I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 touring and I have had several issues with this car. From the first week that I bought the car(2/10/2013) used with 71,000 miles this car has caused me problems. The first issues I experienced was a problem with the transmission. The car would act like it was searching for the correct gear by shifting up and down on its own even when I was not accelerating, this would happen whenever I would go over 40 miles per hour. The problem ended up being the throttle body inside my transmission. The next issue I experienced was a shifting in the front end whenever I went over a speed bump or pot hole in the road, I found out that the strut, ball joint, and the rocker arm had to be replaced on my front end. Then the dials on my dash started to go crazy periodically for no reason at all, I have yet to figure out what this is but I assume it has something to do with the computer. I also experienced complete failure of my cooling system. I had to replace the drier, condenser, expansion valve, and one other part that I cannot remember. The total for this job was about 2,700 and the transmission work was 3,750 and the work on the front end was a total of about $800 not to mention the brakes I've replaced and the new set of tires I bought for the car and I have had this car for 1 year and 7 months.

I own a 2006 Chrysler 300 touring. I drove the car without any problem and parked in my car garage at home. I went to the car to drive out of home, engine starts well, but gear lever is stuck to park, will not disengage. I researched a little about this and noticed that this is a major problem with the Chrysler car and many people have been having problems with this. I also noticed that Chrysler had issued a recall for this problem. I called a local Chrysler dealership and reported the problem and was told that the recall did not apply to my specific car. I then called the Chrysler group recall assistance center at 1-800-853-1403. I spoke with [xxx] (employee id [xxx]) who told me that my car was not covered under the recall. I made it clear to him that this is a manufacturer problem, a defective product being sold to consumers like myself and that Chrysler needs to take full responsibility for it. I requested for the name and email or other contact information of the person in charge of recalls at Chrysler and [xxx] told me he is not allowed to give out that information. I was told I have to go fix my car myself for a manufacturing defect. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Vehicle will not shift into gear from park. No warning lights are illuminated on the dashboard, there is nothing indicating there is any issue. Pressing the brake does not seem to unlock the shift lock mechanism that would allow me to shift into gear. Contacted Chrysler group and was informed that although there have been recalls for the same problem in other model years, the 2006 model year is not currently covered.

Found on internet several other 300 owners with same issue. Found Chrysler customer notification K39 which covers 2005-2007 Dodge charger, magnum and Chrysler 300 issues with "pink plastic" part breaking and not allowing car to shift out of park. Called Chrysler recall hotline and informed my vehicle, even though it is experiencing exact same issue, was not covered because it is not from the correct plant.
