  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles

I bought my Chrysler 200 in September 2015 and drove to New York in January and my check engine light appeared. I called my dealer he told me to set up an appointment with local Dodge dealership. I set up the appointment and was told I needed a new transmission due to external problems. With no other explanation. Oh and this was a day after the dealership where I bought the car had to do a transmission recall (update). So I called Chrysler and was told I would have to rent a car with my own money since they do not supply loaner vehicles. Not to mention they were the rudest people I have ever talked to. My car had a maximum of 4,000 miles on it.

200 Limited 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,963 miles

I purchased this car brand new on 2/11/2015 and I thought it was a very nice car. I drove it for a week and started noticing that my gas mileage was getting worse each time I filled it up. It started with getting 28 mpg and then quickly went down to 16 mpg. I went to the dealer and asked them about that on 2/20/2015 and all they said you must have got some bad gas from one of the stations. So after that I switched to E85 and there was no difference, just that I was spending less money to fill up.

Another problem I had was when I parked on a slight incline where the front of the car was higher than the back, it would struggle to move forward. I noticed that sometimes it would shift oddly from a dead stop. On the 1st of this month I was driving around and the check engine light popped on and I thought what could possibly be wrong. So the next day I took it back to the Dodge dealer and they scheduled me an appointment for the next day. I took it in and they said that some of the clips on the cluck packs had broken off. They said since it's such a new car they would just replace the transmission and would not be able to rebuild it. They gave me a rental car and said you should get your car back in no more than a week. At least they game me a loner car till then.

When I get my car back I'm going to trade it in. I'm not buying a new Chrysler for a long time.

200 Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,900 miles

Purchased my brand new 2015 Chrysler 200 on 12/16/2014 arrived the next day to pick up the car and found a huge scratch running down the back of the bumper. I was instructed to bring the car to the body shop the following friday. They kept my car for a week picked it up 12/26/14. Car seemed to be driving fine through January 2015. February I started noticing that the car seemed to accelerate whenever I started braking. Didn't pay it much attention at first but it started to do it more frequently. Accelerating as if the car was not recognizing that I was pressing the brake. A week a ago we had a sleet and ice storm, I was driving slowly to work and started to slow down as I approached an intersection and the car accelerated on its own I slammed on brakes to keep from sliding into the car in front of me. It was really scary. I dropped my car off at the dealership 2/24/15 and was put in a enterprise rental not a loaner. Which I had to pay a $50 deposit and I'm paying $22 per day for there protection plan. All while my brand new car which I've only had for 2 months is in shop. I received a call yesterday to tell me that my car is having a problem going into 3rd gear and once in 3rd gear it's having a hard time coming out of 3rd gear and that my transmission will need to be replaced. I probably wont get my car back until next week some time. This has been the worst car purchasing experience from day one. Please do your research before purchasing a Chrysler. Stay tuned!

200 S AWD 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,500 miles

I would think Chrysler would have tested the 9 speed more. The dealership has only one tech that can work on the transmission, per Chrysler. There are 7 cars ahead of mine from Enterprise, all need new transmissions.

200 Limited 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,492 miles

I am frustrated. My Chrysler 200 is sitting at the dealership awaiting a new transmission at 5,xxx miles. I had no replacement vehicle from Sat am until 4:30pm on Monday. I called the dealership to see about a trade in and now they have a $5,000 incentive so I have to go upside down by $7,000-$9,000 if I trade it in. I will never buy a Chrysler again in my life!

200 Limited 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

Transmission failed at 5,000 miles. My car is sitting at the dealership until the new transmission arrives. This will be the last Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep I ever buy again. Service center says the problem is internal and a new transmission is needed. Buyer beware!

Update from Feb 24, 2015: Just wanted to give an update, as I received my vehicle back yesterday. Apparently the cause of the transmission failure was the C-Clutch Snap Ring. But Chrysler told my dealer to replace my whole transmission which they did. Apparently, this is becoming a big issue. If you have the same problem, id like to know, as someone already said emailed me and said they did. A lawsuit might be suitable if enough people have this problem.
