I completely filled up my gas tank (not just a top off) Friday afternoon. After driving a few miles, while in the turning lane and crossing traffic my car shut itself off. The steering wheel locked up and I was unable to steer to safety. I had to put the car in neutral and "coast" to the side. Luckily I was turning at a turning light and there wasn't heavy traffic. This was very dangerous and scared me! I tried to start my car and was unable to do so. It wouldn't "turn over" the first time. The second time trying to start it, it didn't seem like it would start and then finally started. The only light that came on (after the car shut itself off) was the oil like. My oil is completely full. Was just changed a month ago using synthetic. I had a mechanic look at it and was told that there was nothing wrong with it.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300C. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled after it was refueled. The failure was experienced numerous times. The contact was able coast on the road shoulder and restart the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the fuel tank. The fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 25,000 and approximate current mileage was 26,000. Just filled up car at gas station (don't top off) exited lot and proceeded on road way and car just died.lost all power, had just gotten up to about 15 mph.towed to dealership (. was told to replace cam-crank sensor). Tow service $80 work done $760. Next incident, December 3, 2012, just filled car up (not topping off) same problem as before. Towed to dealership, tow service $80. Dealership said they needed to replace evap canister and purge solenoid. Cost to replace $630.89. Latest incident was on July 5, 2013 filled up at station, same as before, this time the car died on the freeway. Took 3 police officers to push my car off the freeway and out of harms way. Once again had the car towed ($100 this time) to the dealership with the same problem. Today is July 31, 2013 and I just found out that they are now saying that the gas tank needs to be replaced, and the vents in the gas tank are clogged. The cost to me will be $1,800 to replace and once again another large expense. Until my boyfriend brought in some paperwork he found on a "Chrysler forum"( indicating that there were over 92 people that have reported the exact same problem ) the service dept. At the dealership says they have not had any problems like this before and they did not know how to deal with this problem. We asked them to take some of the gas out of the tank and take the car to the gas station and fill up the car. Well after getting gas the car died on the service reps. Not just once but 3 times. This whole time they had my car, not once did any codes show up. Work on my car is now pending. Very disappointed with Chrysler, this was my dream car and I can't even enjoy it. The car has less than 23,000 miles and I am scared to drive it. I don't understand why Chrysler does not recall these cars. My confidence and satisfaction with the Chrysler products is at an all time low.

We filled up the tank, not topping off, and headed home. The car was running smoothly, hesitated and stalled. No engine warning indicators, etc. It also stalled setting at a red light and at various other speeds. This has occurred again after every fill up since. If you put in park it will start right back up. Chrysler does not acknowledge or deny a problem when contacted. I was told to get a diagnostic and call them back. One service rep, at the dealership, acknowledge a couple of others having this problem the car is currently there and they are trying to recreate the problem. We keep our vehicles services, so that is not a problem.

After I purchased my 2006 Chrysler 300C on July 6th, 2013, the salesman filled the car up with gas. He had the car running & before I could get in the car, it switched itself off, not once but twice. The next incident was after the first time I filled my car with gas, which was July 26th, I drove to my next stop & my car switched off while pulling into a parking place. The next time was July 29th, my husband filled the car up & the car switched off twice!!! the next time was the next day, July 30th, I was at a red light & the car switched off. I have not made the 1st payment on the car, however, I am concerned with this major safety issue!!!

Vehicle stalled while turning into a parking lot within 3 miles after refueling (full tank). Fortunately, no other vehicles were ahead of me, and I was able to safely coast into a parking space straight ahead. As described by other owners, I lost all power "everything" steering, etc. Vehicle restarted after a brief period, and I was able to drive home. Took the vehicle to the dealership for repairs. Dealership immediately suspected the trouble was related to a full fuel tank and failing vapor vent valve in the fuel tank. I'm paraphrasing here but as I understood it, liquid fuel was breaching the vent valve when typically only vapors are vented. Remedy: Replace the fuel tank. An expensive solution for what is seemingly a defect experienced by many owners. The fuel tank had to be special ordered, and once the part arrived, I was to bring the vehicle back with as little fuel as possible in the tank. On more than one occasion, I couldn't time the return to the dealership with my appointment so I had to refuel the vehicle. I purposely did not fill the fuel tank to full, and consequently, did not experience any subsequent stalling until I could return the vehicle for servicing.

I have been back to the dealer 5 times because the car stalls when making a sharp turn/U turn or hard stop/start. The car will stall and the esp/bass and oil lights come on. I lose power steering and power brakes. The car will not restart until the key has been turned completely off and then back on. The dealer always tells me it is operating normally. I finally gave up and was just living with it after the vehicle went out of warranty. It was only after I read another person's account online that I realized it was happening after a fuel fill (I do not top off my tank). After learning this, I can now make the car stall on demand. All I have to do is fill it until the pump shuts off, then make a hard turn back and forth and the car stalls. If you pull out from the gas station slowly and make no sharp movements, the car will not stall. The dangerous part of this is if you have to make an emergency maneuver after filling the tank, the car will stall.

Every time after refueling the vehicle to a full tank of fuel vehicle stalls and sometimes several tries before it restarts. Once the fuel tank level goes down about a gallon, the problem stops. This always occurs after refueling to a full tank of fuel. If I fill to about 3/4 tank the car can stall but not always. The only known fix to work all the time is a new gas tank for $1500 to install.

The first time I stalled was after filling up my tank, I was leaving the gas station, I was in the right lane of on coming traffic when it stalled, nearly getting hit by an on coming car. Since that time it has stalled at least six times. I went to my Chrysler dealer who claims they had no knowledge of this problem. It happened again two days later while on a busy highway. I was making a left turn into a shopping center when it stalled, leaving me in the far left lane of on coming traffic. I immediately went to the Chrysler dealership and reported it again at which time I was informed there was still no recall on the car and I was told I would have to leave it. Our 2006 Chrysler 300C dies after fueling the gas tank to full. It has died in intersections were we have almost been run into and in turns where is locks up and there is no power anything and have almost crashed. We have taken it to the dealership and continuously pay money to fix what they think it is and now for the third time they are asking for almost 1800 dollars to replace the tank. I can definitely see how this is a major problem and a huge safety issue.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the rollover valve caused the failure and that the fueltank would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the manufacturer stated the fuel tank was on back order. The failure mileage was 49,000 and the current mileage was 59,000.

I filled up my car with premium fuel (as always) and stopped the fill at the first click of the gas pump. I started my car and reset my trip information into my computer and put it in drive and got on the 59 North feeder road. It started jerking like the engine was cutting out so I slowed down and when I slowed down it completed died on the feeder road. I started back up and it missed a couple of times and died again at the red light. It seems that if you are on an open stretch of road going over 30 or 40 it won't die - but will cut out and jerk really bad. This has happened another 10-15 times since then. I stopped filling the car up and just put in 3/4 tank. My husband will forget and fill it up and it does this every time you fill the car up. It has died in the middle of the road as I was leaving a gas station, it has died in intersections after leaving a red light. Very frustrating and dangerous!

I backed my vehicle out of the driveway, headed downhill to the intersection. I stopped at the stop sign, as I accelerated leaving the stop sign, the vehicle stalled out. I placed the shifter in neutral and restarted the vehicle. Drove to the next intersection and the vehicle did the same thing. After the initial problem I drove the vehicle to the dealership, where I purchased the vehicle. The vehicle was, and is, still under warranty. The dealership diagnosed the problem to be a failed throttle control and brake pedal assembly, estimated cost of around $1,000. They would not say for sure if the repairs would fix the problem. These repairs would not be covered by my extended warranty. My vehicle has stalled out sporadically this past several months, sometimes in heavy traffic, where I could easily be rear ended. My vehicle has the 5.7 liter hemi V8 engine with automatic transmission.

I bought my car new in March 2006 and I am the only owner/driver. I do like my car and will buy another Chrysler 300C. When the car was new I had several stalling issues where the car would stall at low speeds or while sitting at a traffic light. I do not recall if it was after refueling. I took the car to the dealer and no "codes" were found and the dealer could not replicate the problem. The car than ran perfectly for six years with no stalling issues. All maintenance has been performed including new spark plugs as recommended by Chrysler. Starting earlier this year the stalling restarted and it only happens after I fill the car with fuel. I have tried several other gas stations and ran some fuel injection cleaner through the fuel system. I do not top off the tank when filling the car up. At one point the stalling occurred after every fill up and now it is not as often (every other fill up). After filling the tank the car starts normally and as I exit the gas station and stop to check to merge into traffic the car will stumble and stall. It restarts and will stall again if I don't keep the engine RPM's up. Sometimes after I fill up and quickly merge into traffic (and not allow the car to fall to idle speed) while accelerating up to 25-40 mph the car will stumble and it feels like it is not getting fuel. It does not stall because the car is gaining speed and then clears up after a "surge" and then runs fine till the next fill up cycle. I am careful about pulling out in heavy traffic after fill ups out of fear of it stalling.

After filling the gas tank full I drove the car 1-2 miles and stopped at a traffic light and when I went to accelerate to go forward the engine completely died. I coasted to a stop just past the intersection and was able to re-start it. The same thing happened about a mile further down the road only this time I was not stopped, but driving and accelerating and it died and I was forced to coast to a stop and restart the engine. The problem continued for several days and then stopped. It happened again the next time I filled the gas tank up with very similar issues, and again stopped after the gas tank had used several gallons of fuel. I took it to the dealer and was informed that they would have to replace the gas tank (at a cost of $1600). The technician then told me that if I kept the gas tank at 75% full and not completely fill it I would have no problems. He was right, since these events in December of 2012 I have only filled it to 75% full and have had no problems. I am reporting this because I read in the dallas morning news on 05/16/2013 that this model of Chrysler is being investigated for the problem I have told you of. The description/symptoms listed in the news release seemed to match mine and I am therefore reporting it.

After filling up gas tank to capacity, vehicle stalled after driving for approximately one mile because fuel flooded the engine. The vehicle restarted after several attempts but vehicle continued to stall after a mile. I took vehicle to an authorized dealer who stated that the fuel tank needed to be replaced.the fuel tank was replaced but I am still concerned that this problem could have caused a crash resulting in a lot of damage and possible death. The vehicle only had 26,100 miles.

After filling up gas tank to full (not overfilling - stop fueling once pump shuts off) and driving at slow speeds less than 5mph or at idle speed, car dies with no warning, engine light and oil light comes on. It takes several tries to re-start the car. Engine dies approximately 4+ times until it runs fine. This happens periodically, not everytime car is fueled up. I fill up at 1/2 tank twice a week. This incident occurs periodically - about once month. I have had the car die as I am crossing busy intersections, turning into a side road enough times that I have blocked traffic and have fear of being T-boned because the car dies without warning in the middle of crossing a street or when making a turn.
