This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a no start, Malfunction Indicator Lamp, or engine noise with low or no compression with any obvious cause. Technician will need to record actual compression readings. If low or no compression is validated, then remove the camshaft cover and inspect for a broken or dislodged camshaft actuator spring. If the technician has found an issue, then contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center for further assistance.
