The problem is that the light on the dash keeps coming on and then going off. I have had this replaced 4 times and each time not at a very cheap price. Yet there still seems to be a problem with the front airbag sensor. This comes on right after start up of the vehicle and then goes on and off as you drive.

Frequently when the vehicle is being driven at low speed, less than 30 and you are making a turn the air bag light will illuminate. Normally it will go back off in less than 20 seconds. I was advised there is a clock spring in the steering wheel that on Town and country's from other years was a recall item. In searching my problem I have found other reported incidences of this issue for this model year. It should be a recall item as is a manufacturer defect and a safety issue. Cost to fix is approximately $400. This issue has gone on for several years an appears to be happening more frequently....updated 10/27/15

When the ignition was turned to the on position, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The failure recurred continuously. Doing some investigation on the NHTSA website I noted the recall that affected this model, year and state of registration. The failure is exactly as described in the bulletin. For some reason Chrysler does not have the vehichle VIN listed as being affected by the recall. Will pursue corrective action at a local dealership.

I left my house & a mile at the most down the road. I heard a noise & felt the rear end slide to the right. I tried turning the wheel to straighten the van nothing happened. The steering wheel went side to side, but the wheels didn't turn. I wondered why the van had slide to the side. That is when I realized there was no steering B/C the direction didn't change & it was like the steering wheel was just there. I was coherent the entire time, I noticed at that time I was headed for the embankment across the other lane of traffic. (it is a two lane road.) I already knew there was no steering, so I grabbed the wheel with both hands, planted my feet to the floor board! I then asked god to forgive me. The van hit the embankment head on, flipped, vans top scrapped all the way down just on the edges where the frame is. Then it landed on the pass. Side & slid backwards into the embankment ( on the side of the road I was originally going down.) on the other side of the road. I tried to get out B/C I thought I saw smoke. It was the airbags, they had exploded.my shins looked like I got beat with a baseball bat, the seat belt got stuck, &the doors locked. I lifted the driver door up over my head. (van was on pass. Side).a man helped me get out & van was pulled onto all 4 tires. I had back surgery on 4-23-14. I went & had xrays taken. I filled an investigation w/Chrysler [xxx]#[xxx],[xxx]took pics. Of van, asks qts & sent to Chrysler.[xxx] w/cust. Claim resolution grp 248-512-2934 sent letter B/C van @ salvage 803-324-7510,980-8900 & tampered w/ no invest. Could be done. They have to go to the scene of wreck (standard procedure) & didn't.I contacted [xxx] & numerous others @Chrysler 800-247-9753 reason?.1.)4 blown tires removed 2.)fuses were gone. It was totaled! I faxed in pic.S from the scene & letter. Please help me! [xxx] called said the case is not reopened. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Initially, the passenger airbag warning light would come on intermittently after vehicle was started and running for a period of time, and it may turn on and off several times during vehicle use. After vehicle parked and restarted (usually next day), without any apparent reason the warning light would then work correctly (I.e., during engine start and system checks, warning lights would extinguish). After a few months, the drivers side airbag warning light also started to mimic the same issue (initially less frequent). We contacted dealership to ask about possible recall or issue. They inspected it as part of service/warranty appt, no problems reported to be found. We did ask if they knew of similar issues, but they indicated no. We contacted Chrysler (extended warranty) and they also said no known issues, it was not a warranty issue, and asked if problem possibly related to any accident (but it has not been in any accident). This issue has become more troublesome as the warning lights now activate much more frequently, and then stay active most or entire time vehicle is on and even continue to light up after vehicle parked overnight. Warning lights may then turn off for few days, but will invariably light up for no apparent reason.
