The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the horn sounded independently. The contact had to remove a fuse to stop the horn from sounding. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic, who stated that the air bag unit needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 48,000.

Vehicle's horn blows at different times, ie...when turn signal is on, when it is cold outside and when nobody is in the car, usually in the early morning.

When I unlocked the car remotely, the horn sounded continuously for more than a full minute. It happened a second time about a week later, but continued on and off for a few minutes after I drove a short distance. I have read online of many similar happenings, and in most cases, it looks like a possible repair for about $1,000. Most seem to be removing a fuse that also disables the air bag. If the air bags are life savers, do we have to wait for a death for Chrysler and the government to do something about it....updated 11-06-13

This is a safety issue not only for the driver of the car the others on the road with them! I was just going down the road and the horn starting going off all by itself. Finally took out the fuse. The horn just goes off randomly. It went off when hitting unlock button on remote and or just driving. Then took it to my mechanic and he said that the horn pad assembly which was a dealer only part had to be replaced some sensor or something. So right now I have just left the fuse out, because it is an expensive fix. $1000. I agree with all of the other people that Chrysler should be fixing this issue. Removing the fuse has caused the air bag functions to be unknown. Removing the fuse to stop the horn also affects part of the fueling system according to the manual (same fuse). Removing the fuse has caused us not to be able to use our horn incase something ran in front of the car or to alarm others of harm. The horn is a function of safety and warning. This is standard on all cars as a precaution and warning system. This is not a part of the car that is special ordered, these come standard with all cars. So why is Chrysler not paying for this safety issue? your company has been run into the ground with recalls and safety measures not being taken seriously enough. Time to act on this situation; with over 70 complaints this must not be a whim. Sad part is this is not the only issue with this car three recalls on it and the dealer sold the car anyway without repairing recalls.

Horn went off would not stop on Chrysler 2006 Sebring. Fuse was pulled to stop horn disabled horn & airbag according to 3/4's of others reports. Please execute manufacturer recall.

At first I thought it was my own inept use of the horn that I was not pressing it right, but the horn would not sound when warning other drivers of a dangerous situation so I didn't realize that the horn was actually defective. A car was traveling through a red light and I needed to sound my horn to warn on-coming traffic that there was danger and the horn would not go off and the accident happened right in front of me. Perhaps my horn may not have prevented the accident but it would have helped. The horn sometimes worked and sometimes didn't but I just thought that I was always pressing the wrong place on the steering wheel. Since May 1, 2013, my horn just decides to sound at any time. It seems to be making up for lost time!?! it not only causes me to pull over in heavy traffic but it makes other drivers pull over as well. People are looking for danger when there is none. It is a real problem and I know others with my make and model have been having the same problem. The Chrysler dealership said that the horn must be fixed for safety issues and requires the horn and airbag to be replaced (mega expensive). But, if they replace the horn with the same assembly, what prevents it from being defective again" is the air-bag part of the problem, if so, is it defective too" these are questions that the dealership will not answer. The part needs to be redesigned so that this issue does not pose a problem again after being fixed.

I was driving down the road and the horn started blowing by itself! this is a huge safety issue!!!!! I almost had an accident because of this happening. I am handicapped and have my grandchildren in my car. This is such a distraction to my neighbors and to other drivers on the road. Other drivers are distracted by the noise which is a safety hazard! I have had the car for 6 yrs and have never received any information about this problem. But in doing some research there are many other cars like mine that have the same problem. This is a grave situation with this happening. Why isn't Chrysler doing anything to fix this problem in their cars" would Chrysler upper echelon put their families in these cars and send them off to drive on the highways with the horn randomly honking and not being able to stop it while driving a vehicle" funny how people just can't put themselves in other peoples places because of their pompousness and narcissism. This needs to be addressed yesterday!!! I can promise Chrysler, if something happens, to anyone, because of this safety issue, especially in my family, because they we negligent in fixing the horn problem, I will see them in court with a good lawyer!!!!!!!! that you can bet on!

Out of no where the horn just goes off the only way to stop it is to remove the fuse. If you place the fuse back in, it blows the fuse.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph when the horn began to operate inadvertently for a brief moment and then turned off independently. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation or when stationary. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The horn goes off by itself. When the car is parked or it is moving. This happens at night and it disturbs my neighbors. Sometimes it starts blowing while I'm driving. There are several complaints about this problem. On the carcomplaints.com website. This is an electrical problem and a customer was told it had something to do with the airbag. A mechanic disabled the airbag, which is very dangerous. There are 38 complaints on the website. Any electrical problem like this can be very hazardous to the passengers inside the vehicle. Chrysler needs to fix this problem!

Horn goes off for no reason until fuse is pulled. Now that fuse is pulled I am driving around with no airbags. This has happened at least 4 times a week until I now go with the fuse out all the time. No safe driving around with out airbags!!!!! please issue a recall on whatever is causing this issue and putting thousands of people at risk. (number of people based on internet forums and complaints!)

The horn goes off by itself and continued to sound until the fuse was pulled. The fuse is connected to the air bag and the air bag will not deploy now that the fuse is out. The cost of repair is over $1000. A quick search on the internet shows many complaints of the same issue. The horn being connected to the air bag in which the horn is defective making the air bag useless. This is not a result of wear on the car and is a result of a defective switch connected to the air bag. Chrysler refuses to recognize the issue.

Horn started going off when the car was parked in drive. Then started going off as you drive the car. The only way to stop it is to take out the fuse, which disables the airbag in the steering wheel. Both of these problems are safety issues and there needs to be a recall and Chrysler needs to be financially responsible as it seems to be a design flaw.

Horn started going off by itself on my ride to work on a very cold morning. Has gone on several other times since while driving. Horn remains on for several minutes each time until I can safely pull to the side and hit the horn area of the stearing whel with a hammer to get it to turn off. This is a huge safety issue, the horn doesnt work properly when I need it to and it turns on on its own when I dont need it to cauzing a driving hazard for myself and other drivers on the road. From my research I have seen that pulling the fuse will also disable to airbag creating a double safety issue. This should absolutely be recalled by Chrysler as this appears to be a common safety issue in many of their makes, models and years.

Car alarm or horn will go off in the morning when its wet/damp whenever I unlock with clicker or manually with a key. It will go off for about 30 seconds then shut off. Only until recently did the horn start going off while driving in the morning for 20-30second spurts. This would happen on freeways and residential roads. Had to disconnect the horn relay which I understand is also associated with the airbag to stop the honking. I do not feel comfortable driving without an airbag but that is the only short-time solution I have. I also understand to fix it is well over 1000 dollars and even then is not a permanent fix.

Passenger door master switch malfunction, driver window rolled down by itself during ice storm while driving on highway would not roll back up. Had to purchase and replace with new switch. Faulty rear camber in both right and left rear wheels. Both leaning inwards about 12 degrees, ruined 2 new tires, had to spend $670 for camber kit, and $200 for (new) new tires. Transmission herky jerky.
