The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. When the contact started the vehicle, she noticed the fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading. The failure progressed and currently the fuel gauge was inoperable. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated sporadically. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the fuel tank sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not aware of the defect. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000. After refueling the vehicle to its capacity, the fuel gauge read empty. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified. The current mileage was 45,000. Gas gauge has been very inaccurate. Gauge will read full after fill up for approx. 20 minutes of driving, after that it will read empty with the low fuel light on. For my safety I am filling up every few days because I have no idea how much fuel is in there. I have been using my trip odometer to use a some base line. My fear is I will be pulling into traffic and it will run out of gas. I believe there should be a recall on this as it is a major safety issue.

Have had multiple sensing failures with fuel gauge on this vehicle causing one time to run out of gas on major expressway. I keep record of gas purchases and try to be aware how full the tank is. This is an intermittent problem now but cannot be relayed on.

My car quit reading out how much fuel I had. I had to write down on a piece of paper the miles on the car when I filled it up in order to keep track of when to put gas in again. With my husband being disabled this was not good. I took it to my dealership and they wanted closed to $100 just to tell what exactly was the problem then if it was what they thought it was it would be approximately another $600 to fix it. I took it to a reputable repair place it cost $0 to tell me the problem and it cost me $418.80 to fix it. The problem was the fuel sensor was not registering the amount of gas I had. They had to take the gas tank apart and replace that plus the fuel pump (as now these 2 items are built into 1).

On October 15, 2010 the fuel gauge on my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer abruptly went to empty after filling the tank for a 6 hour long trip. Shortly thereafter the gauge read empty, the check engine light came on. I immediately called the dealer and took the vehicle for repair. Fortunately I had the extended warranty and it was covered. The truck had approximately 31,350 miles when this occurred. Ever since the repair, the fuel gauge is not giving an accurate reading. I have noticed on several occasions when the gauge could be as much as a 1/4 tank different. For example, the gauge would read 3/4 full when I park at my office. When I leave for lunch the gauge will display 1/2 full.

Ran out of gas because the gas gauge had quit working approximately 2 months before this incident. The automobile becomes very difficult to steer because the power steering pump quits working. You must apply a tremendous amount of force to turn the steering wheel just to get the vehicle off the road and you can't turn it quickly. It is a very dangerous situation. It happened again approximately 11/10/2010

The fuel gauge on my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer is malfunctioning. Although there is plenty of fuel in the tank the fuel gauge randomly falls to empty and shows a low fuel message. It is difficult to know when the vehicle will be out of fuel without trying to estimate based on mileage.

I have a 2007 trail Blazer and at 46,000 miles the fuel gauge quite working correctly. Could never tell how much gas I really had in tank. Now at 50,000 miles it stays on empty all the time when it has just been filled up.

I purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer new in November of 2006. I currently have 41000 miles on it and have an issue with the fuel gauge. I filled the tank and the gauge now reads empty with the yellow fuel light illuminated. The check engine light is also illuminated. Due to its inaccurate readings, I ran out of gas on a major highway and had to push it onto a shoulder putting myself in an extremely dangerous position along with my wife and 2 children. I called the dealer and was advised that it is not covered under warranty and that there are no recalls on the vehicle and would cost approximately $1000 to fix. In researching this on the internet, I found that hundreds of customers have exactly the same problems with their 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazers putting their lives and their families lives in danger as well. This is an issue that Chevrolet needs to address and that this problem needs to be recalled before someone or someone in their family is killed.

Gas gauge on 2007 Trailblazer is only accurate when tank is completely full. After a few miles it registers empty so you never know how much gas you have.

My fuel gauge began to move sporadically. When my fuel tank was full it would register as empty or if I was low on gas it would register as full, or half a tank. Eventually it stopped working entirely. I had one incident, because of the gauge working incorrectly in which I did run out of gas on the highway and was forced to exit. Fortunately I had enough momentum to make it up the off ramp safely without incident, and it was early morning so traffic was light enough to allow and easy exit. However, I had to call my wife to bring me gasoline to refuel and make it to the nearest gas station. I have been using my trip odometer to track my mileage and refuel accordingly. I did contact the dealership regarding this issue; they informed me there was no recall. They did not inform me about this site or how to file a complaint. I was told that with parts (fuel sensor) and labor it would be a $400 repair and that the issue was common. I had no guarantee the new part would work any better, and after searching online, found that this part fails commonly after 50K miles. I do not want to spend $400 every 50,000 miles, for a part that should last the entire life of the vehicle.

The gas gauge on my Trailblazer quit working in June of 2010. I was told at a dealership that I would have to have a diagnostic test that would cost me $90 before they could find out what was wrong with it and then of course it will be more money spent. I can't afford to have it fixed at this time. I keep track of my mileage by using one of the trip meters which tells we how many miles I have driven and figure out how far I can go before I need a fill up. I'd much rather have it fixed under a recall!

My 2007 trail Blazer has a bad fuel gauge which has caused me to run out of gas 3 times over two years. In all of those occasions my gauge reading said I had more fuel in it. Now it will completely stop working after half a tank is used. The last incident was 2/11/2011. One of those incidents was reported to police.
