Two years ago we had to have major rust repair done. Rocker panels were rusted. That was $1200. This week the car would not pass inspection again. Rotted cross-member this time our mechanic said. He sent us to Dodge dealer who said subframe is rotted. He has given us an estimate of $1885.40 for the part and $600 for labor. We have no choice but to do this as we cannot afford to buy another car and have a car payment.

I have read this is a major problem with this car. I do not understand why there was not a major recall by Chrysler since this issue has been going on for a number of years and is caused from a defect by Chrysler. I saw there are some class action suits that have been filed this year but we are not sure how to be involved in these if it is even possible at this point. My wife and I have had a lot of medical issues the last two years and she has had to retire and this is the last thing we need with all our medical bills. It is so sad that these days that major companies do not step up and take responsibility for their mistakes. I know it is about their bottom line but we have a bottom line too. They do not care about the little guy anymore, just about their big company.

We have loved this car for years and still do but are so upset that now it is taking so much of our money, more than we ever thought possible.

Unbelievable that a sub-frame rusted through in a car with 9 years, 61000 miles, with good care.

Ancient roman carriages had better frames. ... $3000 to fix it, is going Chrysler to help?

I tried to have my car inspected, however the entire subframe is rusted out. I contacted the dealer who gave me a phone number to chrysler customer service. This led to an address that I can write a letter too. Really. I have no car but you want a letter. I asked about a fax number, however the representative stated they did not have a fax number. How do they not have a fax number!!!! So now I have to write a letter and put it through the post office. I guess I am supposed to walk to work and to pick my children up on my back because the garage where I took it doesn't want me to even drive it home! Thanks a lot!!! Hope you receive your letter in 5 to 7 days!

I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica that I took to have oil changed & they noticed the subframe was rusted out. I was told that it was a safety issue & shouldn't be driving it because the engine/transmission could drop out. This vehicle has been taken care of and wasn't kept outside and always stored inside a garage when I wasn't driving it. Chrysler of course wouldn't pay saying that it wasn't covered. I was told that a new one would be $4200.00, but tried to find a used one & went thru 6 different ones being delivered to my repair shop that were in no better shape. Chrysler says there is no problem.......but can't find one that isn't rusted out!!!! I have had seasoned mechanics tell me this is unheard of. They have seen 30yr old cars that are in better shape than mine. VERY upset w/Chrysler not standing behind their products. Poor quality manufacturing and then can't even fix their obvious mistake!
