Trailblazer 4WD 6-cyl

  • 50,000 miles
I purchased a 2006 Trailblazer in 2008 a few months after the fuel gauge started failing and was marking empty, so after doing some research I came across thousands of people with this same problem. 2006 Trailblazers have an inherent problem w/ the in-tank level sensor, etc... GM should have recalled this vehicle by now - it is frustrating for both owners and mechanics... it is obvious that a large portion of Trailblazer owner are having issues related to fuel sensors and delivery - im a single mother of four children and im unable to afford this repair im already paying over 18,000 for this vehicle. Please GM - rectify this issue - any problem gasoline related should be a top priority !!!!

The gas gauge goes to empty when it is full than eventually it will return to full after driving it sometime from what I have been reading this happened to alot of Chevy Trailblazers and I don't think we should be responsible for it. They are saying the repair can run anywhere from 400 to 900 dollars..which this is not fair.

I'm filing this complaint regarding GM's faulty fuel sensors. The gas gauge on my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer stopped registering. When the dealer advised it would cost $500 to fix it I researched online and found 100's upon 100's of similar complaints. I believe a recall is necessary. It's unfair and unjust to expect the consumer to pick up the bill for GM's faulty engineering/part.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer ls. September 2009 is when it happened. The fuel sensor went out on my vehicle and now I have to get it repaired possibly to pass my fuel emissions inspection. I didn't have it repaired because that it was going to cost me like $400 to get it fixed. I don't have that kind of money to get it fixed but now I have to for it to pass inspection.

Trailblazer 4WD 6-cyl

About last January my gas gauge started acting up. I would fill my tank with gas and the gas gauge would read empty and the low fuel light would come on and the engine light came on. The gauge would bounce around and cause my low fuel light to go on and turn off. The audible advisor would ding at me 5 times everytime it hit empty. Now, today, my check engine light is on constantly and the gas gauge is stuck at empty and the low fuel light is on constantly. This started to occur at around 68,000miles and now I am at about 72,000. I have checked with a couple repair shops and they state that the fuel sensor is defective and it will cost me approximately $800 to repair. To date I have not had the problem repaired. I use my trip odometer and fill up around every 250 miles.

I herewith request that NHTSA opens an investigation into the performance/reliability of the fuel level sensor installed in model year 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. In case the fuel tank level sensor is or becomes defective it could result in a subject vehicle running out of fuel, stall, and being rear ended by another vehicle. The currently owned Chevrolet Trailblazer 2006 has already the third fuel sensor. The first replacement took place when the vehicle was 6 months old, the second replacement took place in spring 2010. GM customer service and the Chevrolet repair shop denied a malfunction of the involved fuel sensor. I am still in possession of the third (old) sensor. Complaints to adelco, the supplier of the fuel sensor did not lead to an result either. Never received a satisfying answer from GM nor from adelco. In the internet I found multiple complaints from other Trailblazer owners regarding the fuel sensor. Since my vehicle has the fourth fuel sensor I do have problems again (fuel cap not properly closed warning light comes on sometimes, engine/emission failure light comes on sometimes). GM customer service in detroit told me to go tomy local Chevy dealer and ask them to review the problem and estimate the cost. I was told they would afterwards make a decision to reimburse me for the cost. After the repair service GM and the dealer declined the reimbursement request and claimed the part failed because of the high mileage. The replaced sensor was for only 40000 miles in the vehicle. The second fuel sensor was installed before I purchased the car from a GM dealer (was never told about that problem).

I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer. It only has 34,000 miles on it. Tonight after I filled the gas tank, the warning light came on saying there was no fuel. After searching the internet, I have found that alot of people are having the same problem and it costs about $800 to get it fixed. I cannot afford $800 to fix something that shouldn't be a problem in the first place. I love my Trailblazer, but right now, I'm afraid to drive it. Please make Chevy fix this problem.

Gas gauge reading not correct. It will read the correct level then drop to empty. Gas gauge does not work any more reads empty all the time it is a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer and doing research on the internet there are numerous Chevy's with the same problem. It is a safety hazard because a person could run out of gas in the middle of a intersection or when turning on a road or merging with traffic.

Fuel gauge in my 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer died after 40,000 miles. I hear this is a very common problem. My gauge sits on E and the empty light stays on. I haven't repaired it yet. Chevy should issue a recall since it's so common!

I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, with about 57,000 miles. The gas sensor is malfunctioning, as after I fill up with gas, the gauge with go from empty, to full, to empty, etc. After some research, I find out I am one of many with this same problem, and feel this should be part of a recall to fix this problem. Cost to fix this problem is estimated at $800 or more.

Trailblazer

  • 35,000 miles
I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer and today after filling up the gas tank the fuel gauge malfunctioned and the engine light came on. The vehicle only has 35000 miles and has been well maintained since I bought it new. After doing a search online it seems that this happens to everyone that owns one of these vehicles and the repair ranges from $800 to $1100. If this is such a well known flaw, shouldn't there be a recall to have this corrected? I don't think that every consumer should be on the hook to correct an obvious design flaw. This is a potentially dangerous situation since there is no way to tell how much fuel is in the vehicle.

2006 Chevrolet Trailblazers gas gauge fail. Gas gauge stops working and stays on empty. You have to keep up with the miles or spend major money just to have it worked on. I have researched it and looks like it is a major problem. Chevrolet seems to not care about the problem.

Trailblazer

  • 46,000 miles
My 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer has a defective fuel sensor. The fuel gauge constantly stays yellow - indicating empty - regardless of actual fuel level, causing me to use only my tripometer to gauge the amount of mileage I have left on a tank of fuel. It also causes the engine light to come on whenever I fill up. As my vehicle is out of warranty, the repair would cost approximately $1000 to fix an issue that I'm finding out is a prevalent issue with the several GM products - with no recourse through Chevrolet.

I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, and the fuel gauge no longer works. When I fill up the gas tank, the gauge stays on empty and the low fuel light stays on. The check engine light will come on right after I fill up and it will go off at about 50 miles. It comes on again around 270 miles. I have ran out of gas twice, because the mileage wasn't reset after getting a few gallons of gas (someone else had put fuel in my Trailblazer). I have not had it fixed, since it will cost over $800. So far there has not been any wrecks or injuries because of this safety issue. I hope something can be done before there is an accident.
