I had my truck fixed at sear automotive in hunt valley Maryland after 3 week after I was promised 1 week.was told it needed a new rear differential and new brake lines. I got my truck back I lost brakes going down the road and my ABS light came on brought my truck back to sears. It was fixed so I was told and I lost brakes aging. And then I brought it back a 3rd time they finally fixed it. But they made me drive my truck with no brakes back to them. Next my rear differential locked up on 695 and I spun out I brought the truck back to them. They claimed it was out of warranty when the warranty expired well the truck was in the shop. So I started to drive the truck home and 4 wheel drive turned on and my front 2 wheels started dragging along with my back which made my truck come to a stop in the middle of york road. Which auto nation told me that my front differential is bad not the rear that's why it happened.

Saw wet spot under driver's side of truck, just behind engine compartment. Knew it wasn't good as the ac is on the other side. Figured I'd check it later. Started truck and as soon as I put my foot on the brake pedal, I could feel something was wrong. Stopped truck, popped hood and checked brake fluid level in master cylinder. Saw it was low. Added a pint of fluid and looked under the truck. Saw it leaking from a rusted out brake line near the ABS module. All lines are rusted and in need of replacement.

I was driving my truck and the brake pedal went to the floor. I was able to stop the truck in my driveway after pumping the brake pedal. There was no trouble light or indication on the dashboard of any brake problem. When I got out of the truck I saw a puddle of fluid under the middle of the truck on the driver's side. Upon further inspection, there is a hole in the rear brake line and all the brake lines are completely rusted and rotting. I was told by the Chevrolet dealer all the brake lines need to be replaced at a cost of $1000. How can the NHTSA allow manufacturers to install brake line materials that can fail without warning in 7 years or less?

Brake pedal became spongy while driving. Upon reapplying the brakes, pedal went straight to the floor and vehicle creeped to a stop. Upon inspection, saw brake fluid on ground and spewing out from brake lines by driver's rear side. Had vehicle towed to dealership, where they said that all of the brake lines were rusted out.

Brake pedal went to the floor with no braking available. This was just after a 300 + mile trip hauling a horse trailer and two horses. Service investigation revealed ruptured hydraulic brake lines. All brake lines are severely corroded and all must be replaced. Worst portion is just under the drivers seat area where three lines run together. Called dealer and GM, it appears to be a common problem since GM now offers a discounted brake line kit. May posts on Chevy forums reveal the exact problem. Something should be done as this appears to be a bad design. Fortunate that this did not happen while on the turnpike.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph, the steering wheel seized for a few seconds. Additionally, the front end of the vehicle vibrated severely. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer three times for the replacement of the intermediate drive shaft on three visits. The brake lines, transmission cooling lines and intermediate steering shaft were covered with rust and were replaced by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 32,800.

When I backed out of my driveway, which is on an incline, the brake pedal went to the floor and I just missed backing out into a busy road. I took the truck in for repairs immediately following the incident. The repairs cost nearly $750. They said that most all of the brake lines were rusted and the one on the rear drivers side had a hole rusted through.

I bought my Chevy 3500 dually 4X4 to drive when I needed it to haul things or for the 4WD. I told my daughter it was going to snow and make the roads dangerous so I would take her to work and pick her up when she was done everything went well no signs of any problems before and after I had taken her to work so when she called I went to pick her up at work and had to wait a little while for her to finish up after I had gotten to her work then I drove her home and just after getting off the interstate we pulled into the driveway and I pulled up to the house and almost went through my garage door when my brake pedal went to the floor at about 10-15 mph with absolutly no warning what so ever I would have never used the truck if I had remotely thought something was wrong with the brakes I drive semi trucks for a living and always check things around my vehicles by second nature since I am responsible for the safe operation of the vehicles I drive. I had my truck towed to the dealer where I purchased it new and told them I had contacted GM about the problem and that I told them I expected it to be repaired free of charge and GM response was that they wanted the dealer to evaluate it and the evaluation would be free of charge they did and they found the brake lines rusted in half and also busted at the rubber hose connections so GM said that they would cover 30% of the repair of the brake lines in which they did but it still cost me $1800. GM insisted that my brake lines rusted in half because my truck sits a lot I told them I have a 1990 Mazda I bought new that sits beside it that I have never had any safety problems out of. GM also has changed the brake lines to a plastic coated line. I had also told them that it was a poor design where the water ran off the windshield and down onto the brake lines right where they rusted and broke GM needs to stand behind its product.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd all of the brake linings had rusted. My brakes failed while I was driving. Fortunately I controlled the vehicle and was able to stop, saw the leak and was towed.a private company replaced all lines. I emailed my concern to Chevrolet, asked to have my comments forwarded to CEO-product improvement. Subsequently had a phone conversation (866-790-5600) [xxx]with [xxx] could not send this information to CEO product improvement. If the brake linings fail you have no brakes. My service request[xxx] I spoke to private mechanics they said this was systemic issue to Chevrolet. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My mechanic told me that my brakes will fail from rusted brake lines at any time. A problem he sees every week.the under side of my truck is completely rust free and the brake lines look like the came from the bottom of the ocean! I am afraid to put my self and my family and other people at risk driving this truck.the repair cost is out of my grasp.I also have a 2002 Subaru with many more miles on it driven on the same roads in the same weather and you could take those lines off and sell them for new!I am 62 and have owned alot of cars and trucks in my life and never have seen any thing with that poor of metal used on something you use every day.I only have to mention to a service center what truck I have and before I tell them why I am calling they ask I still have brakes.

ABS engages at slow speeds - evidently there is a known problem with the ABS sensors engaging at low speeds. This is a potentially dangerous defect. It is scary when you approach a stop and the brakes release. GM has known about this problem and has issued a service bulletin. There was a recall on previous years but stopped in 06 even though they never fixed the problems. They should reinstate the recall and fix the remaining vehicles. We have not been involved in an accident because of the defective sensors but I consider us fortunate.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving in reverse at approximately 5 mph, the brakes failed to respond when depressed. The gear lever was shifted into park however, the vehicle did not respond. The contact was a certified mechanic and stated that the front and rear brake lines would need to be replaced due to corrosion however, the required parts were no longer being produced by the manufacturer. The vehicle ws not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 4 mph, the vehicle made a loud popping sound as the clutch pedal sank into the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the master cylinder housing failed. As a result, the housing and clutch assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 98,000. Updated 04/22/14
