Engine cradle rusted through lower section on each end. Noticed at onset of oil change.

Traveling at 35 - 40 mph and cars came to a stop and no matter how hard I pushed the brakes, the car would not stop. Steering wheel and under steering wheel airbags deployed, burning my shin. Upon starting the car at the body shop, the dashboard caught on fire due to the airbag modular. Fire destroyed my vehicle.

We have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica that we purchased used in 2008 with 26K miles. In 2011 we started experience problems. Simultaneously, we came up with codes P0700, P0420 and P0456 and have had to have the transmission rebuilt, the catalyst converter replaced and new fuel pump due to the evap leak. In a matter of months, we spent $5,900 on repairs and in order for the car to pass inspection. We were still making payments on this car and after contacting Chrysler repeatedly, we were told that they would not be responsible, so we were forced to make these repairs. After further research, we found that many Pacificas had many of the same problems that we were experiencing and that Chrysler refused to acknowledge the issues.we have had electrical problems with the power seats, bluetooth, side view mirrors. The electrical system shortens the life of the battery and we have had to replace the battery prematurely several times. Now we need an ABS sensor, and the car leaks in through the front window seals on both sides when it rains. We have just found out when we had the car in for a routine oil change, that our engine cradle(sub frame) is rusted and is a hazard to drive and will cost approximately $2,500 to replace! we just made our last payment on this car as we found this information out. We have also found out that many Pacificas have this rusting problem and Chrysler did acknowledge this for 2004 & 2005 models but not after. We are aware that there is a class action suit and want to be sure that the ntsa is aware of this. This is a family car and there may be many unsuspecting Pacifica owners and their families out there who are at risk of injury or possibly loss of life. We feel that Chrysler needs to warn all owners and implore them to have them bring their Pacificas to the dealership free of charge to have it inspected and repaired for this hazardous issue.

Frame at motor mounts has significant rust. Rest of car is very good shape with no rust. The drivers side has more damage than passenger but both side have a good real of rust in the engine cradle area

I recently bought a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica touring with under 87,000 miles. When I went to have the state inspection performed I was informed by the dealership that this car will not pass inspection due to the excessive amount of rust on the engine cradle. We were informed that the vehicle is not safe to drive and needs over $3,600 of repair work done. I am a single mother and can not afford that kind of repair cost. I find it crazy that a car under 10 years old should have this kind of rust damage. The visible outside of the car is in perfect shape, but the underside is totally corroded! when I started looking online to see if anyone else has encountered this issue, I was amazed at the number of other people who have encountered this same issue. This car is not safe to drive with my daughter, as one good pot hole could cause the engine to fall out and kill both of us or anyone else on the road around us. I will paying for years on a car I cant even drive nor in good conscience sell to someone else. I find it extremely disappointing that Chrysler refuses to step up and do right by its customers. It will only be a matter of time until someone is killed by this car.

With only 50512 miles I was notified by my service agent that the car front sub frame is rusted through and risking collision or engine falling out causing personal injury or death. This problem has been reported several times and is well documented over the internet.I contacted Chrysler and got "sorry we cant help you" for a response.

I took my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in to a Chrysler dealership because I couldn't pass the il emissions test. I was told that my subframe was very rusted and holes were in it. He told me that they fixed my car so I can pass emissions ($900) and basically told me to drive it for a few months and get rid of it. I asked him how much it would be to fix it and he told me, it would be very expensive. I did my research and there are a lot of people with the same problem. There is a recall for 04-05 Pacificas and after looking at pictures of other subframes for 04-05 models, they look just like mine (rusted w/holes). 06 Pacificas should also be in the recall. I did not call Chrysler because I felt I would get the same response as others. So now I have to pray every time I drive the vehicle that the subframe doesn't break. I still owe on the vehicle and can't afford another. Please do something!

Today I was told that the engine cradle of my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica with 125214 miles was rusted out and needs to be replaced, will not pass nys inspection. Online I read that Chrysler is only are covering the 2004 and 2005 models. This is a extreme safety problem just like the defects in the 2004 and 2005 that Chrysler needs to cover.

I took my vehicle to ganley Dodge, bedford, Ohio and it was pointed out to me that I needed a subframe because mine was rusting out very badly and it needs replacing. I have always taken my vehicle to this dealership and apparently they have failed on their inspection to find this item to be defective. They tell me that it rusted due to the fact that water enters the frame and it has no where to go except to make rust holes for the water to drain out.

Saturday I changed the oil and filter on my 2006 Pacifica. I almost had a heart attack when I saw that the cradle part of the frame, the cradle that holds the power train, was rusted. This was not surface rust but serious "metal missing" rust. The car is only 9 years old, has just over 72000 miles, has been in a garage every night and has had all periodic oil, filters, coolant, etc. Done on a prescribed basis. I have kept this vehicle in "mint" condition since one of my kids wants the car. I called walser Chrysler, a local dealership I have bought all my mini vans, 300S and my Pacifica from. They gave me an 800 number. I called the 800 number which was a Chrysler office number. They pretended they had never heard of the problem and there was no recall or warranty offered by Chrysler. The frame of this vehicle and all the Pacifica from 2004 to 2007 were Mercedes Benz frames. One would certainly assume that a mb frame, even though it was in a Chrysler product, should not rust through in nine years. It is almost inconceivable! if you google this cradle/frame problem on the internet you will be flooded with examples of what I found on my Pacifica. Yet Chrysler's warranty department has "never heard of the problem". some writers claim Chrysler has approved repairs on their vehicles. In fact there is a page long form, not on Chrysler's letterhead, that states Chrysler has admitted to the defective faults, will repair or reimburse as necessary and covers all Pacificas from 2004 to 2007. One of the writers said the quote for fixing his cradle/frame was just under $4,000. I think where there is this defect on so very many vehicles it is time for Chrysler to step up. Add that if the cradle finally breaks the entire power train will fall out. The power train sits over the front axles so that would cause a horrid problem! enough is enough! any death will be on Chrysler!!!

The sub frame and engine cradle are completely rusted away! the vehicle was purchased new, garage kept and dealer serviced. The engine sub frame and cradle is rusted and gone from the vehicle. I am the owner of the car and was told by my mechanic that the entire engine cradle is rusted / rotted thru and that the car is now unsafe to drive. Chrysler has issued an extended warranty of 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever is 1st) for 2004-2005 but not for 2006, apparently I have the exact same rot & rust issue (so it was never resolved at Chrysler) but a less accommodating warranty to fix and address it.

My grandmother brought her 06 Pacifica in for an oil change at the dealership where she purchased the vehicle new in March of 2006 and has had all work done since. She was informed that she needed to have the sub frame (engine cradle) replaced immediately and the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that she should no longer operate the vehicle. Her car has just over 94,000 miles she needs to have over $5,000 of work performed on her car. From a quick search on the issue this is a very common issue with these vehicles and has caused several accidents with the failure of the sub frame causing the wheels to fall off the car.

Like other early model Chrysler Pacificas noted on the NHTSA site- my vehicle was taken into for an oil change and the shop informed me the car was unsafe to drive due to the engine cradle/ subframe being rusted/rotted out so badly you could see through it. They said that if a large enough bump was rolled over, the engine could fall out and a serious accident could occur as the vehicle would more than likely lose control. I am now afraid to allow my wife and 2 small children to drive in it for extended periods of time. I purchased the vehicle used for roughly $10,000 less than a year prior to learning about this safety issue from a Chrysler used and new car dealer-bryden motors in beloit, wi. I also purchased an $2000 extended warranty on the vehicle, which of course something like this is not covered in such a plan. I believe the damage was there prior to purchase and the dealer either failed to inform me, or didn't perform a well cared for inspection prior to the sale. Upon taking the vehicle back to the dealer-they said it was too far out from the original warranty and nothing could be done. They did take pictures and send to the Chrysler "imaging department" where the manufacturer defect claim I asked for them to place for me was immediately denied for coverage. I will be reaching out to Chrysler and the local media if necessary. This is a well known and serious safety concern with the Pacifica model and due to the expense involved to fix (was told between $2500-$5000) absolutely ruins the value of the vehicle less than a year after purchase from what I though was a reputable dealer and a reputable brand such as Chrysler. This is my 4rd Chrysler/Dodge vehicle I have owned in the past 19 years, and if the matter is not resolved, it will ultimately be my last.

My "subframe" broke off of the rear of my vehicle on both sides. When I backed out of a driveway, it sounded like I hit something, there was a clunk in the rear of the vehicle. Later that day, someone told me my rear wheels looked like they were tilting in. Not long after that, my daughter happened to be driving behind me and called and said there was a big metal thing hanging down under my car and my rear wheels were tilting in. I went to a local mechanic and it appears that it rusted and broke. The garage is currently looking for parts/repair information.

We have always had the car serviced at the Chrysler dealer and on this oil change were just informed about the extensive rust on the engine cradle. Did some research on the internet and found out that this is a common problem with Chrysler Pacifica and that Chrysler has extended the warranty on only a few 2004 and 2005 models. I called Chrysler and they refused to help with any repairs saying that my vehicle was outside the extended warranty models. There is a large rust hole in the engine cradle on one side and extensive rust on the other side.

While having normal oil change, frame was found to have rust holes with rust coming from inside. By digging deeper found that many other cars in years 2004-2007 have the same expensive repair problems. Also, a major safety problem as this can cause a failure of front end components. No recalls or fixes from Chrysler. Would like to find out why not on this major problem.
