Silverado 1500 8-cyl

I began experiencing the problem I am about to explain shortly after purchasing my truck. I would experience an abrupt shift from first to second gear shortly after starting and on occasion it would abruptly shift down from second to first, feeling as though I had been rear ended. I scheduled my first routine service on December 16, 2017 at 6217 miles. The service writer, at the selling dealership, advised me the complaint I was experiencing was "normal", as the transmission had "to learn my driving habits" and would clear by my next routine service. My next routine service was November 29, 2018, after having only driven 5,000 miles and I again complained about the transmission issue. This service writer advised the transmission was still too new and that it's not completed learning my driving habits until at least 15,000 to 20,000 miles. I have since searched several Chevy truck forums (I.e. carcomplaints.com, gmtruckclub.com, and GM-truck.com) and have found numerous complainants regarding the same issue experienced by owners across the states. Everyone complains of Chevy not able to rectify the problem and citing "normal" operation. On May 28, 2020 I wrote to Chevrolet customer assistance center. On June 26, 2020 I received a response from Chevrolet in a letter stating they had been unable to contact me and if there was no further issues they would close the case. I called the number in the letter and spoke to "[xxx]", refusing any further identification, stating he would try and get me another appointment to have my vehicle inspected. I am awaiting a response. Just yesterday, while approaching the community security gate at my housing complex, the transmission abruptly shifted from first to second, lurching forward, requiring me to abruptly brake to avoid contact. This is an extreme safety issue that Chevrolet is refusing to address. Please help!! information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

When I first purchased this vehicle it has always shifted hard and shuddered. I took it to the shop and they told me it was because my auto 4 wheel drive was on. It continued to have issues for the next couple of years and each time I took it in for an oil change they would tell me there was nothing wrong with it. The check engine light was on. I took it in again and they said it was because the hood latch needed replaced. Replaced that and 2 days later the check engine light was on again. Took it back and they couldn't figure out why it was on. 3 days later, my transmission went out. Here I am, outside of my warranty and no way to pay the 5,000 it takes to repair my transmission. As I am reading online, it seems that the issues I was having, GM was aware of and hasn't made a fix for this yet. GM refuses to fix my transmission when they are aware of issues with this year, make, and model.

When shifting from P to D vehicle refuses to move forward even after lightly pressing the accelerator then letting off the gas pedal there is hesitation while engine revs before the vehicle suddenly & unexpectedly lurches forward. When slowing down or stopping a loud clunk can be heard and felt comparable to being rear ended by another driver. This has been an ongoing issue since vehicle was purchased new. A certified GM dealership has investigated multiple complaints without a resolution to this safety concern.

1st to 2nd gear shifts are hesitant and rough, sometimes dangerous causing truck to jump forward. Usually in parking lots. If stopped on a downhill ; I take foot off brake then the truck will roll like all cars do, and then when I step on the accelerator, the truck engine will rev up as if in neutral then slam into gear causing me to nearly rear end the cars in front on multiple occasions

Transmission is faulty, has been to the dealer where I purchased several times, they flushed the trans 2 or 3 times then finally rebuilt the transmission with around 60,000 miles. Now I'm at 70,000 miles and having transmission problems again. It surges between gears, sometimes feels like I've been rear ended and sometimes seems to skip a gear and be in neutral for a few seconds before clucking into gear.

Transmission shifts hard into gear when slowing down and extremely hard when towing 2,000lb empty trailer, currently at dealership to have new torque converter and pump installed. Dealership stated no metal shavings in transmission they believe. When accelerating engine rpms increase while vehicle speed decreases. Stereo constantly disconnects from wifi when streaming music. Wifi will continue to work for other devices. Voice commands work 80%ish of the time.

The transmission on this truck has not been right from the beginning. When starting in the morning it will do one of three things: Surges and transmission skips, hesitate and then race or jump ahead, or chunk and thunk like it really doesn't want to go to work and shifts hard when it does. I keep asking when GM will take care of this problem and I keep getting the run around. I have brought it in 3X, have had diagnostics run, transmission flushed and of course it has not helped. I am now bringing it back to Chevy dealer and now they say I have to do the next step according to GM which is put in a new torque converter. I bought a beautiful truck that runs like crap and I am very frustrated.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving at very low speeds, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration and lurched forward on several occasions, nearly striking a pedestrian. The vehicle was taken to mountain view Chevrolet (2109 E. main street, mountain view, ar), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.

The steering wheel vibrates at around 65 mph. It feels like you are rolling over rumble strips. The dealership balanced the tires, but the vibration continues. Researching the issue indicates it may be a problem with the torque converter.

Transmission is constantly jerking and hard shifting. It also lags when trying to accelerate. Tried to get it looked at under warranty and was told "welcome to the future" by the dealership. They wouldn't even drive or look at it. Feels like I've been ripped off, why even offer warranties?

I've noticed since the first month of owner ship back in 2018, that something was wrong with my transmission. I own a 2017 Chevy Silverado with the 8 speed transmission. Not only had it been discouraging, it's disturbing, and possibly even unsafe. From 1st to 2nd gear there is a hard shift in the transmission. And the same problem is from 2nd to 1st gear. The vehicle makes a loud clunk and it jerks simultaneously. The fact I spent $50,000 on this truck brand new and have got nowhere with the problem is outrageous. I always believe it is a safety concern, because the vehicle will move it radically. When I brought it to my dealership they said it was 'left in 4 wheel drive' ridiculous lies. And if that was the case why did they 'update the transmission computer.' Regardless, all of these problems from GM have been swept under the rug. The problem has never stopped. I've gotten replies from service representatives at the dealership saying 'they all do that' or 'it's fine' so tired of getting nowhere. GM should be replacing every single 8 speed transmission. I am worried that my transmission will fail at any time. New vehicles should not drive like this.

When coming to stop my truck regularly has very hard downshifting. Along with a very audible 'clunk' from the rear end, I will experience a feeling that I can only deceive as being hit by another vehicle. This results in sometimes having to brake harder as you feel like your going to move forward rapidly. A very similar experience happen when pulling out slowly in low gears. These two combined can be extremely hazardous as well as just very obnoxious/annoying when driving in a yielding situation.

Transmission shudder at speed. Hard shifts at slow speed. Appears to be well documented across this site and other forums. It appears the oil used in the transmissions was defective (per Chevy). Tsb - 16-na-175 and tsb 18-na-355. Hopefully adding to the long list of complaints helps get Chevy to issue a "recall" or something similar to resolve the issue with the flush procedures or similar fixes.
