Air bags did not deploy on a front end crash.

The front right air bag sensor in my 2005 Chevy Silverado failed for no apparent reason causing the air bag system to be de-activated until the sensor was replaced. The vehicle is 4 years old and has 35,000 miles on it and was not involved in any accidents to my knowledge. The issue is that when a sensor fails, the entire air bag system is de-activated until repairs are completed, causing owners to drive the vehicle without the safety feature. General Motors made it very clear that they had no intention of correcting the problem for free. Replacement of the sensor cost $275 for labor and parts. A service request was filed with General Motors asking for them to pay for the repair and the request was denied. I could afford the repair, however many people may not be able to and will end driving their vehicle without an important safety feature.

I was on my way to work and I stopped at a stop sign and happened to look down at my speedometer and it was showing that I was going 10mph while I was sitting still. Then while I was driving the speedometer jumped to 85mph. This was the first time I have noticed this problem.

: the contact stated the vehicle was involved in an accident on dry roads. Two vehicles collided in front of the contact, causing an emergency braking situation. The contact collided with the rear of the second vehicle, and the air bags did not deploy. The contact was injured in the accident. An independent repair shop was consulted and they were unable to duplicate the problem.

In July, my service air bags light came on intermittently in my truck. Everytime I took it to the dealer they couldn't reproduce the light. Not long after that started to happen, the truck started to "chime"(warning signal) and beep, also at intermittent intervals. After 5 trips to the dealer and 19 days later(in the shop) they might have fixed the problem.

I had an accident on Tuesday Sept. 20, 2005 driving my 2005 Chevy pickup K2500 hd 4 wheel drive. I lost control and went off highway striking a city dumpster headon and moving the dumpster approximately 50-60 ft. By police report and than going back on highway and crossing all 4 lanes before the truck stopped. My truck was totaled but my airbag never deployed. I was unconscious and was airlifted to vanderbilt hospital in nashville tn. Why didn't my airbag deploy with a headon crash of this force? this seems to be a defect in the product. I received a 4 inch cut across the bottom of my chin that required several stitches and very sore from my head down my right leg. Still following up with doctors....
