300C 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,000 miles

Bought 2006 Chrysler 300C new for $36,000, dealer did all service from day 1, car stalled occasionally and interior lights flashed them dimmed. Took it in several times paid diagnostic, nothing found. Continued to stall over the years, my wife didn't want to drive the car being it was dangerous. Finally irritated enough to take in again Nov 2011, nothing found again. Feb 2012 went to bank came back out and would start, blown engine. No warning, No lights, No overheating...nothing. how could this be? Dealers response, these things just happen! Was at 102,000 miles, over our Gold Warranty expired at 100,000 miles. Go figure...90 days later after provide ever single service receipt and fighting with dealer and Chrysler Corp. they decided to split the cost well over $4,000, just my portion.

Nice looking car, but DO NOT BUY A CHRYSLER! You will regret every moment.

We own Maxima 2005 bought new, runs great at 326,000 miles. Ford Expedition 2005 bought new, runs amazing 198,000 miles. Owned Volvo for ever with 289,000 miles no problems to talk about!

300C Heritage 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 113,687 miles

what the f---. I paid 46,000 for this vehicle, and Chrysler doesn't honor that the 5.7 hemi has a major problem? Its evident that the rods are weak and break off from the piston causing catastrophic failure.

The car showed no indication of a problem when suddenly it would not start anymore. I had a mechanic check it out and to my surprise #5 piston had detached from the rod crushing the spark plugs.

300C 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

As far as the engine in my car it has NEVER gave me any problems. Then out of the blue my fiance gets back in it from the store and tries to go home but the car won't start. He tried a few times and it wouldn't stay running. Later that night we both went and helped a friend of ours jump start it because the battery had died. The engine still wouldn't turnover. My car had to sit in Wal Mart parking lot from Saturday night until Monday morning! After having it towed to the dealership Monday I knew they wouldn't get to it right away. Tuesday morning I get a call. The lady asked me a ton of questions and says she has no idea how or why it happened but the engine is completely locked up!

Now it's my decision whether they tear into it which will cost about $800 just to see what the problem is! Then I will have to pay for whatever they find is wrong with it! So I am stuck between a rock and a hard place!!! I can not afford a new car but do I really want to put that kind of money into my old one?!?!?!?! You would think that a $38,123.50 car would give some kind of indication that there was a engine problem!!!! I mean dang alarms go off on it all the time for low tire pressure and low fuel!!! Couldn't I get a warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

300C Hemi V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,000 miles

My car just would not start. I thought I needed a "jump" or new battery. Vehicle was towed, dealership said I need a new engine. I have had all service/maintenace to date. Car is no longer under warranty and I have never had problems before (oh oops the car was stuck in park and I had to "rig" the car until I could get to dealership to replace a plastic clip to shift). Chrysler opened a case but said they could not help me and it would not move up the ladder or chain of command unless the mechanic could find error on Chrysler side. I am not giving up! $7K is a lot of money.

300C 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I bought this car from new in 2006 .It cost me £33,000.00 British pounds .I serviced regularly .

I parked up at the supermarket everything fine enjoying the weekend.Came back to my car started it up to a huge noise and then a rattle blue smoke coming out of the exhaust .I phoned the AA who recovered it to my home.As it was the weekend the garage was closed .I then paid £100.00 British pounds for the car to be towed to the my local garage on the monday. The dealership was too far away for the car to be towed it would had cost a small fortune.

The garage couldn't look at my car until the Thursday ,they put a camera down the engine and told me that afternoon it was terminal. Two pistons had gone and the rattle was a valve in the engine. The only solution was a new engine ,We cannot buy new engines over here they would have to be shipped from the USA which you guessed would cost a small fortune ! as it has got to travel the Atlantic. So the top of the bottom of it is.

The car is worth £7500.00 British pounds running .A reconditioned engine would cost me £2000.00 then if I could find anyone to fit it as it is a huge job it would cost £2500.00 then I'm not guaranteed the engine could go again as they only offer a 1 months guarantee.I phoned Chrysler and said to them , that I understand the warranty is for 3years only .But I would expect this engine to last as I had been looking after it like a baby from new. The girl on the phone said someone would call be back. That was 3weeks ago now no one has had the courtesy to call me back even after I have spent probably with parts etc £50,000.00 British pound with this company .Thank you and good evening.

300C AWD 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

My 2006 300C AWD was maintained with full synthetic oil at the proper intervals. At about 65,000 miles the engine developed a knock which turned out to be the #6 main bearing, and the solution proposed by the dealer was an engine replacement at $7,500 dollars. Very painful. The mechanic stated it was an engine oiling problem that was common to this engine and was not an oil level problem, because the remainder of the bearings were all good. I do not know if this particular bearing is the one that has failed in other 5.7L HEMI's or not. My other 300C which is a 2010 just failed with a broken timing chain that bent 7 valves and pushrods and collapsed 4 lifters at 61,000 miles. This was mostly covered by the 100,000 mile warranty; things like spark plugs (16 of these) are not covered. So it doesn't end with the 2006's. I will end it by never buying a HEMI or Chrysler again.

300C

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

I am reporting for my brother's 2006 Chrysler 300C complete engine failure although oil changes were always made timely by Chrysler dealership, and my brother has no computer experience to lodge his compliant. His car has only 55,000 miles on it, and in July 2012 on one of the hottest days in Detroit his engine failed after driving car a short distance. He called a tow company to tow it to Chrysler dealership to see why car stopped working. Tow truck driver informed my brother that his Chrysler 300C had been the 25 car of this type that he personally towed in the past 30 days. He gave my brother his name and phone number to be a witness if my brother would ever file a lawsuit. However my brother is retired from guess where...Chrysler Corporation after 30 full years of employment, can afford to hire an attorney. Long story short, Chrysler dealership said engine is blown, they have no idea why, as there was oil in car and he was up to date with his oil changes, and they are the only ones that completed oil changes on his car. They have the record. He was told by them to call Chrysler Headquarters to ask them to repair car, they refused, dealership also called and they too was denied claim. He has no warranty. My brother's car has been sitting at the Chrysler dealership since July because he do not have the $8,000 to fix the car. He has called customer service, spoken to supervisors, and also I too have made the calls to, to no avail. After reading so many websites about Chrysler engine problems with the Chrysler 300C, it seems to me that this brand need to be recalled. PS: My brother, father, mother, all retired from Chrysler, and has bought numerous Chrysler car's for years. They could car less. If anyone reads this compliant can you notify me if there is a class action lawsuit for the chrysler 300C engine, my brother would gladly sign up. Thank you.

Drove vehicle out of town. While on highway vehicle engine just quit. Made an emergency stop to avoid being hit my tractor trailer because car lost power. My family could have been killed! Hit something and had two flats on the rear. While on side of the road vehicle would not start! Vehicle was towed in. I was charged $500 to look at engine by Chrysler! No compression for engine start-up! Also water was found at tips of spark plugs! May need a new or re-manufactured engine! This engine problem is happening everywhere and mostly at 45000 mi range. My car has 85000 on the 300C with hemi! I am not prepared to pay the new engine price of $8950 as quoted by Chrysler. I have now been reduced to walking!

300C V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 23,000 miles

Engine has cut off on numerous occasions. It started at slower speeds such as pulling away from a full stop or a slow turn. While on the freeway in December, it started acting up at higher speeds. The engine would momentarily cut off. I took it to a Chrysler dealership here in Sonora and after they charged me $94 for the diagnostic test, the report was that there was no problem. The technician said that the only like problem they encountered resulted in the replacement of the coils on each cylinder (whatever that means). This is extremely disconcerting not knowing when the engine will cut off. It certainly keeps me on edge not knowing when the next event will happen. Seems there was another person with the same problem. Perhaps there are more to come.
