Multiple cracks across the dashboard have formed, in some cases completely bisecting the dashboard pieces. I'm concerned that if the airbags are deployed or in the event of a crash these sharp pieces of plastic will become projectiles. I was just quoted a price of $1400 by my dealer to replace the dash, but it seems this is a common problem.

In addition, the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags) and the parts had not yet been supplied from the manufacturer to the dealer so the contact was unable to determine when the air bag recall may be performed. The dash in my car cracked for no reason. What concerns me is that the crack is next to the airbag on the passenger side. If this airbag were to deploy it could cause the broken pieces of dash to turn into projectiles causing a dangerous if not deadly injury. This vehicle has never been on anything but smooth paved roads. The vehicle only has 61,200 miles on it. We were on an interstate when this occurred.

GM has no information when parts will be available for the repair and I was told they are waiting for the NHTSA to approve the replacement procedure and parts. When will the parts be available? Takata recall. This vehicle has recall airbags. GM foot dragging claiming "no parts" but other manf appear to have. Endemic problem with cracked dash on GM vehicles makes danger airbags even more threat for front seat pax. This vehicle dash replaced once already. GM refuses to pay but this is a safety hazard.

The dash board around the airbag is cracked. I have found on the internet this has been a known problem with these cars in this year. I am in fear that if the airbag deploys the dashboard could fly off and injure a member of my family. I don't understand why nothing has been done concerning these dashboards with all of the complaints...... I guess it takes someone to be killed for someone to take action!!!!!!
