I read that there is on ongoing investigation related to the 2019-2021 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid (Investigation# PE-22-008). I read the ODI Resume, and would like to report the exact same issue with my Pacifica. I was traveling at about 40 MPH on a four lane highway in February of 2022 when I suddenly lost all motive power. The dashboard reported a charging system error. I was able to get the car to the side of the road (though I was lucky to be able to do so) and it had to be towed to the Chrysler dealership (Deery Brothers Chrysler, 651 Hwy 1 W, Iowa City, IA 52246, 319-600-6890). They replaced a part in the charging system and it briefly ran, and then failed (thus the dealer has also reproduced the problem). It has now been at the dealership since then waiting for Chrysler to figure out the problem. Apparently Chrysler has sent an engineer to Deery as well, so there may be some confirmation from the manufacturer.

While driving 70MPH on the freeway the power to the engine failed. The dash showed a power error, telling me to plug the vehicle in. After coasting to the shoulder, the power to the car would not turn off, nor would the engine turn back on. I sat on the shoulder of the I-15 Freeway in Rancho Bernardo, CA for 45 minutes until a tow truck could come and tow the car to the dealership where it was purchased, Bob Baker Chrysler in Carlsbad, CA. The service technician, Juan Gonzalez, kept the car for about a week trying to replicate the problem, detect the issue, or learn anything about it. He could not determine the cause or the solution. However the car would start again and appeared to drive normally again. After 7 days the car was returned to me with out any repairs or any explanations or any assurance that this would not happen again. My family was placed in serious danger by being forced to sit in the car on the small shoulder a major interstate freeway without any power to the engine.

Power to engine was lost while driving 75 miles per hour down the freeway in the HOV Express lane. There was no shoulder to pull over onto safely. This is the second time this has occurred. First incident was March 2021. Power to engine cut while driving on freeway 75 MPH. Car was towed to Bob Baker Chrysler. Dealer was unable to recreate the problem or diagnose after 7 days. Issues occurred again on 4/19/2022. Car was towed to Bob Baker Chrysler.

The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the brakes, ESC, Lane Keep Assist, air bags, and seat belt warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the "Rear Parking Assist Not Available" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who tightened the battery terminal; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the ORC module, the transmission control module, the body control module, the ABS module, and the wiring front end module; however, the check engine warning light illuminated while the dealer was taking the vehicle back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced low voltage failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Hendrick Chrysler Jeep FIAT (543 N McPherson Church Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303) who recharged the battery; however, the failure reoccurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the turn signals failed to work. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer - Crown Dodge of Fayetteville (436 N McPherson Church Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303) who updated an unknown software; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed with the Adaptive Cruise Control activated, the vehicle decelerated significantly and abruptly. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact's husband then depressed the brake pedal and veered to the side of the road, where the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted after several attempts: however, the vehicle continuously stalled while driving back to residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 31,800.

I have taken item to shop twice. The auto stop/start stops working and causes vehicle to stall. Dodge dealership says it is a loose battery wire and just reconnects it. The feature stops working and has a cautionary light. The vehicle runs poorly during this time and seems like transmission out of gear.

Countless episodes when on slippery conditions and using regenerative braking, usually going down a hill trying to maintain speed with steady moderate break pedal pressure. When I encounter these slippery conditions the regenerative brakes rapidly decrease their force (or entirely loose braking) for about 1 second. If I am on a longer stretch of slippery conditions (packed snow, ice) then this repeats at about 1 second intervals. This has occurred at speeds ranging from 10-35 mph. If I press harder the ABS kicks in, because the occurs on steep hills, instead of maintaining speed or slowing down, the effect of gravity leads to an acceleration.

The vehicle stalls out while actively driving it down the road on a city street. The vehicle stops mid driving, immediately shuts off, loses all power, and engages park by itself. The vehicle then fails to restart and leaves driver stranded in unsafe conditions. Happened the first time driving 40mph down a city road. Driver was almost rear ended. After 20 mins driver was able to get it started again only to have it happen half a mile down the road. Had the vehicle towed by Chrysler to the nearest dealership. They found no stored errors and said nothing was wrong. They installed a flight recorder in the vehicle and we picked it up yesterday. 10 miles away from the dealership while driving on another city road the vehicle again shut itself off while driving, had a complete loss of power, and locked itself into park mode and wouldn't restart. This time had my entire family and two young children in the car trapped in the middle on a busy intersection. Vehicle was then towed again to the same dealership and they claim the flight recorder didn't pick up anything. A claim has been opened up with fca headquarters and again no one is assisting in this issue. This is a huge safety concern and needs to be addressed.

As I was driving on a city street and applied the brakes the car suddenly stopped and completely shut off the engine and shut down. Unable to start the car after a few attempts it finally started again, went a few more feet and then completely shut down and the vehicle turned off again, in the middle of the road. The car began to smoke from the front and there was a strong smell of gas. A pedestrian came over and told me not to attempt to start the car again because there was gasoline leaking from the bottom of the car. I had my children in the car with me at the time and so we all had to hop out in a panic and I went inside a nearby coffee shop to call the police, insurance co and a towing service. As I mentioned the car was in the middle of the road, which was a danger to drivers passing by and to myself, all I could see was gasoline pouring out of the car. When the tow truck took the vehicle to a Chrysler dealership service, they informed me that the clamp from the fuel line somehow came off and this was "a one in a million chance of happening to anyone". they offered me no explanation as to why this occurred and offered me nothing to ease my worry of this happening again in the future. I would like to point out that we purchased this as a new vehicle and it was still under warranty. Nonetheless a concerning issue as this could have caused a fire or explosion with me and my 3 children in the van. Thank you for taking the time to read this, please see attachments fo the documentation from the dealership.

While driving car on city street started to hesitate with power, so pulled off road and put in park. Then was unable to take car out of park or shift in any way. Blue light just flashed. Wasn't able to shut the car off and the car had to be towed to the dealer while still running. Message said 'transmission". this happened twice with the first occurence being just shortly after purchase. Vehicle has been at dealer for 44 days and is still not fixed.

This van was purchased by a dealer with approximately 23,000 miles. It was sold to a retail customer and the following day it caught on fire in the customers garage. We had it towed to a Chrysler dealership and Chrysler said they would not accept any responsibility for fire, even though the vehicle is clearly under bumper to bumper warranty. After leaving it there while trying to get Chrysler to fix it we finally sent a tow truck to pick it up. The tow truck driver got in the vehicle to put it in neutral and it caught on fire again. The entire front end of the vehicle is burner/melted and Chrysler refuses to look at it or repair it under warranty.

This involves a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid. While traveling at 80 mph with dynamic cruise control engaged, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion. The internal combustion engine was off, and no power came from the electric motor. The air conditioning also turned off. Despite pressing the accelerator, there was no power at all. The vehicle was only coasting, and lost speed rapidly. Despite losing propulsion, I never felt like I lost brakes or steering. Despite this, I felt very unsafe as I was traveling at highway speed in the middle of an interstate when this occurred. The display alternated between two messages. One stated I needed to shift to 'P' and press the start button (the vehicle was still in motion). The second message stated there was a fault in the hybrid charging system. Once stopped on the shoulder, I shifted to park and pressed the start button while pressing the brake pedal (the normal process to start the vehicle). The dashboard, infotainment system, and window control appeared to power-cycle, but neither the vehicle nor the air conditioning would start. The dashboard continued to display a message saying a charging system failure had occurred. After 45 minutes of repeatedly trying to start the car by pressing the brake and pushing the start button. I tried just pressing the start button without pressing the brake. The car shut all the way off, and after waiting a moment, I was able to start the car by pressing the brake and then pushing the start button. Once started, the vehicle then ran normally except for a check engine light. Five days prior to this incident, a Chrysler dealer performed the repair for recall NHTSA 19V-886, and the initial inspection for recall NHTSA 20V-334.

My vehicle stalls and rolled back three times since purchasing it near the end of August. I know the engine is in idle mode during a stop or stoplight to save on emissions, but the transition from idle to restart when pressing on the gas pedal is not seamless. In fact, it is loud and has rolled back a foot when on changing from brakes to gas pedal.

First day we purchased the vehicle, the engine light went on and the hybrid battery needed to be replaced. Two weeks later the vehicle kept stalling, and eventually came to a complete stop. Pacifica hybrid, two incidents: First was on freeway, fast lane, driving normally with active cruise control. The car suddenly shut down all acceleration and slowed. I was able to press the brake and stop. The front console lit up with many warnings including the frontal collision warnings. I was not close to car in front of me but a motorcycle had split lane passed me very closely and cut in. I had to power off my car and start it twice before it would go forward. I took car for service, Chrysler dealer found nothing wrong, replaced a computer module, gave it back. Less than one week later, the car again suddenly lost acceleration and braked. Same large set of warnings appeared. But this time the car didn't allow me to press the brakes. I was traveling on city streets less than 30 mph but had lost all acceleration and braking control of the vehicle and continued to roll into an intersection at about 7mph. The brake pedal literally pushed back against my foot. I gave it back to Chrysler dealership where it's been ever since. Car has 1100 miles on it purchased July 14th, registration on 7/16. Approximately 300 miles of the car was the dealership service department trying to replicate the issue. Now Chrysler corporate cares is telling me it's still under diagnosis (car hasn't even been turned on in more than 10 days) and that the only way I would get resolution is through arbitration "a free service". my vehicle is currently waiting for Chrysler star (highest level engineering) to even get to the case. I wanted to report the safety issue with the resolution steps for people to follow but unfortunately I can't. Chrysler might even try to give this vehicle back to me again (which I don't want). Note: Dealership has been very stand-up. The problem is Chrysler corporate.

I have been driving a new Pacifica for over a week now and I know the electronic start/stop system is junk overall. On a few occasions, it seems the engine re-engages with a shudder and has delayed us from getting onto a road which is a safety problem with traffic behind me or getting into traffic flow. This feature should have an ability to be permanently disabled by the owner if unwanted instead of having to press a button each time the car starts. We press the button every time, but the fact we have to press this every time we start the Pacifica is irritating. Honestly, the ess system seems to be faulty in implementation.
