Trailblazer

  • 41,000 miles
As with the thousands of other Trailblazer, Envoy and 9-7X owners my fuel level sensor quit working. It shows empty all the time and the check engine light remains on. I am a disabled american with very little income from disability and can not afford the $600+ a garage charges to repair the problem. This is a very common problem with 2005-2008 GM SUV's and certainly should have been a recall by now as this problems has affected tens of thousands of Trailblazer owners. This is a safety problem as the gauge will fail with no warning and can create serious hazards when a vehicle will run out of gas.

Trailblazer

  • 40,000 miles
In August, 2009, I filled my gas tank in my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer and when I got into the car, the gas gauge read empty. When I restarted the car, the fuel gauge read empty and the check engine light would turn on. I found several complaints online about the same issue, and began using the tripometer to measure the mileage, refueling at approximately 250-300 miles. Unfortunately, in August, 2010, while driving on a major freeway, the car ran out of gas and I barely avoided being hit from behind. I was able to coast to the side of the road, and was helped by a friend who happened to spot me in trouble. Friday, February 11, 2011: It appears that now my fuel pump has gone bad and I am unable to move fuel to the engine. The car turns over but there isn't fuel moving through the lines to keep the engine running. There are multiple complaints about the fuel sensor online about the GM models from 2004-2007. (513 as of today) GM needs to provide a recall on all vehicles with this issue, instead of charging it's customers $800+ to drop the gas tank and replace parts that they are well aware are defective.

I own a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer and the gas gauge has stopped working. I was told the sensor is bad. It should be a valid recall. If you google it you can see how many people are having the same problem. I am going to watch the mileage for now and do fill ups as needed by mileage. I am not in a position to put out that kind of money for a well recognized problem. I have always bought Ford, thought I'd try Chevy, bad choice. I already also had to replace parts in the heater that want out in the middle of winter.

The fuel light stays on empty even when the car is full. You can never know how much gas is in the car. The check engine light comes on. It goes off when the car is full for about one day, then comes back on again until you fill the car up again. There is a problem with the sensor and it costs approximately $800 to have it repaired. This is a problem in Chevy Trailblazers as everyone that I have spoken with that has a Trailblazer has this problem. I even know a couple that has a 1999 Trailblazer with the same problem. The dealer refuses to fix the problem because there has not been a recall.

Trailblazer

Fuel gauge has been inaccurate since we bought it used in 2007. It would go from 1/4 tank to out of gas in less than 15 miles. Ran out of gas 3 times, twice when the low fuel light was not even on. Once stranded in the middle of traffic while making a left turn on a snow covered road, very dangerous. This incident report is for recent problem: After filling the tank completely with gas, the fuel light came on. Even after turning it on and off, light stayed on. Then the gauge fluctuated from empty to full back to empty while driving. Fuel gauge is now works sporadically but never sure if it is correct. I need to track mileage between fill-ups to ensure there is gas in the tank. Since we have multiple drivers in the family, this is a nerve-racking system.

Trailblazer

  • 60,000 miles
In September 2010 I started having problems with my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer with the windshield wipers going all of the time. The only way I can get them to shut off or turn them back on is to take the fuse out. This is so inconvient because the fuse box is located in the backseat on the passengers side. I have to lift the seat up and remove two boxes and put in the fuse and to remove it I have to use pliers to get it out.... also my low fuel light stays on even when I have a full tank of gas so I am constantly at the gas station getting gas so that I am aways sure to have gas in my vehicle. The dealership wants to put the vehicle on diagnostic for $99 which does not go towards the cost of repairs which I can not afford because I am unemployed.. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership I purchased it from and they indicate that it is no longer under warranty and there is nothing they can do but repair it and maybe give me 10% off of my repairs since I purchased it from them...... I see where U have many complaints on this same year and make and model.. do U have any suggestions on what can be done on this?

Trailblazer

At around 80,000 miles my 2006 cheverolet Trailblazer started showing empty when I filled up with gas. Now at about 85,000 miles it continually shows empty. Have researched and found out that I will have to replace the whole fuel pump/intake and outtake which could cost around $800 at the dealership. Have also found out that this is a common problem with the later model Trailblazers. Needs a recall!!
