Vehicle unexpectedly bucks and jerks when accelerating either from a complete stop or just keeping speed. This happens with no brake warning lights to those around you. It is a common issue experienced by many 2017 Pacifica van owners and has nearly caused an accident many times. Especially when trying to merge onto highways because the vehicle unexpectedly slows and bucks like your riding a bull and it is trying to throw you off. There is no way to predict exactly when this will happen in order to avoid a potential accident. Chrysler knows about the issue but refuses to acknowledge it.

Known issue for 2017 Chrysler Pacifica should be eligible for recall. Failing head gasket around 60k miles, just as the vehicle is out of power train warranty. The system is leaking coolant into the engine, causing a fume-y smell to fill our garage when started, and a boiling/bubbling sound can be heard during idle. Confirmed the issue with an independent service center. The manufacturer won't do anything for us because the problem was not diagnosed while under warranty, however the issue has been difficult to diagnose because it could have been several other things. The check engine light comes on and the vehicle misfires upon starting.

when driving on highways with cruise on for a amount of time. when turn off and when getting off the road. will stop at light and when you start to drive the van will act like it running out of gas will jerk and stop but will still be running almost been hit many times. talked to dealership they cant rep it doing it. I have had engine problems for over a year now. My car has had constant issues with rough idling and also jerking while driving. The jerking has been fixed for now but the rough idling has became worse to the point where the car feels as if it will stall out. My car has been at the dealership for repair since 12.22.22 and is still there today 1.11.23 - I was told by another repair shop (while getting brakes and an oil change ) that my car had 3 holes in the crankshaft and that was a problem because there should only be 2 holes. The dealership has replaced an EGR and now is talking about something on the engine to replace (but not the whole engine) and they have still not looked at the crankshaft to see if there are the incorrect number of holes. This is my primary vehicle and no one can seem to fix the problem

Additionally, the contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and coming to a complete stop, the engine was making a loud banging sound before the vehicle shut off. The electronic throttle control warning light was illuminated and the message "Service electronic stability" was displayed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an unknown repair was completed; however, the check engine warning light illuminated for several days. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11.

The windows will go down by themselves while driving, slow to start, and the dash lights/radio control screen takes several minutes to come on, and the auto sliding doors fail to operate occasionally. Several times the vehicle will lose Excelleration when starting from a stop or turning, the last time nearly causing an accident. The vehicle is becoming unsafe to drive and I have seen several like complaints on this year model vehicle.

Engine cylinder 3 misfire. ERROR CODE P303. dealer states cylinder 3 is warped, and will need new engine block. engine only has 49000 miles on it. all maintenance has been performed routinely. Many other 2017 chrysler pacificas have had this issue, and they are reported in the chrysler forums, ultimately needing a new engine at such a young age. NHTSA needs to compel chrysler to do a recall for this issue. A new engine at 50000 miles is ridiculous.

We recently took our Hybrid Chrysler Pacifica to the dealer and they mentioned that there are multiple engine and transmission mounts that need to be replaced in addition to the entire transmission. I reported to them over the years that the vehicle stutters up steep hills (>13.5 degrees). The electric motor produces too much torque, lurches forward, then cuts off and repeats the process. In doing so the electric drivetrain motor is twisting the vehicle apart. It is certainly a safety issue. If we get it fixed, it will certainly happen again and to anyone that has a steep driveway or goes up inclines at less than 5 mph. The process is easily repeated. Thank you!
