Contact stated that the vehicle was not properly braking during normal braking or panic braking. The service dealer stated that they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. Also the ABS system was not working. The problem was reported to the manufacturer. The complaint reference # 1338399458. This problem have existed since GM changed to 4 wheel disc brakes. The consumer also owned a 1999 Silverado and almost had several accidents due to brake failure. The consumer has friends who have also experienced this problem. The consumer suggested that if additional weight was being hauled, stopping power would not be present.

Brake pedal feels very spongy. When brakes are applied hard the stopping didtance is very poor. In fact on dry pavement, the vehicle ABS system will not engage. When I add my boat trailer (whithin the manufactures hauling spec) the vehicle is scary to drive, it feels like you cannot stop. I have contacted the dealer and they have no way to make the truck stop better. Please help!!

Anti lock brake failure.

2oo3 Chevrolet Silverado, brakes are spongy, will not stop quickly, pedal needs more force than any other vehicles I have driven, dealer says nothing wrong, they appear normal, I disagree, this has been an ongoing complaint on this truck, date is when truck was 2 weeks old as reference. Trucks right rear wheel will also lock up on damp road upon trying to stop. Intermittent problem, dealer could do nothing.

When braking at any speed brake pedal would go to the floor, and there would be extended stopping distance. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. ABS displayed brake system failure. The consumer stated that the brakes failed on inclines. The consumer stated that there was an electrical short. The odometer failed and added extra mileage. The tires started separating after 300 miles. The radio became hot and shorted out. The air conditioner shorted out. The consumer stated that the new vehicle checklist was not filled out nor reviewed with him. The consumer stated that the engine knocks. The consumers fingers were burned by the radio after it got hot. The consumer stated that he heard a growling noise in the power steering. The consumer heard a buzzing noise in the transmission. The consumer had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle coming down a hill. The right headlight went out and turned black. The headlight was replaced with the wrong high beam light. The cd player will not take the cd. The speedometer will only go to 20 mph at times.

ABS light intermittently illuminated while driving or when braking. Also, an ongoing problem with excessive wear of brake rotors and pads. They had to be turned or replaced.

When the brake pedal was pressed, the pedal felt a little spongy. The consumer had to start braking early to avoid an accident. The consumer believed there was air in the hydraulic brake system.

Consumer states that when trying to apply the anti-lock brakes, they locked up, which caused extended stopping distance. Dealer notified. When accelerating between 45-56 mph, the anti-lock brake failure occurred and the antilock brake indicator light came on.
