was no warning light illuminated during and after the event. It only came on after the truck was stopped and restarted.

Brake line failure due to excessive rust and corrosion. Luckily I was on a side street diving slow and approaching a stop sign. When I went to stop the pedal went to the floor. I had to use the E-brake to stop and brake fluid was pouring out the bottom of the truck from a very rusted and broken brake line. Why won't GM do anything about this"??????"

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph downhill when force was applied repeatedly to the brake however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. Upon engaging the emergency brake the vehicle came to a stop. The contact inspected the vehicle and detected brake fluid leakage. In addition, there was rust corrosion within the brake lines. The contact planned to notify the manufacturer regarding the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The brake lines just under the driver side door failed. The failure was instant with no brakes what so ever. Per dealer all lines need replaced due to rust. Very expensive. I know of others that have failed. This is definitely a safety issue. This is farm truck, I was preparing to haul hay using a goose neck trailer, if this would have happened with a load, I would have crashed...

I was driving along and came to a right hand turn and when I hit the brake, the pedal hit the floor so I missed my turn. Had there been a car in front of me I would have hit them for sure. So I had to take a high speed turn and ran off the road to make the turn so I had no brakes at al. I had no brakes on the front and one rear E-brake backing plate rotted off my truck back in 2007. I have always owned GM trucks and this one is a big let down and it all most killed me. If I had to guess the date was sometime in June of this year.

Started truck, brake pedal went to floor. Brake fluid under truck. Brake lines rotted out under drivers door between master cylinder and ABS box. Had to use parking brake to stop vehicle. Luckily my children were not playing in the driveway, or that I was not on the highway. Huge safety issue, and from hundreds of complaints on internet this is a design flaw, not a fluke, or environmental issue. I had inspected at dealer a year ago and they said lines were fine. This was after spending $2000 to replace other rusted brake components. Brakes had been replaced at 20,000 miles also. Truck has been used on highway miles mostly, and has never plowed, or towed, or been used near water.

The crash was minor and the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the contact was informed that some of the braking sensors would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 78,300. The VIN was not available.

When coming to a complete stop while parking I noticed that the brake pedal went completely to the floor. I parked and got out of my vehicle and looked under the vehicle and noticed brake fluid coming out of the rear driver side. The brake line was completely rusted through. I had the line replaced but the other lines are also looking rusted. I do not use my vehicle off road or long distance driving, just around town. This is a serious issue with the safety of the vehicle.

Brake lines and fuel lines must be replaced due to excessive rusting. Blew a brake line and had no brakes at all. Additionally, the frame has rusted through and had to be welded. Looking at repair costs between $1500 - $3000 depending upon how this goes.
