I own a 3005 Chrysler Pacifica that has been taken regularly to the dealer for oil changes repairs and regular maintenance. Today my husband noticed some rusting of the frame that the engine sits in so I went to dealer and had them look at it and they agreed and were surprised that this was happening and it shouldn't. I was told it should be fixed is very unsafe and the cost is very expensive. I called Chrysler and they simply said sorry not a recalled vehicle and there is nothing they can do. They told me to fix it and save the receipt in case there is a future recall. I am very upset by this response. I am concerned about driving my kids as well as myself any where in a car that is unsafe and apparently our safety is not a concern for Chrysler. I will make sure no one I know buys a car from this company especially after finding out that so many other Pacificas have this same problem. It should have been recalled.

Just had a state inspection and oil change done on my 2005 Pacifica. The technician put my car on a lift and pointed out multiple areas where the engine cradle frame is rusting out. He had never seen anything like this on a vehicle of this age. As it turns out, while investigating this issue on the nhtsb and other web sites, this is a common problem with the Chrysler Pacifica. And is apparently of little concern to Chrysler. They have offered some people help and others have been told "too bad", based on some arbitrary manufacture date range. This is even though the defect is the same no matter the manufacture date. This total disregard for the safety of their consumers is unbelievable and should not be tolerated. While my car has passed this inspection, without correction, it will never pass again. This was not a low cost vehicle and if Chrysler was aware of this safety issue why was I not contacted. Are they waiting for some kind of serious accident with injuries or death to respond properly? I contacted Chrysler on this issue and was told they would not help me. "thank you for contacting the Chrysler customer assistance center. Thank you for your recent contact regarding your vehicle. We fully appreciate your concern, particularly in view of the expense and inconvenience involved, however, we are unable to accommodate your request for out-of-warranty consideration. The vehicle has exceeded the time and/or mileage limitations of the warranty (or warranties) we offered on the vehicle at the time it was purchased. Although we are unable to provide a more favorable reply, we appreciate the opportunity to review your request. Thank you again for taking the time to communicate with us. We're sorry we cannot provide a more favorable reply thanks again for your email."

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while having a state inspection performed on the vehicle she was notified that the engine cradle was corroded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who verified the failure and stated that it needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. Took the car to local Chrysler dealer (bournival Chrysler Jeep, york, me) for annual inspection. Was told car could not be inspected because the front cross member had rusted through in spots.(car had been inspected at the same facility a year ago and no problem was found) the problem was confirmed by an independent mechanic. Car has 91,500 miles. I have read of Chrysler offering a 10-year, 100,000 warranty on this problem but neither the service manager nor NHTSA could confirm. There are dozens of instances of this problem, both in the United States and Canada listed on edmunds (townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.F0ec024/258). this is a dangerous situation that should be cleared up by Chrysler.

I have suspicion that the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica's motor mounts are below expected standards. I monitor my vehicles for complaints and recalls to insure that if I have to have work done on my cars it is for expected wear and tear of any vehicle. It is through this monitoring that I have noticed that I am not the only person to experience what sounds like substandard motor mounts. This has been my 1st vehicle of any kind to require replacement motor mounts.my 2005 Pacifica with 73K miles has had to have both motor mounts replaced. It seems that before they were replace they were no longer functioning and the motor was being held in place by 3 other minor mounts. Apparently, the backorder is so bad that it could not be guaranteed within 2 months. I had to order them through a 3rd party in order to replace before any major damage was caused. This raises red flags: Are these faulty mounts" do they no longer make these mounts for other vehicles? if so, is it due to substandard design? why has there not been an investigation"

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. Ever since the vehicle was purchased, the air bag sensor fails to activate when an occupant is seated in the front passenger seat, regardless of their weight. The dealer stated that there are two sensors in the seat that could not be repaired or replaced because that is how they were designed by the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 28,000 and current mileage was 46,000. Updated 5/19/08 the consumer also coplained about wind noise. Updated

Traveling at highway speeds the sunroof glass was partially separated from the mounting frame. The glass was vertical in the air stream until the car was moved to the side of the road. The glass was fully removed and taken to a glass repair shop to reattach to the mounting frame.

Noticed on September 1, 2005 that the passenger's side of vehicle was higher than the driver's side. This causes the vehicle to pull to driver's side. The dealership checked the vehicle. They measured and compared it to a floor model, and they said it was the same size. Then, had the vehicle checked at a local mechanic, and they measured it, and determined it was an inch higher on the passenger's side. Contacted the manufacturer, and they advised the consumer to make arrangements with the dealer. But when the consumer called the dealer they did not know how to fix it.

Popping/clicking upon turning, stopping, taking off- had car just 2 days and had to bring back to dealer- read all of the service bulletins, and safety recalls, defects and complaints - found it to be the power transfer unit - ptu - seems that this is a problem with 2005 pacificia's. dealer had 3 days. Internal side molding on psg 2nd door defective / pulling away from frame / exterior back black panels faded already/ wet carpet on driverside floor - smells/mildew car is new!
