Engine has a loud knocking noise since day one. Reported problem to Chevrolet dealership and was told that the pistons are "slapping" inside the cylinder walls and that this was a known problem from Chevrolet. New pistons will not be available until December 2001. Changed oil and found metal fragments in the oil that were stuck to the magnetic oil bolt. Noise problem is getting louder each week. Dealer rep called and explained the problem to me directly.

After only having this new truck for 2 days the transmission was taken out of it due to a ticking noise in the engine. The mechanic was advised by GM to take out the transmission and replace a flywheel. After 2 weeks of waiting for a part I picked up my truck. The next day the noise was back. I have had 2 GM reps listen to the noise. The secound rep told me that it was "entrained gasses" and that there was nothing they could do about it. I did not purchase this truck making the noise and do not want it anymore after the transmission has been taken out.
