I have been to two dealerships and there is no remedy for this recall. I asked to have the airbag on the driver side deactivated but was told that this was not possible " legally" because it would put the dealership at risk for liability. Well, GM is at risk for liability if I'm in a crash where this airbag might deploy. Can I have this airbag deactivated while I wait for a remedy" What are my options"

I took it in to have the recall fixed, they told me they couldn't fix it, that I should not drive it, do not let a passenger ride in the front, they are having an issue they haven't encounterd with the other traversese he contacted somone to find out what to do and as soon as they get a letter he will let me know. I asked if it was safe to drive the look on his face was absolutely not, to just park it, and borrow or rent one, I do not have the money to do this, he said that I should be very very careful not to do anything to set off the airbag and only drive it if there is no other option, I made it clear there was not. I have had 5 close calls that could have set it off a few, inches were how close it was the last one someone almost hit me. I have a daughter I have to take to and from school the busses don't come out where we live. I just want it fixed,

To Whom It May Concern: I received a letter from [XXX] the Vice President of Global Product Safety and Systems of Chevrolet General Motors in June 2023 concerning a safety recall: N232404980 From the letter I received: "General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014 model year Chevrolet Traverse vehicles. As a result, GM is conducting a safety recall." However, parts to repair my vehicle are not currently available. It is now October 2, 2023. When I called the Customer Service number provided I was directed to Platinum Chevrolet in Santa Rosa to make an appointment to remedy this situation. I was told they still do not have the parts available for the front-driver airbag inflator. I am very concerned about this because I use this vehicle to transport myself and family to and from work and school. In the safety recall letter I received it also states: "In these vehicles, the front-driver airbag inflator may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may results in inflator rupture deployment. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants." Please let me know how I can get this situation resolved. I need to use this vehicle to provide for my family but I do not want to die from driving a car that I am paying for. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I received a recall notice back in June about a problem with my car's airbag inflator. To this date I still haven't heard from GM or anyone else about getting this potential deadly problem fixed. They indicated that the part to fix the issue isn't available. How can that be"! They issue a recall but don't have the part even months later?! I'm worried about this issue as, according to their own letter, that if the airbag deploys I can possibly be injured or killed! Why don't they have the part?! When am I going to be able to get this issue rectified" I do a lot of driving & on major highways & places where there are many careless dangerous drivers & chances of animals crossing the roadways. GM is putting my life at risk more by not having their safety features be safe! They may be the ones to cause a death. That is simply by not having their safety devices in proper working order & not having the part to correct the device so that this issue can be promptly taken care of! Please let me know asap what can be done so I can get this issue fixed & be safe driving my car without at least this defect to worry about.
