300 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,500 miles
The contact stated the front end shook, made noise, and pulling to the left. She took the vehicle to the dealership, and they replaced the tires. The vehicle shook for the first mile and a half. The contact stated because they were self sealing tires the material inside clumped up because of the cold weather. The tire manufacturer told her to take the vehicle to a tire dealership. The vehicle was towed. As a result, the pressure from being strapped down during towing caused the upper control arm bushing to pop out. Also, the tie rod end on the passenger's side needed to be replaced. The tire dealership told the contact to get those repaired before they could address the tire problem. The contact's husband was able to put the bushing back in, but no repairs have been made to the vehicle. The consumer had a transmission leak. Updated 01/11/06.

Tires defective, I own a 300C Chrysler vehicle that have Continental tires on it size 225/60hr/18 that am being told by my dealership [meadowlands of carmel, NY) that they need to be replaced, these tires should have lasted 60,000 miles and my vehicle only has 21,000 miles on it, and Continental would only give me 50 dollars per tire, was also informed by service rep billy O'brien that they had another 300C that tires had to be replaced at 12,000 miles, and these tires are after market and they have less tread on them. If anything becomes of this letter I would like the Continental tires that are put on Chrysler vehicles looked into, this could become a safety problem, accident waiting to happen. The tire size I mention was not listed on your form so I just clicked what you had.

Tires on 2005 Chrysler 300C prematurely wore out, dealer referred to Continental tires, Continental tires made modest and ineffective adjustment. Tires were rotated every 4 to 5000 miles and 95% of driving was highway. Only tire made for his car is Continental. Forced to buy same tire again.

The contact stated upon routine maintenance of vehicle the dealer informed the contact that the tires eeded to be replaced. The contact stated he should not need to have new tires because the tires only had 20,000 miles on them at this time. The dealer stated there were wires coming through on two of the tires. The consumer did have the tires replaced on his vehicle. The tires were the original equipment on his vehicle when purchased. The tire manufacturer is Continental. The contact has not contacted the tire manufacturer, but has contacted the dealer of the vehicle. And they informed the contact that the tire manufacturer was the one who would warranty the tires. The contact stated he did have the tires rotated 3 times before the dealer indicated the tires needed to be replaced. The consumer did contact the manufacturer and they were not willing to assist.

Contact purchased a 2005 Chrysler 300 limited edition sedan on 7-27-05. He drove it home. The next day his wife parked vehicle in the parking lot where she worked. 30 minutes later, the manager of the building called contact wife's office informing her there was a car on fire in the parking lot. Flames came out of the engine block. The car was totally destroyed in less than 24 hours after purchasing it. The car parked next to contact's vehicle was destroyed, as well as 2 or 3 other cars were damaged. He contacted daimler/Chrysler, and they were going to send someone to look at the car. The dealer agreed to give contact a loaner vehicle. Contact did not notice any defect within the car prior to the fire. This was reported to the fire department and police department. Contact had pictures of the car. He said that dealer installed a passive alarm system with an ignition kill, a remote start feature, could start the car without the key. A lo-jack anti theft system was installed. Also, the car included a navigation system, power adjusted gas and brake pedals, self sealing tires, and side/curtain air bags. He purchased a an extended warranty of 7 years,100,00 miles bumper to bumper.

Contact went to dealership to have inspection done and the car. However, it did not pass inspection because the tires were unsafe because of their condition. This was a safety issue because the owner's manual advised the rotation tires every 3,000 miles up to 72 months. She has done that, but the tires were worn out. She called Continental to get the tires from the warehouse. The ware house did not have any of the Continental, Contour plus tires. She placed an order for new tires, but it will be approximately 2 weeks before they will be in. She talked to a representative at Continental, and he told her the tires were good until 60,000 miles. Her car had 20,000 miles. She felt that people were being mislead by owner's manual as to how long tires will last.

Goodyear tire. Integrity P215/65R17. This tire came with the vehicle when purchased brand new. The consumer heard a noise from the tire and went back to the dealer and was told that the tire was defective, however the tire was under warranty and to return it to the Goodyear dealer. The owner later contacted the Goodyear manufacturer who stated the tire was not defective. The owner took the tire to Mr. Tire who inspected the tire and said that the belts had shifted within the tire. Provide further details.
