Silverado 1500 8-cyl

  • 80,000 miles
My truck shakes from the moment we pull off from a stop and shakes until we get up to 70mph. We had an alignment and that did not fix anything. GM is fully aware of the issue and has done nothing except put out a service bulletin for diagnostics that costs an arm and a leg! we cannot drive this vehicle because we are afraid we will lose control. This happens on paved and dirt roads and inside city limit streets (30 mph) and interstate roads (60mph+). we are also afraid to drive the truck fearing that it would get worse and the driveshaft might drop. $60K truck sitting in our driveway wasting away.

I bought this vehicle with about 20000 miles, right after I hit about 28000 I noticed that my second or third gear on my transmission started jerking. Is always doing it when is cold and always at the first start of the day. I also noticed when downshifting it makes a loud clonking sound. I took it to the dealer and they of course told me it was nothing. I do not tow anything heavy I only use my truck to go to work. Im pretty sure this is not normal. Unfortunately I haven't able to get it fix since repairs for transmissions are expensive and this vehicle is out of warranty.

Silverado 1500 8-cyl

At approximately 32,000 miles, as I was entering the on ramp to the freeway, I lost forward drive. I coasted to a stop on the side of the road and tried several times unsuccessfully to resume forward motion or even reverse. The engine revved up but no movement. After getting the truck towed to my house, and then towed to the dealership the next day, the dealership spent 2 days diagnosing the transmission before determining that the transmission had to be removed for further investigation. After they removed the transmission, they discovered that the gears and clutch packs for gears 2 through 6 had blown apart. This is of course was absurd due to the age of the vehicle, the mileage and the fact that I've never towed anything with the truck or anything outside of normal everyday driving. Fortunately, it was still under warranty so the dealer proceeded to rebuild the transmission. Fast forward to 60,000 miles later and of course the transmission problems have returned. I began feeling an intense vibration through every gear and at all speeds, long, delayed and frequently violent shifts between 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears, and a strange, noisy idle. This went on for a day which, I then parked the truck and scheduled an appointment to return to the dealership to prevent further damage. The day of the appointment, after the vibrations, clunks and delayed shifts, I lost forward drive again, about a half mile from the dealership. I managed to get it back in drive after shutting off the ignition and cycling the shifter from park to drive, but this would only last through 2nd gear before losing drive again. I repeated this about 4 times which was enough to get the truck to the dealership and prevent having to wait an hour to be towed 1/4 mile. Unfortunately the truck is now outside of the 5 year 60,000 mi power train warranty. Expecting to receive a diagnostic report tomorrow.

Our 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 transmission started knocking, pinging, and hesitating. We contacted the dealership and they diagnosed that we needed a new transmission.this vehicle is only 3.5 years old. It should not be responding the way. I noticed online that a class action lawsuit is being filed, however, GM does not recognize the lawsuit yet.

When I started to pull off from a red light driving the vehicle around 30-35 mph the tachometer starts jumping 150 to 200 rpms and a rattle starts coming from under the truck. I believe it is the torque converter starting to come apart. I've talked to several mechanic shops and they stated this was a common issue with these trucks. This truck has roughly 70K miles on it. Just as the warranty went out of course.when this started occurring I was starting to move at a red light when it changed to green on city street.

I bought a brand new 2016 Silverado in 2016 and have put 72000 (highway) miles on it. Took it in to my local Chevy dealership because of a transmission shudder and hesitating while accelerating and whine right before shifting to the next gear. Torque converter is failing sending metal shavings through my transmission and destroying it. A bill of greater than 5500 for this transmission is absurd but not as crazy as a 3 year old transmission failing on you.

Ever since I purchased my truck in early 2017, the 8 speed automatic transmission shift from 1st to 2nd gear at low speeds has been extremely hard. It changes so hard, it feels like someone struck my truck from behind, and shakes the entire vehicle. This hard shift will take place on an upshift and downshift. On the downshift, my truck will lerch forward, concerning me that I may strike another vehicle unintentionally. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership regarding the problem on at least 5 different occasions. The last occasion, the chief mechanic called me and said it is a known problem, and Chevrolet has no intention of fixing it. He explained it involved the torque converter, and Chevrolet has moved on from that transmission. He also stated that my transmission should not be damaged from the shift. One service rep. Stated to me that my warranty is good for 100,000 miles, so don't worry. How can I drive a vehicle, when passengers become frightened from the hard shift. Most recently it has started to shudder through the first few gears and is extremely bothersome to drive. The dealership has made it clear that Chevrolet has no intention on fixing the "known" problem, which is dangerous. I have service records upon request.

I have had this hard jerking and slamming of my transmission in my truck since I purchased it brand new. It occurs when going from reverse to drive it will hesitate and not go into gear and then it slams and jerks the vehicle violently with a aloud crack noise of the gears slamming together. It also occurs when I am in between the speed of 40-50 mph. I will be driving down the road and the truck will slam into gear while driving. It also had a very high idol and shakes the truck. I have brought my truck into the Chevrolet dealership for these issue 5+ times now and contacts the GM to help get my issue solved and they just can't not fix the issue. I don't want to get stranded with my family if the transmission decided to break or cause trouble. I have had multiple occurrences of this issue happening.
