Vehicle repeatedly stalls at low speeds once gas tank is filled up. Has stalled in intersections on busy streets and on freeway off-ramps. Problem resolves when gas tank is less than 7/8 full. Dealer advises this is a problem with Chrysler gas tanks, but that the company will not fix defect.

My 2006 Chrysler 300 limited was parked in my driveway and would not come out of park. I had to disassemble the gear lever box in order to manually depress the mechanism that moves the shifter. My vehicle has sat in my driveway for one year not being driven. My complaint is the part that broke is a cheap piece of pink plastic that Chrysler has recalled for some vehicles, but my VIN was not included. Chrysler should include all vehicles that had this installed, not some of them.

The vehicle stalls at low speeds or when stopped at a stop sign. It sometimes will exhibit a sudden loss of power followed by a chime as if engine is about to stall. Two dealerships and two local mechanics have performed a complere system diagnostic. One of them retrieved code P0700-related to loss of communication with PCM. He cleared the codes and test drove it again and could not replicate the problem.the dealerships have no clue as to what is going on. This is a serious problem if our car were to stall all of a sudden on the highway and cause an accident. From what I have seen there are hundreds of complaints on this issue, is there anything you can do?

Due to substandard design, the material used to insure proper gear shifting fails. After much research, it appears to be common. The cost of repair and towing does not seem fair when the problem is so common.

Without any warning the car would not come out of park. Dealership said that it was internal shifter failure. This is a 2006 Chrysler 300 that I purchased in November of 2005. They recalled the 2005 with this problem but not the 2006.
