Has happened numerous times now. Vehicle cuts out and steering goes out after getting gas. Has happened on busy road and is terrifying. Have seen several such complains about this make and model.

After about 5 minutes, the stumbling/stalling stops and doesn't recur until after the next fill up. This is dangerous - car stalled while on highway and during a turn, locking out the steering system and putting my car into oncoming traffic. This happened after filling the car up with gas - as with other Chrysler models of this year, it looks like there is a problem with the valve in the gas tank. This started in earnest in April 2014 and has recurred with varying frequency since then, we have tried supreme unleaded and different gas stations. We have taken this to the Chrysler dealership twice in the last 8 months. Replaced vapor canister and evap purge solenoid in April replaced fuel pump in October they seemed completely unaware of this known and long term-issue. Our fear is that if the vehicle stalls in heavy traffic or at highway speeds that we could crash.

After fueling, this vehicle stalls 1 to 3 times. We do not "top off the tank", but stop fueling when pump shuts off. It does not matter the temperature outside. The engine shuts off and power steering and power brakes are lost. There have been times that an object, such as a mail box, is almost hit because it's very difficult to control the vehicle. This is no doubt a safety issue because control of the car is lost. If you pull out into traffic thinking the vehicle is going to accelerate and it does not, you are in danger of being hit by oncoming traffic. Apparently this is quite a common problem for these vans. This needs to be addressed by Chrysler.

I purchase the vehicle on September 6, 2014 and am the second owner of the vehicle. I do not have any information regarding the following problem prior to the purchase. The engine stalls while I am driving or idling shortly after refueling. I do not top off the gas tank. This has happened after each refuel since I purchased the vehicle (approximately 12 times in total). The car will sputter and then stall while idling or will jerk forward violently as the engine sputters while I am driving and then stall. This may happen immediately in the gas station parking lot or as far away as 1 mile down the road after refueling. I was nearly rear-ended this morning when this occurred.

I purchased a 2005 Chrysler Town and country. After a few months without incident, the vehicle would randomly stall (no power, engine off, stop in its tracks). After it happened three times, I realized this only occurs when filling the tank fully, after driving a minute or two. It is so dangerous! luckily, I had always pulled into a nearby store for another errand. If it had happened on the street, I would have been rear ended! the vehicle stops with no warning. All power shuts off and engine dies. It stops in its place and you are unable to coast and pull over. I can't believe there is no recall on this.

Recently purchased 2005 Chrysler Town and country used. Within a few minutes of filling up with gas, the van stalls or nearly stalls. This has happened every time we've filled up the van with gas. Car stalls or nearly stalls while pulling out of the gas station or very soon after. Car restarts without any problem and is fine until the next fill up. It appears to be a problem with the vapor/liquid separator in the fuel tank. Many, many reports of the same problem on the internet. Chrysler needs to recall and replace the fuel tanks.

After fill up, vehicle stalls, the engine cuts off and the vehicle loses all power and power steering. This happened first on a cross country trip and caused some serious safety concerns when attempting to exit the gas station and merge onto the highway. This problem has been occurring regularly from the first instance in 2011. When fueling, the van is never over filled; we fill until the pump clicks off. This seems to be a fairly common problem in this generation of minivans as represented in online forums trying to diagnose the problem.
