Silverado 1500

  • 10,000 miles
While traveling with the vehicle cruise control set at 45mph the vehicle dropped from 6 cylinders to 4 cylinders. When the vehicle was in 4 cylinder mode and it had to accelerate the entire passenger compartment started to violently vibrate (sorry but that??S the best description I can give) almost lost control of the vehicle. This is a recurring problem Chevrolet so far has changed the tires, realigned the catalytic converter, replaced the exhaust clamps, attempted to replace the entire exhaust system. None of these have yet to resolve the problem. This occurs at all speeds with or without cruise control engaged.

The vehicle was serviced at landers Chevrolet, benton, ar 72015, on 10/30/14. The dealership changed the oil. On November 6, 2014, the engine stopped while being driven down the street at a rate of 35 mph. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. The dealership refused to replace the vehicle under warranty. The service manager states that the back tires are worn which indicates abuse. GM was contacted several times and every time we have contacted them, the representatives have stated that the tires have nothing to do with the engine and the engine is under warranty and has to be replaced. GM then contacted the dealership, and the dealership contacted me and told me that their GM rep. Stated that he did not have to replace the engine due to the tires. We contacted GM again and when the representative called us back, they stated that they are not going to replace the engine under warranty based on the dealership.

Truck engine completely shut off while driving in normal traffic. Coasted to side of the road and restarted the truck. Check engine light was on solid. Took to a Chevrolet dealer who refused to work on it but told me the 3 codes showing related to the camshaft. Drove the truck home and it felt like it was misfiring as it was jerking around the entire time. Chevrolet had it towed to another dealer who said, again, there is nothing wrong. Told them this is a clear safety issue and the dealers are just clearing the codes because they do not want to take on the warranty work. Awaiting resolution from General Motors. They told me for now, I just need to drive it until it happens again.

1.average gas mileage between 10 to 12mpg on freeway which is nowhere near what was shown on the sticker. 2.radio not working/locks up, constant system errors, and display screen going black or green at random. 3.mylink system not working correctly, won't take voice commands & shows error messages on screen. The computer will completely lock up & become unresponsive until restart. 4.navigation system screen turns solid grey & locks up at random. 5.backup camera is coming on & the screen then turns black while at freeway speeds in drive, shows error messages. 6.lane departure system not working/detecting drivers side lines on road when crossed. 7.driver and passenger's front seats feel loose at mounting brackets while driving (rocks back and forth). 8.heated/cooled seats not cooling. 9.transmission not shifting correctly, misses gears on acceleration; constant slips & clunks' from powertrain while at road speed. 10.transmission/torque converter won't disengage from engine properly when braking & pushes the truck under engine power, to a stop at random times. The ECM/tcm is having communication errors or problems causing hazardous conditions to present themselves at random unpredictable intervals to drivers. 11.engine misses/stalls when making sharp turns at random: Fails to accelerate when merging into oncoming freeway traffic or turning out of parking lots. Again, the ECM/tcm is having some sort of software communication error which is causing hazardous conditions to present themselves at random unpredictable intervals to drivers. Freeway merging with oncoming traffic or out of a parking lot into oncoming traffic without the ability to accelerate the vehicle is an extremely hazardous condition not only to the passengers of the unresponsive vehicle but to the passengers/drivers in the oncoming traffic. -truck just bought back by GM at our loss.

I started hearing some ticking. And no big deal the next day the motor just vibrated and them stopped accelerating, started rattling. Freaked me out big time, I've only had the vehicle for about 2 months. I'm no mechanic, but this ain't normal. I fear the worst.

I was on my way home from work and traveling between 70-75. The engine began to feel rough. The check engine light was blinking and the traction control light was on. I exited the freeway and called the dealership. They said that it was safe to drive it to them. The engine idled roughly as if it wasn't getting air or gas and would die. As I drove to the dealership it shifted roughly, would only go 55, was shaking violently, and had significant loss of power. The technician said the code was for a miss fire on plug 6. they checked to see if the plug or wires had become loose. They thought it was a valve spring and later decided it was a bent push rod and have disassembled the head to inspect further. They are contacting the engineering dept. At GM to find out what would cause this issue. This is our second truck this year. Our first was a 2014 Silverado 1500 2X4, purchased in may w/ 4000 miles, rolled down a hill on July 26th and crashed into another car while unoccupied, locked and in park. GM was "unable to find anything wrong", and closed our case. The dealership was very helpful and this is our replacement truck. We took a loss but upgraded to the 4X4 because they had already been covered in the recall of June 27, 2014 "in effected vehicles, an electrical signal short may cause the transfer case to shift to neutral with out the driver's input." We haven't even made our first payment.

Drove home from dealer on highway, very noticeable pulsing vibration felt in gas pedal once I hit 65mph. Vehicle also "shakes" at a constant rate at 50mph, and more violently at 82-85mph. Drove up to 500 miles per dealers direction, problem still exists and has not gone away at all.

  • 8,554 miles
I was driving on the highway at 55mph when I noticed the engine malfunction light came on and shortly after began to flash and the engine was running rough like a fouled out plug, so I was close to my home but before I got there the truck was running even rougher and the transmission shifted very hard also. I called the dealer and they told me not to drive it have it towed via Chevy 2 year road assistance, so I called and after waiting and calling back 5 times I called my own tow service and got it into the dealer. They said a code for engine misfire cylinder # 5 and replaced bad wire with a new one. On my ticket it says bulletin pip5159. The mechanic told me usually these plug wires had been failing on trucks with less miles then mine. So I asked if the other wires could fail and he said yes-so be aware and ready for more to fail.

Upon startup, my truck's check engine light illuminated. The car was restarted and the light did not clear. Car was taken to dealer at 10,383 miles. They checked the codes and received a hard code P0420 bank 1, catalytic converter failure. The catalytic converter was replaced and the codes cleared out. Mainly reporting this because the truck is four and a half months old and has 10,383 miles upon failure. Catalytic converters should last longer.

Picked up new Silverado with 150 or so miles on Wednesday 4/16/14. Drove about 20 miles on Thursday and Friday truck wouldn't start. Everything lights up on the dashboard and electronics work but will not turn over to start. Totally dead. Dealer had me call Chevy roadside and they had it towed to dealer. Dealer replaced some fuse box parts and brought truck back on following Wednesday 4/23. Happened again 2 days later and dealer came back and picked this up. The dealer has had the truck for a full week with no commitment to when it will be ready or guarantee it would not happen again. Currently dealer working with Chevy engineers to troubleshoot problem. This is the first instance this dealer has heard about this happening.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that black smoke was being emitted from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 14V007000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the failure would still occur when the vehicle had been idle for long periods of time. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing but the dealer stated that unless the warning light was illuminated, they were unable to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacture was contacted and stated that since the occurrence was normal for a newer vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1000. The current mileage was 33,000.

I pulled out of a parking lot on to a city street and pressed the gas pedal a little, planning to get up to about 25 mph because there was a red light a block away. The truck responded as if I had floored the pedal. I took my foot off of the pedal and the truck kept accelerating at full throttle. I hit the brakes thinking the cruise control had gone nuts, but hitting the brakes would not turn it off. It kept accelerating with the tach over 5000. I shifted to neutral and the engine speed dropped down to idle. The light turned green and I shifted back to drive and the engine immediately started accelerating again at full throttle. I put it back in neutral, moved over to the shoulder and turned the key off. Then I started the engine again and the problem disappeared. I'm 72; if my wife had been driving by herself, she probably would have had a serious wreck. The truck is a 2014 Silverado, bought 4 weeks ago, 6 cylinder work truck.

I bought a brand new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1 week ago today. The vehicle was delivered 2 days ago. The Chevrolet dealer did not inform me of the recall for possible engine fire. I checked my VIN number online and it shows that my vehicle has been recalled about a month ago and it still has a warning for not being serviced as per Chevrolet and NHTSA websites. Basically, the Chevrolet dealer sold me a new vehicle on recall against the company policy, document dcs3115 (notice to dealers), as posted on this website. The dealer did not inform me if there was any reprogramming done as required by the manufacturer. I called the general sales manager who knows my vehicle today and he did not know about the recall at all and stated he get back to me. According to GM customer care and aftersales on your website, all Chevrolet and GM dealers were sent and urgent stop delivery order on January 10, 2014 addressed to the dealer, general mangers, new vehicle sales managers and service managers to stop delivery of the Chevrolet Silverado and to reprogram them prior to sales. In the mean time I am stuck with this vehicle and do not know whether it was serviced or whether it is at risk of catching fire. This has shown lack of confidence in Chevrolet and its local dealer in communication, trust, and confidence. It has placed me and my family at risk. It has violated their responsibility of disclosure to the customer and has been negligent in its policies and protocol in the handling of recall as mandated by its customer policies GM customer care dsc3115 and us department of transportation NHTSA motor vehicle safety title 49, United States code chapter 301 of May 2013, office of the chief counsel. Please investigate.

I purchased the 2014 Silverado 1500 while it was raining. Test drive was fine, but the sales person already had the vehicle running with the defroster and wipers on. Drove home (2 miles) and parked. Turned on the fan knob ( standard with A/C model) and the A/C turned on, this occurred nearly every time I turned it on and asked the dealer service center about it. I was told I am probably hitting it with my knuckles. I since tried only while pinching the knob to avoid this and the A/C still nearly turns on every time. Also when the truck sits a while the first start is a hard one but after running and warmed up it will be fine to start. Not sure if the truck battery needs a charge after sitting on the lot, I could also smell a rubber burning odor outside and through the vents, thought it was because it was new but then I seen there was a recall 3 days prior. When I tried anchoring my sons child seat I found no seat anchors in the center rear seat and only the ends. I worry about his seat near the door if there is a side crash. Lastly, why isn't there rear sensors at a minimum a mandatory on trucks yet. Cameras can still be offered as a option but sensors should be mandatory!
