The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving making a turn, the vehicle loss power steering functionality. The electronic control steering module message was displayed. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the steering wheel seized while turning left and right. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the contact was informed that the electronic control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

I was driving and my truck just lost all power and my steering wheel locked up as I was turning. Lights turned off. This lasted for about 3 to 5 seconds. Then it turned back on. My vehicle started displaying a stabilitrak warning, gauge lights dimming, hard steering, and the ac turning off when I would push the brake pedal while driving. 15 miles later, while making a left hand turn, my vehicle shut off completely which caused a loss of power steering. I was able to avoid an accident as the vehicle did restart. Prior to this incident, I have taken the vehicle in twice to Chevrolet dealerships to diagnose this issue. Both times they stated they could not duplicate the issue so nothing was done. This seems to be a common issue for many 2014 Chevrolet Silverado owners.

The problem has returned a year and a half later.

Multiple GM vehicles have an error with the traction control system that they cannot diagnose and continuously dismiss to cover their mistakes. Many makes and models report warnings to Service Stabilitrak and Service Breaks along with numerous other warnings. After the warning, drivers are experiencing power failure, locking steering wheels, wrecks, exponential costs for investigations, and temporary fixes. GM will not release any information on investigations into this matter. GM Technicians can not adequately diagnose the issue and will say there is a grounding problem, Traction Control module needs to be reset, replace the battery, and many other bogus repairs to temporarily fix the problem. How many people will have to experience these mechanical errors that can cause serious wrecks or fatalities before NHTSA or GM will investigate? All GM owners should be absolutely disappointed and disgusted with the response from the safety measures put in place to "protect us."

Service Sabilitrack warning will appear and not that the vehicle will have limited steering capabilities. Then while driving 75 miles an hour on the highway merging lanes the steering wheel locked completely and unable to move it at all. Not an issue with power steering but an actual locking of the wheel. Happened multiple other times in parking lots. Was addressed and fixed by Chevrolet dealership, but now issue is back after the truck failed a state inspection and the tech reset the computer.

Towing 16ft stock trailer with 2 calves- Turning Left onto another 2 lane road which was downhill, Engine shut off during turn, power steering went out, had truck brakes pressed to floor, trailer brakes didn't react. Took everything I had to turn the steering wheel to keep from going off embankment on both sides of road. Finally got stopped when road flattened out. Thank goodness no oncoming vehicle!!! Message on dash to roll up drivers side window. Truck restarted! Truck only has 60100 miles. problem first started about 6 weeks ago. slowing down making a turn my truck would shut down without any warning. once turning left in a four lane highway. once turning into Mc Donalds jumping curb and several other times. took into dealership for a recall told them about problem. they put analizer on it showing nothing. it has shut down several times since and a light on my truck finanally came on saying it was the trucks thief deterrent system. i will be taking this into my dealership again this morning but feel you should be aware of this problem as all control of truck was loss when turning into oncoming traffic.

While attempting to restart the vehicle, the message "roll down the window; then roll the wind back up" was displayed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.

Issue first noticed when backing into a parking spot, at low speeds, when I turn the wheel I look power steering abilitiy and have to fight to turn the wheel. At the same time I have issues with the electrical system...radio cuts off/on, stabitrack warning, doors unlock then lock, ac cuts off/on. After this happening very randomly for a few months it has progressively gotten worse. Most recently I was turning left on a busy street and the same above mentioned things happened, stalling me out in the middle of the street. I was luckly not to get hit due to a couple defensive drives able to avoid me. I have already hadthe Safety Recall fixed (#17276), however its the same exact symptoms as the recall.

My transmission failed and I couldn't go over 40mph. The truck would jump and bounce and make loud screeching noises. At first I thought it was all the transmission. I asked a family friend who is a mechanic and he diagnosed it. He concluded that the transmission wasn't the only problem. The motor was having difficulties changing from V8-V4 also. I have been told by many people that I need to get a tuner to delete the computer program that changes the amount of cylinders firing. I have also seen/heard trucks that go without the delete too long. Also, my power steering will fail at low speeds while turning. GM fails to see that my truck has this issue. Saying it doesn't affect my VIN.

Vehicle's electrical system will fail while driving, it may fail during ignition, and it may fail immediately after shutdown. These failures are catastrophic. All systems in the vehicle fail at once. All steering and braking assistance, all lights, HVAC, ignition, fuel delivery, all electrical systems are affected by this dysfunction. This is highly dangerous as it can and does occur while driving at highway as well as residential speeds. Associated failures include various dash modules unresponsive or off intermittently, stabilitrac service message, action needed message: Roll down then up driver window, exterior and interior lighting including headlights flickering and dimming, frozen or glitched or otherwise unresponsive radio, steering wheel forcefully jerking without input from driver or road, 'traction off' indicators. All issues are sporadic, chronic, and debilitating. Vehicle has delivered stabilitrak messages and momentarily tripped all electronics while driving as well. Not every failure is complete, some glitches in the electrical may persistently occur under normal driving conditions, this puts un due strain on the attention, mindfulness, and peace a driver is reasonably expected to achieve in any vehicle. This has also been a precursor to complete failure and great care must be taken to remove the vehicle from roadways and traffic.

Have had the vehicle at piles Chevy and dan cummins Chevy multiple times along with tire discounters everyone says vehicle is in spec and the shaking at 70 to 75 mph is normal however I've owned multiple vehicles non of them has ever had this issue I can't get the dealer to fix it they only say it's a known issue truck only has 57000 miles on it.
