Over the past 4 months, our parents vehicle has been in to the dealership for servicing 6 times due to the vehicle being completely dead. The car never sat longer than 2 - 3 days without being driven. They were told the problem was due to the license plate light, then the glove box light not turning off, then they weren't sure. On 2/26, the vehicle would only start and run, while connected to the jumper. The dealership took the car in and had it for 2 full weeks. The dealership could not diagnose the problem. Mom & dad picked up the vehicle on March 14th, no explanation as to the cause of the problem. Went back to the dealership on March 19th to find out if any further information had been determined... nothing! they were then advised the car has to be driven all the time, to avoid dying because the computer system never shuts off and therefore, drains the battery when the car is idle. They were further advised to purchase and use a battery tender trickle charger and to keep it connected to the vehicle whenever the vehicle is not in operation. This is very inconvenient as our parents are in their 80's and don't get around so easy anymore. This is not an acceptable solution. They've had this vehicle for almost 4 years, if the computer issue as described by the dealer were accurate, why did it work properly for the first 3.5 years and now has issues? the vehicle is still under warranty however, without accurate diagnosis, nothing is being done. The last communication we've had with the dealer was Friday March 27th. Telling us if the car doesn't die again by this coming Friday (April 3, 2015), they'll be closing the case. The problem has not yet been diagnosed or resolved. Is there anything we can do, any information you can provide, to help our parents get this issue resolved?

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, over a bump, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. In addition, when the brake pedal was depressed it would vibrate. The contact mentioned that the harder the brake pedal was depressed, the harder the vibration. The contact also stated that the vehicle shifts out of gear and accelerates independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tires needed to be rotated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

After a shifting update performed at Chrysler dealer in Jan 2014. The car S transmission runs odd. The RPM sticks at 3 while driving 35 mph. The RPM gauge June while driving even w cruise set. Slow and hesitant while up hill or speeding up. Took to dealer 3xs w same issue no results. No warning lights or codes. One day the warning light dinged a few times while driving car but still no lights/codes. Dewey said drive it til it stalls (it has) or til dash light comes on.

The problem: Popping #33 fuse (switch bank/diagnostic link connector/PCM), have been replacing fuses each and every time so I can go on with my business. I find that it happens between shifting gears. It does not matter if you are in drive/automatic mode or auto-stick mode. Did not turn my car in right away (now I wish I would have) because I would have felt silly if I had my car towed and the tech. Found that a $.25 fuse was blown. This is a very serious issue with a risk factor through the roof because the drive train completely shuts down. No power steering, no power brakes. At highway speeds you pucker up and hope you can make it to the side without getting into an accident before your car comes to a complete stop. First time it happened, it just rained heavily and I thought something got wet - entering the freeway up shift from 2nd-3rd 34084 miles second time, turning into my driveway downshift from 2nd to 1st - coincidence? 35028 miles third time, abrupt stop downshift from 6th to 1st 36013 fourth time - pulling into work downshift from 3rd to 2nd 37112 fifth time - slowing down on expressway downshift 5th to 4th 38223 sixth time - slowing to a stop downshift 2nd to 3rd 38,764 seventh time - during rush hour stop and go traffic (the last straw) up-shift 2nd to 3rd 39,134 eighth time - within 15 minutes of seventh time stopping at a stop light. Downshift 2nd to 1st 39,146 ninth time - next morning on my way to the dealership - up-shift from 4th to 5th 39,164 went to dealership and made an appointment. Luckily I am conscious of my surroundings and was able to get out of harms way every time. I will not let my wife drive this car, for her safety, until it is fixed. Is there a documented fix for this?

1. this started weeks after I bought my new car. It has happened many times, at various times. When I take my foot off the gas the transmission clunks into a downshift. I brought this up to my dealership's attention twice. By the second time they said, "it's learning the way you drive". huh?? then they did some kind of adjustment to a computer component, I don't think it made a difference. There is something wrong with the transmission and they don't seem to want to investigate it. A few times it took a second too long to downshift. 2. I also find the car is too heavy for a 4cyl. It is just the way it feels. 3. the footbed area is too small. I don't have big feet yet I sometimes step on the heel of the other foot. Weird.

The Chrysler 200 engine will stall when coming to a stop or already stopped. The engine fades slowly away and then completely turns itself off. This entire engine failing process lasts for approximately 7 seconds. This engine failure pose a significant safety risk and something needs to be done Chrysler dealership are aware of this issue, but unfortunately don't have an answer for a resolution of it. This issue needs to be looked at much closer and in-depth, since further delays could cause accidents and death. I plead that Chrysler takes responsibility for this problem and commence a recall program of the Chrysler 200 model. I've personally experienced the engine failing 4 times already. I brought it into the Chrysler dealership and have them take a look at it. I had to let the car sit at their shop for 2 days and they did not offer/give a free rental car for me. This car is under 1 year old. Prior to Chrysler I only owned foreign cars because of the perceived notion that american made cars are not reliable. I decided to give it a chance and wanted to buy american, so I got the Chrysler 200. So far that decision has turned out to be a big mistake (unless Chrysler offers a resolution to this problem). I don't want to lose faith in the american car company and hope that they do the right thing.

I drove my car for approximately 25 minutes, I stopped at stop light and when pressed the accelerator the car would not go. I put the car in park, then back in drive and the still will not go, then I put the car back in park, turn the car off and then put the gear in drive and then the car would go. This has happened 3 times...I took it to the dealership and they told me they could not find the problem.

When shifting into reverse or drive it has a hard jolt when going into gear. Sometimes it is so hard that it jerks your body and head/neck, and it sounds like the transmission is going to unbolt from under the car. It does it a couple times a day, and then may stop for a few days but always comes back. I have noticed on the days it is not doing it I average more mpg, and when it is doing it the mpg continuously decreases when it is occuring multiple days in a row. On the days that it is doing it my transmission sounds more whiny than than usual. I have also had issues when putting it into gear, and pushing the gas pedal it tries to stall. It is a problem, and not "just the way those motors are". if it was "just the way the motor" is then it would do it every time you put it in gear, and not come and go and be much worse on some days than others. As time passes the jolting is getting worse and harder. Also, my brakes make an awful squeeking/grinding noise when stopping slowly (stop sign) or backing up. When the car was checked I was told they could not find anything wrong with the car or brakes. This is very agrivating because it was bought brand new, and I am having these issues. I am making payments on a vehicle that is having these types of issues, and I do not feel safe in it. The way the transmissions acts I am afraid of what it may do while driving down the road.

I will be driving and while shifting gears, my car will stop and suddenly jolt really bad. It was so bad the other day the car behind us laid on their horn because they were about to hit us. I am sure that this car thought I slammed on my breaks, but that is not the case. This car always stops then surges or jolts. It is a major safety hazard and I am very concerned. Chrysler will not fix the problem because they say they have not duplicated it which I do not believe. They also said they have never heard of this issue although I have read about multiple cases just like mine on the internet. This happens to me very often!

Our 2011 Chrysler 200 has about 8000 miles and has been stalling, surging idle speeds when stopped, and downshifting hard (jolting) for the last 2000 miles or so. Tomorrow is the first time taking it in specifically for this reason after having the dealer annotate these symptoms during the last oil change. It is not save to have a car's idle jump while at a stop light or intersection nor is it safe to have a car stall out when slowing down. Furthermore, it's a brand new car so this is completely unacceptable to pay for a defective product. If it does not get fixed I will be contacting my insurance company to let them know what is going on as I am fearful that one of these lunges will result in a crash.

Jolting while shifting gears, engine light on, for no reason. Taken to dealer. First time, was told this is normal. Vehicle getting used to my driving patterns. 2nd time, engine light came on, stayed on over 24 hours on a non dealer business day (easter) 4/8/2012. Jolted, stalled, jerking during the day on 4/8/2012 morning of 4/9/2012, light was still on, called the dealer. Asked to bring it in, they will try to duplicate the issue. This is a really scary and unsafe feeling, brand new cars should not do this. Engine has idled very poorly, it came close but the engine didn't die. Something is wrong with this car. Has happened multiple times.

I purchased a Chrysler 200 limited in March 2011. On several occasions, the transmission has jerked really violently in between gears (first to second and second to third), made a loud popping noise while driving slow. The first time this has happened, I thought that something hit the car. I have since taken my 200 to the warranty service center here and they said they could not find anything wrong. The symptoms only occur after the 200 has been driven for more than 10 miles and stopped for a few hours then driven again. I have the 2.4L engine.
