Our 2002 Chevrolet K2500 Suburban's anti-lock brakes slip (trigger) at low speed, which was not needed, nearly causing a couple of accidents. No brake light comes on during this to show failure. Repair is difficult, costly, and generally ineffective. Very dangerous. Not only will the E-brake typically not hold the vehicle from a stand-still. It was never designed to slow the vehicle while it is moving if the hydraulic system fails. Most drivers expect an E-brake to do both. Chevrolet should devise a fix and issue a recall.

My 2002 Chevy Suburban was serviced under NHTSA id 05V3379000 on 11/24/06. The problem is the vehicle will not stop between 5-10mph due to corrosion near ABS sensor - under recall clean area and lube. Since this is a corrosion issue it will recur many time in future. Approx 4 years after recall service - I am having the exact symptoms described in recall. I think this recall should be recurring since corrosion is constantly occurring.

My 2002 Chevrolet Suburban Z71 (1500) is experiencing anti-lock brake problems. Whenever the car is about to stop, the antilock brakes activate and prevent stopping in a normal distance for slow speeds. This has nearly caused several low speed accidents. I see there was a recall campaign, #05V379000 and I called GM to check if my vehicle was included but they said no, even though my vehicle is in the indicated year range and is exhibiting the exact symptoms described in the recall. This vehicle should be included in the recall too.

My wife owns two GM Suburban, 2002 and 2004. Both experienced brake failure due to rotting brake lines within a week of each other. I have paid over $2,000 to have them both repaired. The 2002 failure sent me out into the street in front of my home unable to stop. The second failure of the 2004 occurred while on a cross country trip with most of my family in the car. This is the one that spurs my efforts to complain. I could lose it when considering what could have happened to my family due to these failures on two very expensive cars which I would never have expected to fail like this. I would like very much not to have this happen to anyone else and if I can get a refund for the costly repair that would be great. I have preserved the rotted brake lines. I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban - I had the ABS system replaced in 2005 to have it break down again in 2008. The dealer's service department says that there is no recall on it because they haven't heard sufficient consumer complaints to warrant a recall! further, I called Chevrolet's/GMC's service department and they said that they don't read internet complaint boards. All complaints have to be directed straight to Chevy's customer service department in order to be input into a "complaint database", then they determine if they have received enough complaints to merit a recall - per industry standards.

On November 16th 2009 with no warning my 2002 Chevrolet Suburban experienced a sudden and total brake failure. The vehicle was traveling slowly and the driver was able to pull off the road, call for a tow truck and have the vehicle towed to a local repair shop. Direct tire of watertown (phone:617-923-1800) advised that the under body brake line was severely corroded in several places, had ruptured in one spot and was leaking in one other place. The vehicle was repaired by them. The receipt for the work done by is available.

The anti lock braking system activates when coming to a stop on dry pavement. Typically 10 miles per hour and less. This happens almost 40% of the time when stopping. We almost ran in to the back of a parked vehicle. A recall was performed in January of 2007 but I am wondering if this was actually fixed or just replaced with the same parts that went bad.

2002 Chevy Suburban: Grinding noise heard on undercarriage and ABS light came on. Determined the ABS pump was making the grinding sound and further determined an unavailable part costs about $1200 plus labor. There is a waiting list for this part a mile long. Apparently this is a common problem worthy of recall investigation. Dealers temporary solution is to unplug the ABS fuse and drive it until the part comes available. We were told to be careful in the rain as it is unsafe without ABS brakes. Part might be available in 2 to 4 months.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to inspect the failure and was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 05V379000, action number PE05020 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The contact stated that even though the repair may have been performed, the failure still persists. The dealer is charging $500 to redo the repair. The failure mileage was 62,058.
