Silverado 1500

  • 180,000 miles
The cabin of the vehicle fills with carbon monoxide. This is known because a 4 gas monitor in the vehicle read carbon monoxide levels in excess of 400 ppm. The source of the leak after being taken to the dealership was found to be a broken bolt in the exhaust manifold. The parts only estimate was $1,700 with approximately 9 labor hours. Online research found numerous complaints. Failure to correct the condition may lead to drivers fainting while driving and cause brain injury to a child or infant. A leak in the exhaust before reaching the catalytic converters also results in possibly excessive untreated emissions. The exhaust leak may or may not pose a fire hazard.

A/C compressor locked up while accelerating when driving on freeway going about 75 mph. I know you may not consider ac a safety factor, but when it's 110 degrees outside and your sitting on leather seats, how could that not be a safety concern?

Jul 162019

Silverado 1500

  • 65,000 miles
The air conditioning condenser suffered a crack and leaked refrigerant requiring the entire condenser to be replaced. This is a widespread issue with this make and model. GM has offered extended warranty coverage on this defective part for other makes and models which use the exact same unit, however, they have refused to offer the same coverage to Silverado owners. A lack of A/C in the gulf coast region results in extremely high indoor temperatures which pose health and safety risks. Alternative solutions require driving with windows down which pose safety hazards due to reduced awareness resulting from substantial wind noise when traveling at highway speeds.

Silverado 1500

A/C failure due to cracks in condenser weldments. Ac starts blowing warm air, compressor cycles continuously, notice the absence of the cooling fan noise. Added one 12oz can R134A, 1 oz pag oil, brought line pressures back> ls-40-45psi/ hs>230-250psi, vent temp on max-38 deg. Lasts about a week.

It seems that my vehicle is leaking somewhere around either the sunroof or the xm antenna. I already had the leak around the third brake light which not only filled the lens up with water and kept blowing bulbs for my third brake light fixed. But from the research I've done it seems that a lot of different year and models of the Silverado have been doing so. But some how when it rains or I wash my truck or go thru a car wash I get water dripping from my headliner onto my heated seats, down behind my dash and water puddling up into my floorboard, on the drivers side. When the third brake light was leaking my whole rear floorboard would be completely soaked. The condensation on my windows would make it hard to drive and be able to see thru the windshield, the water dripping on me while driving was a distraction also and if I turned on my heated seats I sometimes would feel electrical shocks in my butt, and the fact that I have mold growing on top of my headliner and in my carpet makes my truck smell and I'm sure breathing the mold in isn't health for me or my 10 year old son. I took the truck to the local Chevy place and they won't fix it due to it having over 36,000 miles yet I have the extended warranty which doesn't cover this, my insurance company doesn't cover it either.

Apparently the A/C compressor issue is well known via GM yet it is not classified as a recall. We have two children under 5 who have to endure the heat until we find a place that does not try to rob us on something that is happening to every 2015 Silverado 1500. On any other basis this would be a recall, so why is it not? at the least, I figured GM would offer a discounted service for replacements. The parts for the 2015 body were already recycled parts so why such a steep price.

I haven't used the A/C in my truck since last October (2018) approximately. Two weeks ago was the first time I've tried to use my A/C and it is only blowing hot air, as I was driving down the interstate. From what I've researched, this is an known problem with a lot of vehicles from GM from 2014-2017 and nothing is being done about it.this is not okay, whatsoever.

I have a 2015 Chevy 1500. It is my daily driver, (in Alabama) so when my ac stopped working I figured it needed recharged as I do use it quite often. Recharged it and it worked for 2 days. Then out again. So I recharged it and used the dye to see where the leak was located. Can not see where a leak is anywhere. My truck is just out of warranty. There are 1000's of complaints, why is nothing done? I understand that ac is not a necessity to some but with a 7 yo that has asthma, living in Alabama it becomes a necessity. Oh, fyi when your air not working neither does your defog. When driving home at night its so bad you cant see out of the window. I have almost wrecked 4 times bc of it. I did hit a dog bc I couldnt see it..... and to think all the 1000's of people having the exact same problem bc of a flawed design. You may want to take note before paying a lawsuit bc someone lost their life bc of something simple and known.
